New Obsession: Konjac Sponges

Kojac Beauty Sponges

I think it’s fair to say that the Japanese know their skincare – BB Creams, Cleansing Oils and a whole load of other beauty innovations started out there, and are just catching on over here. So, when I heard that the latest must-have was a Konjac sponge I hunted for one I could get to grips with.

Before I go on about how I found using one, exactly what Konjac sponges are is super interesting. They are 100% natural and come from a potato-like plant which grows at high altitudes in the Far East. When wet they have a gentle, almost jelly-like consistency which gently exfoliates the skin without feeling too harsh.

When they dry up (like the one on the left) they shrivel up and harden and feel almost plasticky. They are definitely a funny idea to get your head around, but I love them!

Since the sponges are so pure, the sponges can be infused with different ingredients to help certain skin complaints. The left sponge is from Boscia, and is infused with charcoal. This means it’s perfect for decongesting skin, and clearing pimples and acne. The white sponge is from the Konjac Sponge Company, and it is completely pure. These are great for sensitive skin types, and I use mine daily. For best results, I wet my face and massage a little cleanser in, then I make sure the sponge is soaking wet, then just kind of buff the cleanser out.

It definitely isn’t the tidiest cleansing method, but it can’t be beaten. After using my skin feels soft and clear, and I just love how natural the sponges are!

Have you tries Konjac sponges?
