Bliss Mask-a-Peel*

So it’s more than fair to say that I’ve got something of a fascination with Korean skincare. I’ve been collecting sheet masks for the past year or so and slap one on at least once a week. I’m obviously not the only one – Bliss have just released their take on the rubberising mask (which the currently the mask that’s taking Asian skincare by storm!)

Rather than being packaged in your typical tube or tub, Mask a-‘peel’ comes in the form of three little pots, which look like they should have a yoghurt inside. There is also a branded spatula included, which is crucial in getting your mask assembled!

Mixing up the mask couldn’t be easier. After cleansing my skin, I filled one of the little pots with mineral water  (the pots have a little indentation to show you where to fill it, and you don’t need to use distilled water but it’s a lovely treat) and got stirring. The mask is just a finely milled powder, so once water is added, it’s easy to stir it into a super smooth paste. Once it has turned smooth, it’s time to slap it on. Bliss recommend applying the mask using the spatula, but I found it a touch messy. Fingers are fine – and there is a lot of mask to play with!

Since you’re going to be peeling it off, it’s meant to be layered up, but I had more than enough to apply all over my face, neck and décolletage with some left over. Then, I had twenty minutes to kill while the mask dried. Since it can be a bit goopy and messy, I found it easier to just grab a magazine and hop in the bath. After about 15 minutes, the mask was mostly set, and it was fully dry after 20. Since you apply it thickly, it’s incredibly easy to peel off, and it came off in pretty much a single go! My skin felt soft and smooth, and looked far brighter. I followed up with a good dose of moisturiser and applied my makeup as normal. I felt like I needed less foundation and concealer than normal, and it lasted without touchups all day!

Bliss Mask a-‘Peel’ is priced at £20 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Dermalogica launches their new Phyto Replenish Oil at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh*

DSC_0769

When an invite arrived in my inbox inviting me to the launch of a brand new Dermalogica product at Harvey Nichols, you can imagine how quickly I RSVP’d. I love a good skincare evening – the chance to learn about new products, as well as have a bit of a play around with them is always great fun, plus I just love learning insider tips from those in the know!

DSC_0831

So, on Thursday I popped into Edinburgh’s Harvey Nichols store for the pre-launch of Dermalogica’s brand new Phyto Replenish Oil. Not only was it a chance to have a bit of a play with the new oil, but it was also something of a launch for the Dermalogica counter which has only been around for six or so weeks.

DSC_0599

It’s an absolute beast of a counter, full of hi-tech corners with iPads mounted on the counter and informational videos. It’s a counter like no other – if you pick up an item, an accompanying screen lights up and tells you all about it, as well as how to best apply and use it. The whole experience is very interactive and educational, and I can’t wait to head back in to play around with it a bit more!

DSC_0596

So, after sitting down with a glass of Harvey Nichols Prosecco (which, I should add, is just delicious) we were introduced to Jean-Paul, Dermalogica’s only male skincare expert, who was leading the evening’s presentation. As well as learning about the new oil, we were treated to a demonstration of a FaceFit treatment, and taught all about facial massage.

DSC_0757

As someone with dry skin, I’m a big fan of facial oils – I apply one most nights, and I use a drop in my foundation daily, but I can understand why some people might be nervous. It’s easy to assume that using an oil will automatically make skin look wet or greasy, but since Dermalogica’s is non comedogenic, it doesn’t clog pores, instead it just disappears into the skin.

The Phyto Replenish Oil is filled with goodness from Chia Oils among many other super hydrating and lightweight ingredients, and I can’t even tell you how good it feels on the skin. After passing a couple of bottles around the audience, we were instructed in a number of facial massages which have been specially designed to hydrate and moisturise.

I’ve already started to include a little facial massage into my evening routine, so I’ll let you know if I start to see a difference! Then, we were all treated to some facial mapping. It’s a great little service that Dermalogica offer to see what and where your skin needs a little more TLC, and it’s nice to know your doing all the right things! Then, it was time to head home, laden with the most generous of goody bags – I was very kindly gifted a full size bottle of the Phyto Replenish Oil, which I’ve been testing all weekend. I’ll have a full review up soon, but spoiler alert – it’s a gem!

Dermalogica’s Phyto Replenish Oil launches on September 1st

*Thank you to Harvey Nichols Edinburgh and Dermalogica for inviting me to the event.

Stop Skincare Stop & Wow! Instant Skin Perfector*

Stop Skincare Instant Skin PerfectorWhen I met with Dr. Mckeown at Harvey Nichols a few weeks ago, the product I was probably most excited about trying with the Stop Skincare Stop & Wow! Instant Skin Perfector. It’s the first product that Dr. Mckeown developed, and when I quizzed him about the true, must have products from his line, this was the first one he picked up.

Stop Skincare Instant Skin Perfector 1

Packaged in a super slick tupe (I just love the flash of neon!) the Instant Skin Perfector is basically the primer that your dreams are made of! Described as a real-life ‘airbrush,’ it couldn’t be easier to include the Perfector in your existing skincare regime. I’ve been applying a little of the cream after my regular moisturiser, and I love how light it feels.

