YSL Rouge Volupte Shine- 41*

YSL Rouge Volupte 41

So if you’ve read any of my recent posts (and really, you should, I’ve been featuring some really rather awesome products!),  you’ll have noticed that I’ve been banging on about the better weather. For the past few weeks, the UK has been bathed in the most gorgeous of springtime sunlight, and I’ve been loving all the blossom in the air and golden evenings.

So, in something of a celebration, I’ve been brightening up my makeup a little. My routine usually consists of a pinky-nude lip shade that I’m sure would be boring to many, but I felt it was only right to opt for something a bit juicier looking. So, I plumped for one of YSL’s rather iconic Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks in the shade 41. It’s a really stunning warm toned coral shade which can, in the right light verge on pink.

It’s such a great choice if you’re looking for a summer lip colour, as it’s both incredibly pretty as well as ridiculously easy to wear. I’ve been applying mine straight from the bullet, and I’m just in love with YSL’s Rouge Volupte’s formula. If you’ve never tried it before, you’re really missing out! Rather than many lipsticks which have heavy, creamy formulas, YSL’s feels incredibly light and nourishing. They apply almost like a balm, and leave lips with a light glossy veil of colour.

I’ve already amassed quite the collection of Rouge Voluptes as the formulas are just so dreamy! Infused with oil, lips stay hydrated throughout the day, meaning that they are just the perfect choice for throughout the summer, and there is such a wonderful choice of colours too! So, if you’re looking for a new way to way a pink lip right now, definitely give number 41 a go, and let me know what you think!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine 41 is priced at £26.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Chanel Le Vernis – Roubachka

Chanel Le Vernis RoubouchkaOk, so I think it’s fair to say that I have something of a Chanel problem. I can’t get enough of their leather goods or beauty, and even though their Vernis formula has been seriously lacking in the quality department, I can’t stop myself buying new ones. Despite the fact my manis chip hours after being completed, I just can’t get enough of the brand. So, when I read that the entire nail polish line was getting a makeover, I couldn’t resist trying it out!

To someone not quite as obsessed with the brand, the bottles might look the same, but, if like me, you’re a bit of a buff, you’ll notice that they’ve been paired back and now no longer have the colour names or numbers on the front. They also claim to be super long lasting when used alongside the Le Gel Coat, so of course, I had to grab both!

Honestly though, I kind of wish I hadn’t. I tried Roubachka for the first time last week, and it’s the same as it’s always been. The colour itself is a truly beautiful inky purple which looks black in some lights and almost egg-plant in others. It applied smoothly and was a rich opaque in two coats. I started the manicure with a Chanel base coat, and finished up with the new Le Gel Coat, and was so impressed with how quickly the polish dried, and how shiny it was. Unfortunately though, that’s where my gushing stops. In under 12 hours I had my first chip, and within 15 every scrap of polish had been peeled off. It’s something of an understatement to say I’m disappointed. I absolutely adore Chanel’s colours, and I was really looking forward to collecting a few more, but, considering this one didn’t even last a full day, I don’t think I’m prepared to fork out again.

Chanel Le Vernis is priced at £18.00 and you can find it here (UK) and here (US)

Sisley So Curl Mascara*

Sisley So Curel Mascara review

Sisley is one of those brands you can’t help but adore. They’re unapologetically luxurious, and they produce both makeup and beauty products which have to be tried to be believed. Their face creams are among my holy grail items, and their Phyto Lip Twist hasn’t left my handbag since I received it! So, you can imagine how keen I was when I heard that they were releasing a brand new mascara – the So Curl.

Sisley So Curl Mascara

Packaged is a super chic, glossy black tube, Sisley’s So Curl promises to provide lashes with curl and instant volume as well as really caring for lashes. Unlike most mascaras, which just promise incredible definition until it comes time to cleanse, with continued wear, Sisley’s offering makes eyelashes appear thicker and fuller, appear stronger and more beautiful thanks to the inclusion of incredible ingredients such as Pro-vitamin B5, Rice Phytoceramides, Castor Oil, and Passionflower extract.

It’s this attention to detail in the formula which really sets Sisley apart from it’s competitors. The mascara isn’t just amazing for making lashes look seriously great, but it’s almost like a beauty treat for them too! I have to say, I haven’t so much as looked at another mascara since this one arrived as it does everything and more than you can imagine!

