If I’m completely honest, I’ve never been one for lip pencils. I know they’ve really seen a resurgence recently (thanks in part, to the weirdness which was the Kylie Jenner over-lining phenomenon) but I’ve never really bothered with them. I think it’s probably because most of my lip products are neutral coloured glosses.
So, when Kiko’s new Intensely Lavish Lip Pencil in 01 Lusty Peony, I thought it was the perfect time to really give it a go! Matching the Intensely Lavish Lipstick I reviewed here, Kiko’s new Intensely Lavish Lip Pencil is described as a ‘long lasting lip’ pencil with ‘vivid colour’ which is perfect if you’re looking to create a super polished lip look!
The texture of Kiko’s lip pencil is beautifully soft, with a great amount of colour payoff. After exfoliating my lips, and prepping them with a little lip balm, I carefully lined my lips using the pencil. 01 Lusty Peony is a beautiful dusky rose shade, which is perfect for creating a pretty, amplified nude lip. The pencil’s soft texture meant I wasn’t left with a scary line around my lips a la Pamela Anderson in 1992, and I mades sure to smudge the liner into my lips afterwards to ensure an even colour. After my lining, I just swiped the Intensely Lavish Lipstick on, and I was good to go. The liner really added to the longevity of the lipstick, without feeling drying to looking too harsh!
Kiko’s Intensely Lavish Lip Pencil is priced at £4.90 and is available here.
I have this lip liner and I feel like such a dunce, but I cannot figure out how to get more out now that I have worn it down. Am I supposed to sharpen it or is there another trick?
