MAC’s Snob lipstick was another of my little freebies courtesy of the back-to-Mac scheme. I used to wear it all the time when I was in my first year at university, and I had kind of forgotten about it. But since I was picking up a few colours, I thought I would revisit my old favourite!
In the tube, Snob looks a little terrifying – it’s a dusky pink with definite purple undertones which makes it look like it could give you a case of serious corpse-mouth. But when applied, it transforms into a kind of amplified nude. There is a definite touch of mauve, but it looks sophisticated, rather than ready for Halloween.
If you’re anything other than fair-skinned, I would definitely try this in-store, as I do think it tends to suit paler tones, as the colour tends to be a little opaque, and it won’t look as natural. The finish is also something to think about. MAC call it a Satin lipstick, but personally I find it completely matte, and as a result, it can feel a little drying. To combat this, I make sure my lips are nice and smooth, I layer a little EOS lip balm on, and then swipe a light layer of Snob, to finish, I apply more balm so my lips aren’t truly matte. I think this makes the colour more flattering too! I had completely forgotten about the lipstick for a few years, and I’m so glad I’ve got a new tube to play with – I love the slightly mauve colour, and it always makes me feel rather grown-up when I wear matte lipsticks!
The lipstick costs £15.00 and are available here
