When it comes to manicures, I’m pretty set in my ways. Every second Monday I head to Edinburgh for a shellac. In the winter my nails are dark, and in the summer they’re nude. Most people would find it boring, but it’s my routine, and it means that I don’t really need to think too much about it in between appointments. So, when Harvey Nichols Edinburgh got in touch to see if I’d like to try out Nails Inc’s new and exclusive nail art, I absolutely jumped at the chance.
Situated on the ground floor, in the heart of the beauty department, the Nails Inc nail bar is something of an Edinburgh icon. Whenever you go past there are rows of glamorous women being filed and tended to, so it was an absolute treat to join their ranks.
After settling on a colour (I opted for Mayfair Lane which is a perfect pinky-nude) I was treated to a glass of bubbles whilst my colour was mixed up. Unlike other nail bars, when you get a gel manicure with Nails Inc, they mix their polish with a special gel formula to keep it long lasting – then it was time to choose the nail art.
To be honest, I’ve always been vaguely wary of nail art – worried I’d get bored of it too quickly, but I needn’t have worried. Nails Inc’s Harvey Nichols exclusives are seriously chic, with the option to choose pearls, bars or Swarovski crystals for a little bit of extra sparkle.
After a little champagne and some serious back-and-forth, I opted to go for a single Swarovski crystal placed in the centre of the cuticle of each nail, and honestly, I absolutely loved it. Subtle enough to feel grown up, each of the crystals positively dazzled under the store lights, I couldn’t stop looking at them.
The nail art was surprisingly chic, and would be a perfect pre-special occasion treat to enjoy, and elements like the pearls and Swarovski crystals would be beyond perfect if you’re looking for a special look for a wedding or party look.
It costs £65 for a full set of crystals, pearls or bars with an Express Manicure at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh
