Whenever I’m looking to treat my mother, I know that I can’t go wrong with something divine from Jo Malone. Before I even get to the goodies inside, I just love the way that the perfumes are packaged – the chic beige boxes bedecked in black ribbon means I don’t need to trawl around looking for wrapping, and when you pull it out of the bag, you can get some serious brownie points!
For Mother’s Day this year, I thought it would be fun to give a new scent a whirl, with Jo Malone’s gorgeous Peony and Blush Suede Cologne. It’s one of the brand’s newest fragrances, released in 2013, and it’s perfect if you’re looking for a light, floral fragrance which feels both sophisticated and a little unexpected.
When first sprayed, Peony and Blush Suede has an almost fruity scent thanks to the top notes of red apple, and it feels incredibly pretty and feminine to wear. As the perfume warms up on my skin, the scent tends to mature into stronger floral notes. It’s both really beautiful as well as easy to wear, perfect if you’re looking for a new go-to! As the hours go on, the deepest notes of suede become clearer, warming the fragrance and making it feel terribly luxurious. Peony and Blush Suede is also a fantastic choice if you like to layer your fragrances: Jo Malone recommends pairing the cologne with their Orange Blossom, or English Pear & Freesia depending if you want to add citrus notes, or if you want to soften the scent.
Jo Malone’s Peony and Blush Suede Cologne costs £40.00 and is available here.
