So, a week today is the UK’s Mother’s Day, and I’m always at a bit of a loss at what to buy for mine. It’s always tempting to treat her to something I know she has and loves, but I think it’s almost better to take her out and really spoil her! I’m thinking a rather incredible option could be Harvey Nichols Laurent Perrier Champagne Dinner which is taking place on Wednesday 22nd April.
If you’ve never dined at the Edinburgh store before, you’re really missing out. The restaurant crowns the store on the Forth Floor (named thanks to jaw dropping views) and it is the most glorious venue for night specially hosted by Laurent Perrier. The French Champagne house have worked together with Harvey Nichols’ chefs to produce the most mouth-watering 4 course menu complete with champagne pairings.
The evening begins with a homemade lemon cream cheese, poached figs, honeycomb, toasted brioche fingers, with a crunchy nut granola. To complement the freshness of the dish, you can enjoy a glass of Laurent–Perrier Brut NV which has subtle citrus and toasty notes.
You can then move onto pan–fried Tarbet scallop, Buckie crab and ginger tortellini, tomato and coriander beurre blanc which just sounds divine! A glass of Laurent–Perrier Ultra Brut will accompany the fish course, the champagne is aged for at least four years and is apparently Kate Moss’ favourite bubbly!
The third course sounds just heavenly; roast duck breast, pomme cocotte, rainbow chard, girolles, blackberries, thyme jus are served with a glass of Laurent–Perrier Vintage. Laurent Perrier only produces their Vintage during their very best years, so it is an exquisite choice. The citrus notes of the champagne are just perfect for cutting through the richness of the duck.
To finish the evening, Rhubarb soufflé has been paired with Laurent–Perrier Cuvee Rose. I’m a bit of a Rose Champagne girl, so the thought of a glass of the Cuvee Rose with the freshness of rhubarb sounds absolutely sublime!
As if the dinner doesn’t sound incredible enough, the Laurent Perrier and Harvey Nichols team will be on hand throughout the evening to answer any questions you have regarding either the food or champagne.
The dinner will cost £75 per person and you can make reservations by phoning 0131 524 8388