The So Curl mascara makes lashes look super black, and incredibly long and full. I don’t even need to look at my eyelash curlers, the So Curl gives them the perfect amount of definition and curl too! As you can probably tell, I’m absolutely in love with Sisley’s newest product! It’s a real Holy Grail product, and it comes in three colours (black, brown, and navy) so if you’re looking for a little eye-update, run, don’t walk to your nearest Sisley counter!

Real Techniques Cheek & Lip Set*

DSC_0331

Real Techniques is one of those brands that I hadn’t really tried out until relatively recently, but I’m now somewhat obsessed by! If you’ve not come across them yet, head over to your nearest Boots or Superdrug, who will undoubtably have some and you can start your collection too! They’re the brainchild of top beauty bloggers Pixiwoo (otherwise known as Samantha and Nicole Chapman) and it’s not an understatement to say that over the past few years, they’ve really taken the world by storm!

Slowly but surely I’ve been creating something of a collection, so when I saw the Cheek & Lip kit I couldn’t resist. Consisting of a big fluffy powder brush, a contour brush and dinky lip brush, the trio is a real workhorse which you can reach for every morning.

The Cheek Brush is an exclusive addition to the set, and it’s the thing that your brush-dreams are made of! First off, the size is absolutely perfect if you like to sweep your bronzer or blush on. The bristles feel super soft, and fan out to effortlessly apply bronzers and blushes in a believable wash of colour. I’ve been using the brush for bronzer application (so not just on my cheeks) and I’ve really fallen in love. It doesn’t shed bristles and it’s so comfortable to use. The kit is worth it’s weight in gold for this brush alone!

The contour brush is probably the one I was most excited to try from the kit. I’ve not had a dedicated contour brush before, so the idea itself feels novel, and Real Techniques makes my most-used highlight brush, so I had super high expectations. The contour brush is a duo-fibre one, so the base of the brush is made from shorter, more densely packed bristles, whilst it ends in longer, super soft fibres. The brush makes contouring ridiculously easy, I swirl the brush in my contouring shade, apply a little under my cheekbones, around my chin and a little to my temples and around my hairline and I’m good to go. The brush leaves a soft, almost airbrushed effect which looks super natural. You’re not left with a dirty looking smudge, instead, it’s just a pretty and believable amount of definition.

Last up is the lip brush, which, if you’re loving a defined, matte lip this season, it’s your must-have tool. The fibres of the brush are pleasingly firm, allowing you to easily control your lip colour, it’s absolutely invaluable for creating a perfect statement lip.

The Real Technique Cheek & Lip Set is priced at £19.99 and is available here.

House of Holland by Elegant Touch Nails

House of Holland Nails

Even though I absolutely adore having my nails done, I love how they look, and I love the way feel, so sometimes it’s necessary to have a bit of a cheat’s option. Elegant Touch has partnered up with British designer Henry Holland to create a selection of press on nails which are perfect if you’re looking for something a little bit different!

House of Holland Glitterbug NailsThere are an absolute tonne of designs to choose from, varying from seriously statement-making to verging on subtle, but they’re all gorgeous, and look like you’ve just dashed out of a swish nail salon.

House of Holland Glitterbug Nails 1

I was very kindly sent three of the designs to try out, and I have to say, even though they are at least a hundred times flashier than my regular nails, I absolutely adore them!

House of Holland Dip Dye Nails

All three sets of nails I tried were long almond in shape, and I don’t think there was a day when I had these on that at least someone didn’t rush up and ask where I had my nails done!

House of Holland Dip Dye Nails 2

Applying the nails couldn’t be easier – the glue and files are all included in the little sets, and all you have to do is choose the size of nail that best suits your finger, add a little glue, press down for a couple of minutes and voila = instant manicure! The lasting power is pretty impressive too – I got four days of wear with mine (granted I was very careful with my nails) before they started to ping off.

House of Holland La Croix Nails 1

The range of designs available is absolutely huge, and I’m obsessed with these nude nails complete with bedazzled crosses. They are just the prettiest colour, and the added sparkle just adds so much glamour!

Henry Holland & Elegant Nails are priced from £8.99 and are available here
