Ok, in the world, what is better than a standard poodle called Winks? Honestly, not much. But Rodin has just released a collection of lip pencils which match the lipsticks they brought out last year. As you might expect from the brand, whose products are as effective as they are chic, the lip pencils are pretty much a stroke of genius!
As they come in the same choices as the lipsticks, you can choose from the perfect nude, a show-stopping tomato red and even a sultry plum. But since we’re heading squarely into spring, I opted for Winks, the prettiest, poppiest neon pink named after label founder Linda’s rather fabulous standard poodle Winks.
Using the pencil couldn’t be easier, I prep my lips by giving them a bit of a slough then pat a little balm on them. Once I’ve given that some time to sink in, I get to grips with the lip pencil, filing in all of my lips. If you’re looking for a really intense burst of colour, you can top this off with the lipstick, but since I’m still a bit of a strong-lip-newbie, I leave it as more of a stain.
The pigment and colour payoff is incredible. A single swipe of the pencil leaves lips the perfect Barbie pink. It’s so pretty and fun, and the blue undertones means teeth look pearly white. The pencil has a matte finish, but it doesn’t feel at all drying – I think it helps that I add a touch of balm beforehand, but it stays in place all.day.long. It’s impressive stuff, and the fact that it’s named after a poodle makes me inordinately happy!
Rodin Lip Pencil in Winks is priced at £25 and is available from Panache Cosmetics here
