Urban Decay Naked Palette*

I feel like Urban Decay’s original NAKED Palette needs no introduction. It’s the palette that launched a thousand copies, and I feel like it’s also behind a whole tonne of people discovering the awesomeness which is the Urban Decay brand.

The palette feels pleasingly chunky to hold, although whoever thought that a felt covering was a good idea was nuts! It attracts dust like nothing I’ve ever seen before! Along with 12 stunning eye shadows, the palette includes a double ended brush as well as sachets of a few different eye primers.

The palette’s colours range from a cool grey toned neutral (Virgin) through to a sparkly black (Creep). The shadows are all quite warm in tone, and are perfect for everything from providing a little definition, right the way through to a dramatic smoky eye.

On a daily basis, I’ve been focusing on the left hand side of the palette. I smooth the shade Naked (a matte medium toned beige) over the whole of my eyelid, blending a little of Buck (a darkened beige-brown) in my crease. I then add a touch of Sin (Champagne shimmer) to the inner corners of my eyes, then add a little definition to my lash line using Dark Horse (a dark chocolatey brown).

I really love how balance the palette feels – the mix of matte and shimmery shadows feels perfect! I love how you can really alter your look depending on the shadows you choose, and no matter how subtle or dramatic the look you want you’re sorted!

The formulation of the shadows is really dreamy – they all feel almost creamy to use, and the colour pay off is pretty much unbeatable. Even the shimmer shadows are really pigmented, and there is almost no fall out. The shimmer and sparkles also last for hours!

The double ended brush is a nice inclusion in the palette. The bristles are synthetic, and although not what I would use everyday, it’s really nice to keep in the palette to use in a pinch!

One end of the brush is nice sized dome, which picks up a good amount of shadow, and allows for easy blending. The other side is a narrower brush, which is great for adding a bit of definition around the lash line. Since it’s not too pointy, it gives a subtle line of colour.

Honestly, I can’t believe it’s taken me quite this long to get round to using the original NAKED palette! I’ve used my NAKED 2 an absolute tonne, so I’m really happy to add this palette into rotation! The warm toned shadows make me feel polished without using a tonne of effort, and the adaptability of the original NAKED is just awesome!
