When I first caught sight of Chanel’s new Autumn 2015 collection – Les Automnales, the Le Vernis 669 Chataigne was my must-have. The moment the nights start to get shorter and darker, I ransack my nail varnish collection and dust off my inky shades which have been pushed to the back all summer. Since I keep my nails relatively short, I think shiny dark polishes just look so pretty, and are such a great change from my current wardrobe of rotating pinky-nudes.
At first look, Chataigne looks like it could almost be a dupe for the iconic Rouge Noir, not that that’s a bad thing (I may have two bottles of it in my stash right now). Both polishes are blackened browns, which dry to an almost black finish, and I have to say, I’m in love!
The formula of Chataigne is dreamy – an easy to apply polish which is opaque in a single coat, although I did add another just for the depth of colour. The colour dries to an almost-black finish, and I’m completely obsessed with it. After topping it off with a swipe of Chanel’s top coat (review here) I’ve been able to enjoy three chip free days of wear (an age for Chanel polishes, which normally chip within a day or two for me!)
Chanel’s Chataigne is priced at £18.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
I purchased this a few weeks ago and I love it! Such an amazing finish.
