I’m not going to lie, even after however many years it’s been popular, contour still absolutely terrifies me. I’ve seen way too many people walking around with stripes of brown and gold on their face to feel comfortable buffing taupe powder into the hollows of my cheeks.
Real Techniques have made sculpting a whole lot easier though, with their rather special Sculpting Sponge. The little pink tool means that contouring feels far more natural thanks to the different sides. The wide, flat part of the sponge is all about contouring. Dipped in a neutral-toned brown contouring shade (usually a cream formula), this slips into the hollows of my cheeks, and creates a seamless blend.
The, the top part of the sponge is perfect for blending in a subtle highlight. Again, I prefer a cream formula for this, as it just melts into the skin, leaving a flawless finish. The operate parts of the sponge also mean formulas don’t get muddled together!
The Sculpting Sponge costs £5.99 and is available here.
