When it comes to things I definitely do not need to buy, eyeshadows sits pretty high up the list; and honestly, my brown eyeshadows in particular really don’t need any adding to. I’ve got warm browns, cool taupes and everything in between, and you could definitely call them my comfort zone. Despite the fact that I pretty much will never be able to fully use up all my options, I couldn’t resist adding a new favourite to the collection in the form of Pat McGrath’s EYEdol Eye Shadow in Sextrovert.

I’ve been desperately trying to resist the Pat McGrath palettes – even though they are probably some of the most beautiful I’ve seen, they’re super spendy. The single shadows though, are surprisingly affordable – often available at half price on the Pat McGrath website, I couldn’t resist treating myself to Sextrovert.

What I think I love most about the Pat McGrath shadows is just how versatile they are – Sextrovert, when swiped with a finger is a bold, rich metallic golden brown. It glints and glitters in the light, and it’s pretty much the only thing you need to create a beautifully dramatic smoky eye.

Buffed out with a brush, the shadow gives lids a beautiful wash of warm brown which twinkles in the light. Surprisingly neutral, it’s a gorgeous choice for natural day looks, as it casts such a flattering glow on the lid. Paired with lots of black mascara and some brow gel, it’s an easy way to look groomed and polished on mornings when you might be running out of time.

As you would expect from a product designed by the world’s best makeup artist, these shadows have serious staying power. Whether patted on with a finger or buffed into the lids, the colour stays true all day (or evening) long, and even when used without a primer, I never notice any creasing or fade.
Pat McGrath EYEdols Eye Shadow in Sextrovert is priced at £12 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
