MAC Cosmetics’ Christmas collections are among my favourites every year. I’m not sure quite how they do it, but their mixing of wearable bits combined with sparkling packaging is always a winner for me. I usually stock up on a few bits which I can use whenever – a glittering eyeliner, a fun gloss, and this year is no different. I’m kind of obsessed with how pink and shiny the whole Frosted Firework line is – it’s so pretty and fun, it’s just nice to have it kicking about in your makeup bag, and the makeup in the collection is surprisingly wearable. There are a lot of beautiful neutral tones, with a few punchy red and pinks in there for good measure.

Since I’m trying to cut back on how much I’m buying, I limited myself to a single Lipglass, although I’d happily treat myself to the brushes, shadows, lipsticks and liners if money was no option. One of five available shades, Twinsies looked like pretty much a perfect nude gloss. One the website it looked like a peachy-pink, but in reality it’s a little darker, and far cooler tone than their photos might suggest. Even though it’s not exactly what I was expecting, it’s very pretty on the lips.

Possibly my favourite thing about the gloss is the iconic MAC formula – from the sweet vanilla scent to the smack of stickiness, I always feel about 14 when I use it. The colour is a bit darker and more opaque than I was expecting, so rather than just using the doe foot applicator like I normally would, I just tap it on with a finger. The result is a pretty ‘your-lips-but-better’ shade which is perfect for winter days. Since I use my finger, it’s not as glossy as it is applied direct, but there is still a flattering amount of shine. Like all MAC glosses, you get a good wear-time thanks to the sticky formula – I easily get two to three hours before I notice the colour fading.
MAC Cosmetics Lipglass – Frosted Firework – Twinsies is priced at £16.50 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
