Lacoste L.12.12 Energized*

I feel like Lacoste are really killing the fragrance game these days. If, like me, your a fan of fragrances which smell clean and fresh, they’re definitely the brand for you! I love their male fragrances almost as much as their more feminine counterparts as they don’t feel too complicated to wear, not to mention that they fall squarely into ‘steal-from-your-boyfriend’ category of scents!

The L.12.12 Energized is a new take on the brand’s classic L.12.12 fragrance, with the addition of mint and ginger, L.12.12 Energized feels like it was made for summertime wear. Not to mention the pumped-up Lacoste gator, which has been transformed into a patchwork of flags, making the bottle feel like it was made to be used during this month’s Olympics.

Other than the supersized gator (and of course, the title, not much else has changed about the Lacoste packaging. It’s still a super chic white glass bottle, with the detailing on the side of the bottle as a nod to Lacoste’s iconic tennis shirts. Like the fragrance itself. the bottle is simple, fresh and clean, and really, what else do you need?

On the skin, L.12.12 Energized Edition just feels like a shower in a bottle. The top notes of mint and ginger smell so cooling and fresh – just the thing you want to wear on hot, sticky summer days! The heart note of tuberose might sound surprising for a male-oriented scent, but it rounds off the sharpness of the ginger ad mint, and gives it an over-all soapy quality. The base of vetivert really grounds the fragrance and gives is a clean, green quality. It also means that it lasts on the skin, keeping you smelling amazing all day long!

Lacoste L.12.12 Energized edition is priced at £30.08 (it’s on offer) here

The Perfume Society: The Scent of a Man Discovery Box*

The Perfume Society Father's Day Box

I absolutely love receiving beauty boxes every month, they always come as something of a surprise, and it’s just so fun to dig through them finding new brands and new favourites.

The Perfume Society Father's Day Box 1

The Perfume Society’s brand new The Scent of a Man Discovery Box is the first one designed especially for the boys, and I have to say, it’s a good one! Packaged in a greyscale version of the brand’s signature boxes is a selection of fine fragrance samples as well as a few rather generous treats.

The Perfume Society Father's Day Box 2

Like all of the Perfume Society’s Discovery Boxes, there’s a perfect mix of well known brands as well as some indie brands. It means that you’re pretty much guaranteed to find a few new favourites in the bunch.

In addition to 13 fragrances to try out, there are also some rather luxe products in there too! I’m not going to lie – I’ve stolen the travel sized Elemis Ice-Cool Foaming Shave Gel as it’s super refreshing to use, and the minty scent feels wonderfully clean without being overpowering. There’s also a Penhaligon Face and Beard Scrub as well as an Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream for Men. I’ve tried out the female version of the moisturiser before and really liked it, so I’m sure that one’s a winner too!

The Scent of a Man Discovery Box is such a great little gift, I’m sure any father would love it! It’s priced at £19.00 and is available here.

Father’s Day Guide: Lacoste L.12.12 Energized Edition*

DSC_0488_2

So Father’s Day is quickly approaching, so I thought it would be fun this week to share some finds which are the perfect present for your Dad. First up is a special edition of Lacoste’s synonymous L. 12.12 Fragrance.

The difference is, this is the Energized edition. Rather than the regular bottle which is normally a paired back white. The Energized L.12.12 is emblazoned with an oversized Lacoste alligator which is covered in flags.

Considering that we’ve just launched into the UEFA tournament, it feels like the perfect time to gift the bottle! And it’s not just the outside that’s had a bit of an update. To accompany the new Energized Edition, Lacoste have added notes of ginger and mint to the original L.12.12 mix, giving the scent a real freshness and vibrancy.

It’s such a beautifully clean and masculine scent, I just know that any father would be over the moon to receive a bottle of this on Sunday!

Azzi Glasser at Harvey Nichols*

Getting a perfume designed to your exact specifications feels like something out of a dream. A pinch of something mixed with your favourite notes of this and that is something that most people can only fantasise about, but for Azzi Glasser, it’s her specialty.

For the past few years, she’s been the nose behind some of the most beautiful perfumes. If you’ve sniffed Agent Provocateur’s scents (review here) or fallen in love with Bella Freud’s perfumes (review here) you’re familiar with Azzi’s work, so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out she was releasing her own line of fragrances.

Working closely with Harvey Nichols, Azzi Glasser has released a beautifully curated line of bespoke perfumes which are available exclusively from the store. So, as you can imagine, when I got the chance to sit down with Azzi a couple of weeks ago to learn more, I jumped!

Azzi Glasser at Harvey Nichols

The opportunity was truly an incredible one – Azzi is the perfumer to the stars, and has created bespoke fragrances for everyone from Johnny Depp to Orlando Bloom, so getting to sit down and listen to her stories behind the fragrances was fascinating. Since I don’t have the £15,000 it costs to create a bespoke fragrance with her, I wanted to hear all about the 11 scents she’s created for Harvey Nichols; each one inspired by a rather glamorous character.

Azzi Glasser C

The fragrances encompass everything from the rather stately smelling Old Books (Stephen Fry is a fan), to the wonderfully sexy Mr. Vetivert (beloved by ladies man Jude Law). Azzi has also included her own signature scent in the form of Sequoia Wood (a very sexy yet wearable blonde wood) in her line up, and I was very kindly gifted a bottle of the fragrance C.

Azzi Glasser C review

According to Azzi, C is worn by Kate Moss, and it is, undoubtedly, the darkest, sexiest scent I own. When first applied, there is a whoosh of rose and blonde woods, but it settles into a rich floral subtly accented with notes of Oudh and vetivert. It’s a scent for debauched evenings and I’m not surprised – the character of the perfume is described as ‘magnetic, confident and edgy,’ and it smell deliciously opulent! Since it’s such an attention grabbing fragrance – a couple of spritzes to my hair, neck and wrists keeps me smelling amazing all evening!

As if the perfumes weren’t beautiful enough, the effort put into the packaging of them is really something special. They come in a black box with resembles a book, complete with red seal. They’re really a thing of beauty, and really reinforce the links between Azzi’s perfumes and the characters she has created them for. Not only that, but if you’re collecting a few (and once you get a sniff of them, you’ll want to begin a collection!) they look incredibly imposing. Once you get inside the boxes, the bottles come in a black pouches which are perfect for popping into your handbag.

Azzi Glasser perfumes are priced at £95.00 each and you can find them here.

Thank you so much to Harvey Nichols Edinburgh and to Azzi Glasser

Hugo Boss – Boss Bottled*

Hugo Boss Boss Bottled

Buying presents for Father’s Day can be a real hassle – I think men are just inherently difficult to buy for (at least, that’s what I tell myself!) so, today I’ve got another idea for you – Boss Bottled.

Hugo Boss Boss Bottled 1

I’m sure you’ve already seen the rather glamorous ads fronted by Gerard Butler, but Boss Bottled is a gorgeous new scent which is designed to capture the essence of the Hugo Boss brand. It comes in a rather swish embossed glass bottle, and I can’t imagine a bathroom this wouldn’t look great in! The scent itself is perfect if your father is looking for a bit of a summer update. When first applied, the top notes make the scent feel quite gourmand thanks to the cinnamon and vanilla mix with the freshness of apples. As the scent warms up, it intensifies thanks to the Sandalwood and Mahogany. It’s a beautifully complex fragrance, and a few spritzes of it is enough for the whole day. I can’t imagine any father who wouldn’t be over the moon to receive this!

Hugo Boss’ Boss Bottled is priced at £42.50 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