Stop Skincare Instant Skincare Perfector 2

Even though it completely disappears into the skin, the Perfector couldn’t really be more clever! Microspheres in the formula blur wrinkles and imperfections in the skin, whilst large pores are completely evened out. As well as all of these incredible properties, it also has light reflectors which give skin a super believable glow (without the dreaded disco ball face). As if all of this wasn’t enough, it even prolongs makeup for an extra few hours. In a word, the Skin Stop & Wow! is complete magic!

Stop Skincare Stop & Wow! Instant Skin Perfect is priced at £30.00 and is available here.

Glossybox January 2016*

DSC_0753

Each month, I get rather excited when the postman delivers my Glossybox. From the pretty pink boxes they come in, to the new brands they let me sample, each month is filled with lovely surprises (and who doesn’t like some new cosmetics each month? I also am loving the fact that Glossybox seem to be featuring a tonne of full sized items – there isn’t a single dinky tester this month, so it’s serious value for money!

DSC_0762

I feel like January’s box is pretty skincare-heavy, but since I’m sure that 99% of people have some sort of resolution to take better care of themselves, I can completely understand why. Unani’s a brand that I’ve never come across before. From my online digging, I’ve found out that it’s a Spanish family company which specialize in natural and organic ingredients. The Dermo Defense Face Mask has a light, gel-like texture which feels super calming and nourishing to apply. I’ve been popping it on after cleansing every couple of nights, as it’s designed to nourish sensitive skin whilst removing impurities.

Another new-to-me brand is Madara, whose Cellular Repair Serum is included in this month’s box. I’ve not tried this one out yet (as I’m currently road testing another serum) but it’s designed to be anti-aging, which is always a good thing!

DSC_0766

This rather eye-catching gem is a Teez lipstick in Oasis Gem. It’s a full sized product, and is a perfect little pick-me-up if you’re looking for something a little brighter in all this wintry weather.

DSC_0769

Oasis Gem is a bright pink-toned coral which should flatter most skintones, and it’s a lovely change from my regular pinky-nude choices. Mine looks a little battered as the lipstick itself fell out of the tube when I twisted it up, but it’s fine to use as long as I’m gentle with it. It has a super smooth texture thanks to the coconut oil in the formula, which is perfect for winter-parched lips.

DSC_0781

Naobay’s Orange Juice Hand Cream is next up, and it’s a lovely full sized tube of juicy goodness! I can’t get enough handcream at the moment – I’m desperately trying to have nice looking hands and nails, but my addiction to hand sanitizer as well as the cold weather has my digits looking less than perfect. The cream has a lovely light orange fragrance which smells perfectly fresh and fruity without feeling overpowering, and the formula is packed with Shea Butter, Chamomile, and Aloe Vera extracts to soothe and heal skin.

DSC_0756

Last up is the very generously sized Glossybox eyeshadow in Mauve. It’s a full sized product, and it feels huge compared to my shadows from brands like MAC. It’s a stunning cool toned mauve which is easy to wear and really flatters my hazel eyes. For day I’ve been using the shadow dry, but you can use the shadow with a damp brush to achieve a more dramatic look.

Glossybox has certainly started the year strong – I absolutely loved the mix of skincare and makeup, and it’s nice nice to have some fresh products to add to my collection for 2016! Will you be subscribing?

Rodial Beauty at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh*

Rodial Harvey Nichols Edinburgh

So Rodial might be a brand which is well known for beauty products with rather catchy names which deliver results. So, when I found out that they had a makeup range, I got rather excited! What I didn’t realise is, that, for the past year or so, Harvey Nichols in London have been selling the range, and it’s been rather successful. Thankfully, for those of us living a little further north, Harvey Nichols Edinburgh have a  brand new counter devoted to the brand’s makeup, so when I was kindly invited to get my makeup done I absolutely jumped at the chance!

Rodial at Harvey Nichols

The makeup collection is a wonderfully curated set of must-haves which include a super light Instaglam Skin Tint which is basically an Instagram filter in a tube and an Airbrush Concealer which makes any imperfections completely disappear without looking or feeling heavy. I opted for an easy to recreate natural look, and I just love how subtle the products were, and I completely fell in love with the Glamstick Lipstick in Bite. It’s the perfect nude colour, and it feels incredible on the lips!

Rodial at Harvey Nichols goodie bag

As if getting my makeup done wasn’t amazing enough, I was very kindly gifted a goodie bag filled with some of the brand’s incredible skincare. I love how generously sized they are – I’ve been getting over a week’s worth of use out of them, and I’m absolutely head over heels for them!

Rodial at Harvey Nichols Goodie bag 1

Getting to try out products like the Pink Diamond Instant Lifting Serum is such a thrill. The full size bottle is a rather splurge-worthy £250.00, so getting to use the serum at home is a lovely luxury!  The Bee Venom Cleansing Balm and Super Serum are a gorgeous little duo too! They smell incredible, and are such a lovely way to feel awake in the mornings!

Thank you so much to Rodial and Harvey Nichols Edinburgh for having me!
