The Botanical Candlemaker – Lemongrass*

I’m not sure that there is anything quite as cosy as lighting a gorgeous candle and cosying up with a book for a chilled evening in. Obviously we’ve had a little more time than normal to enjoy some home cosiness, so when The Botanical Candlemaker got in touch to see if I wanted to try some of their fabulous candles, I absolutely jumped at the chance!

The Botanical Candlemaker is a real find of a brand – local to me, the candles are all handmade in small batches in Edinburgh. The brand’s ethos is all about sustainability with serious ecological credentials, and as a result, their candles are made with Rapeseed Wax, made with oil grown in the UK. If you’ve ever seen those fields of neon yellow in the early summer, that’s Rapeseed, and it’s a crop which is bee-friendly and it’s used in its entirety, so it’s seriously good for the environment.

The first of their scents I tried was their one-note Lemongrass – a beautifully fresh fragrance which feels perfect for summer evenings. It’s beautifully citrus-y, and it’s quite an invigorating scent, so if you’re looking for a ‘day’ candle, this might just be a perfect choice! Since gyms are still closed up in Scotland, I’ve been logging in to virtual Pilates classes twice a week, and I’ve been loving burning this candle during the classes. It brings a serious sense of zen to the room, and lemongrass’ scent is a known de-stresser and can even help with feelings of anxiety.

If you fancy your own moment of zen, The Botanical Candlemaker candles start at £20 and are available here
