Let’s be honest: we all long for a bit of luxury in our lives. Chances are you’ve dabbled in it before. Maybe it was a weekend trip away to a local spa, or perhaps you splashed out on a designer dress and felt like a princess all day. Unfortunately, as lovely as these things are, they are rarely conducive to our everyday lives. We all have jobs, responsibilities and endless chores to do (note: being a princess doesn’t mean you don’t need to do the washing). But, if you get a little bit imaginative there are lots of ways you can add a little bit of extraordinary luxury to your ordinary everyday life!
Start the day with a barista coffee
Who doesn’t love a freshly blended, professionally made coffee? It’s hard to think of anyone who doesn’t. If you’re someone who drinks one of the 70 million cups of coffee us Brits drink every day (that’s a lot of coffee!), you might as well make it a great one. Most of us start the day with a mug of the good stuff, but with so many different coffees becoming readily available, it really is a drink for any time. Investing in a coffee machine might not be the cheapest way to get luxury on a budget – but for the amount of cups you’ll make with it, you’ll easily make your money back. Just remember to keep it well maintained with the help of a company such as La marzocco, and you’ll be enjoying barista-style drinks in no time!
Create your own ‘at-home-spa’
We all know that going to a spa is an incomparable experience. There’s nothing quite like being waited on hand and foot whilst enjoying some luxury treatments. When you leave, it’s guaranteed that you’ll feel like a new woman! But who’s to say that you have to pay a fortune to get that same feeling? Okay, it might not quite be the same, but there’s no reason why you can’t have at least a similar experience right in the comfort of your own bathroom. Firstly, dim the lights (if you can – if not just turn them off) and light some fragrant candles to burn around the side of your bath. Put on some relaxing music and treat yourself to some luxury products – such as that Sanctuary gift set you never got round to using!
Okay, so you’re not going to nip out to Tesco in a ballgown and elbow-length gloves. But it is true that the clothes we wear can truly influence how we feel and how we carry ourselves. If you’re in need of a pick-me-up, there’s no easier way to feel confident than to wear something amazing. This doesn’t mean you need to spend a fortune either – looking expensive actually doesn’t require you to spend that much money, as long as you are smart about it. A faux fur coat instantly adds glamour to any ensemble, as do a pair of great heeled boots. Pair with some killer sunglasses (who cares that it’s winter) and a great bag and you’re good to go!
