On a daily basis, I’m not the biggest foundation wearer. I like to look and feel as natural as possible, but there are times where I need something with a higher level of coverage. Usually it’s a Skype meeting, where I need to look polished on the other end of my laptop webcam, and I’ve been looking for a product which leaves me looking ‘finished’ rather than too shiny, which doesn’t really translate on camera.
When Huda Beauty opened their first (and only) Scottish counter in Harvey Nichols Edinburgh a few weeks back, I was colour-matched to their famous #FauxFilter Foundation. Designed to act like an instagram filter but in real life, this is a full-coverage formula which smoothes skin, covers imperfections, and gives you a truly flawless finish. Available in 30 shades, this is possibly the fullest coverage I’ve ever tried. Prior to smoothing on the foundation with a beauty blender, I make sure that my skin is super hydrated, and I add a pump of primer to a pump of foundation to sheer it out a little. Since it’s a full coverage finish, I don’t need to bother with concealer, and it’s just a case of adding a bit of bronzer, mascara and getting down to that Skype meeting. The foundation lasts all day too! I went for a spin class after being colour matched, the foundation did.not.move.
Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation is priced at £32 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
