Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light

There’s a bit of a joke in my circle of friends, that if something is marble, I will pretty much need to buy it. I’ve been holding out on buying the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit in Surreal Light, but the last time I popped into Space NK I caught sight of it, and just couldn’t resist.

The casing looks like Carerra Marble, and it’s ridiculously pretty. I’ve heard that Hourglass are going to be releasing a new limited edition palette, so if you’re after this one, you might have to be quick! Honestly though, it’s worth the investment. The palette is all about creating a flawless, sculpted look and honestly, it couldn’t be easier!

Tucked inside is an Ambient Lighting Powder in Surreal Light. After applying my makeup, I sweep a light dusting of the finishing power over my forehead, nose, cheek and chin. It gives skin a flawless look, combatting shine without making skin look dry or cakey. Then, I dust the bronzer in Surreal Bronze Light into my temples, under my chin and in the hollows of my cheeks. It sculpts the face without looking too Kardashian-esque, and then it’s time for blush. There are two included in the palette – Surreal Glow (pale pink) and Surreal Effect (peony pink). I work small amount of Surreal Glow on my cheek bones, then finish with a pop of Surreal Effect. It seriously brightens winter-dulled skin, and makes me look far more awake than I feel in the mornings. Then, to finish the look, I sweep Surreal Strobe Light on the high points of my face – on my brow bones, cheek bones and across the bridge of my nose. It never looks too shiny or sparkly, just wondrously natural.

Hourglass Surreal Light Edit is priced at £69 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
