Whenever the temperature goes up, my hopes of having a perfectly coiffed do disappear completely – call it the curse of the wavy-haired – so instead of stressing (and straightening) I have turned to Bumble & Bumble for their cult Surf Spray.
I should probably admit to coveting this item for years – since I was probably about 15, but my love for shiny straight hair kind of got into the way – so even when it got a little steamy I would just squirt on some more glossing cream and dig out the GHDs. This year however, I’m feeling a little different (plus I’m heading to the hairdressers in a fortnight and want my hair to be healthy) so I have left my trusty straighteners in the drawer and am embracing some of my ‘natural’ beachy waves.
To use, I was and 1/2 blow dry my hair, twisting lengths of it into ropes, and spray the B&B on liberally; I kind of thought the spray would have a beachy/coconutty/suncreamy scent but it really just smells of hairspray, although it fades super quickly. After application I continue drying my hair, still twisted until there is no wetness, then I run my fingers through it, and add another couple of quick squirts through the ends and underneath. With this, I get hair which doesn’t look try-hard, but instead just looks good! Since it is a salt spray, you’re hair won’t be shiny per say, but this is easily fixed with a dab of serum through the ends, and the texture the product gives you means hair won’t fall flat in high humidity.
The Surf Spray costs £22.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
