Even though I buy makeup on an all-too-regular basis, I really felt that I needed to update my brush selection. I’m guilty of relying on a few old favourites, and whenever I watch makeup videos on youtube, I get a case of serious brush envy.
Thankfully though, Real Techniques have absolutely come to my rescue with their gorgeous new Deluxe Gift Set. Out right in time for Christmas, the set features five staple brushes, as well as a silver clutch. So, if you’re just building your brush collection, or, like me, you need to update your collection this is a surefire hit!
Since I had never gotten around to trying Real Technique brushes before, the opportunity of testing out five was such a great opportunity! The brush I probably use is the Multi Task Brush. Designed for the flawless application of blush, bronzer and powders, it has a wonderfully soft, fluffy dome which picks up just the right amount of product for a subtle application. I tend to use it mainly for blush, as it really disperses colour well, giving a soft, blended look.
The Tapered Foundation Brush has a beautifully soft, densely packed head, which is really wonderful for creating a flawless base. I’ve been trying the brush with my beloved Dior Star Foundation on days when I want to look more ‘done’. I tend to apply the foundation from my nose and chin, and blend outwards, giving a light and even coverage.
The Angled Highlighter Brush has been such a godsend for me! I tend to just use my regular powder brush in highlighters, but the Angled Highlighter Brush means that creating a natural, sculpted look super easy! The brush isn’t too big to be overwhelming to use, and the bristles are perfectly soft! I use the brush in my Hourglass Ambient Lighting and brush over my cheekbones, nose and brow bones.
The Base Shadow Brush is perfect for creating a subtle, natural eye look. Swirled about in a light, natural base colour, the Shadow Brush softly blends out colour, and it’s great for covering my lids. The bristles are so soft, and it’s also perfect for blending out colour when I’m creating a more complex look.
Last up is the Fine Liner Brush which is wonderful for creating a subtle, defined eye. The brush itself is incredibly fine, and it makes lining my eyes an absolute breeze. I absolutely love using the brush in my gel and cream liners, as it gives such a precise line!
As you can probably tell, I’m absolutely in love with the Deluxe Gift Set – the brushes are incredible quality, and they are beautiful too!
