Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Cheek Tint – Telluride*

What I think I love most about Bobbi Brown make up is how pretty and easy it is. You’ll never see a Bobbi girl looking too made-up, too forced, or like she took hours to do her makeup. Instead, the brand is all about easy prettiness – like you on a really good day. And in the summer, what more could you want?

I’d never tried Bobbi Brown’s Sheer Color Cheek Tint before, so when a stick of it popped through the letterbox, I got rather excited! Available in a range of three shades which encompass a bright candy floss (the aptly named Bright Pink), a deep berry (Sheer Lilac), and mine, a warm toned bronze (Telluride).

If you’ve been lucky enough to spend a few weeks sunning yourself in more exotic climes than Edinburgh, you’ve pretty much got to treat yourself to a stick of Telluride. It’s the perfect warm bronze which will highlight your tan, and make the beach feel like it’s only a step or two away. Whilst, for those less fortunate, Telluride adds the perfect amount of subtle sheen and colour to let you convincingly fake that vacation glow.

Using the Sheer Color Stick couldn’t be easier. After applying a lightweight base (my current favourite is Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua with a couple of drops of oil in it) I swipe a couple of dots of the blush over the apples of my cheeks towards my temples, then, using a dampened Beauty Blender I blend it in, making sure that it buffs seamlessly into my skin. I absolutely love how easy it is to control the colour – if I want a sheer wash of colour I just need a quick swipe, but a more intense look is easily achieved with a firmer sweep and less buffing. On the skin, it looks so natural, and leaves a subtle glow behind which is seriously stunning. It’s also a great little multi-tool to pop into your handbag when you’re out and about. I love a little of the formula dabbed onto lips and eyelids for a little subtle definition.

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contour Kit*

For me, summer skin is all about really beautiful natural looking skin that’s got a golden glow. Basically I like to look like I haven’t really tried too hard, but, as usual, it’s looks like this that require a little extra attention to appear really effortless!

So, in the hopes of looking naturally bronzed and defined, I’ve added Maybelline’s Master Sculpt contour kit into my everyday kit. Packaged in a dinky little compact, it contains everything you need to sculpt modelesque cheekbones – a pan of colour containing both a defining and highlighting shade, a mirror, and a little half moon brush.

Using the kit itself really couldn’t be simpler. After applying my usual base and concealer, I sweep a light dusting on the contour shade in the hollows of my cheekbones, around my temples and around my chin, then blend. I’m after a super natural finish, so I only use a touch of the colour, but it’s so easily to build up if you’re looking for something a little more dramatic.

I then add my bronzer like normal, then get to grips with the highlighting shade. It’s perfect if you’re after a natural, believable glow that looks like you’ve been on the green juice all weekend. Again, I use a light touch of it, focusing on the tops of my cheekbones, brow bones, the bridge of my nose and cupid’s bow. If I want to build up my highlight, I then go in with a different formula to add some sheen – although I keep this just to my upper cheekbones. Maybelline’s kit makes contouring feel so easy and effortless, and the formula is beautifully silky soft. It’s perfect for most skin tones too, as there are two colour ways to choose from!

Maybelline Studio Blush – Dare to Pink*

On a day-to-day basis, I don’t really wear blush. I have pink-toned skin, so adding extra on can sometimes be a little too much for day. Happily though, I’ve been adding a little self tanner into my skincare routine (let me know whether you would like to see it!) so an added pop of colour feels necessary.

On days where I’m feeling especially bronze, I’ve been reaching for Maybelline’s Dare to Pink blush, which is part of their Studio Range. It’s a stunning coral pink which is packaged in a rather slick slide top compact. It’s an almost-dupe for Nars’ rather iconic Orgasm, just without the pesky golden glitter.

Applied with a fluffily blush brush, Dare to Pink really wakes up the skin without feeling too loud or too bright. I just love the soft, almost satiny texture which leaves skin with a soft flush and subtle sheen. The colour payoff is wonderful, and is comparable to my higher-end blushes. The wear-time too is impressive. I get through a whole day without the colour fading away, and I love the healthy glow it leaves!

Rodial Blusher – South Beach*

Up until a couple of months ago, I thought Rodial was a skincare-only brand that concentrated on producing seriously effective products which looked as good as their promises, but then I got invited into Harvey Nichols where I promptly fell in love with the entire range.

Right in time for the gorgeous weather we’ve been enjoying in Scotland, Rodial very kindly sent over their stunning Blusher in South Beach, and to say I’ve been infatuated is something of an understatement! Firstly, the packaging is really something special. Rodial haven’t scrimped with a boring old compact, instead this one is a super slick mix of leather and silver, with a rather large shiny ‘R’ that just screams glamour. It feels lovely to hold, and there isn’t a chance of it getting ignored in my makeup bag. It also shuts with a rather pleasing magnetic snap, so I don’t need to worry about it popping over and crumbling everywhere.

Rodial’s Blusher comes in two colours – Copacabana, a hot orange toned coral, and mine, South Beach, a beautiful baby pink that feels absolutely perfect for spring! I’m not sure about you, but since the weather has taken a turn for the better, I’ve been reaching for some brighter colours than usual (living in Scotland means 90% of my wardrobe is black, grey and navy) and as a result, I’ve been reaching for South Beach to give my complexion a believable pop of colour.

As if the packaging and absolutely stunning colour wasn’t enough, I’m glad to say the formula is absolute perfection! It’s a very lightweight powder, and it leaves a really natural looking flush on the skin. It’s designed to leave you looking radiant, so even if you pop a little more than usual, or if you like to build colour, Rodial won’t let you down! It’s staying power is really impressive. I swirl a little on the apples of my cheeks in the mornings, and by end of day I still have a pretty amount of flush. I can guarantee that I’ll be reaching for this all the way through the summer!

Maybelline Baby Lips Balm & Blush*

I’m absolutely loving the glowy no-makeup look for skin, and obviously I’m not the only one. Maybelline have just extended their rather wonderful Baby Lips line to include a balm which can be used on both lips and cheeks to create a super cute makeup look. They’re also packaged like little sweeties which is just too adorable!

Probably the brightest of the four available shades is Blooming Ruby. It’s a stunning pink-toned red which adds a much need pop of colour to my winter-pale skin. I tend to use it when I’m feeling a little blah as the colour is just so pretty!

On the lips it gives a really beautiful just-bitten kind of a look, and the colour can be built up. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for an easy wear to wear red lips, or if you’re after a summer-appropriate version. Rolled across the tops of my cheek bones and blended in, Blooming Ruby gives a perfect pop of rosy colour.

Shimmering Bronze is probably the shade I was most nervous of trying since I tend to stick  powder blush formulas. I shouldn’t have worried though, as the formula is so sheer and gives such a believable wash of colour, it’s absolutely fool proof to use.

Although Shimmering Bronze looks quite dark in colour, it melts into skin leaving behind a really believable tan. Swiped over my nose, cheek bones and brow bones, with a touch on my forehead and chin, the Baby Lips Balm & Blush makes me feel like I’ve just come in from the beach. The tiny golden shimmers in the formula makes skin look flawless. It’s also beautiful worn on the eyelids as a subtle eye gloss – it gives definition without looking heavy.

I cannot wait until I have a bit of a tan to fully enjoy Innocent Peach. As you can imagine, it’s a lovely peachy shade which just screams summer.

I’ve been mostly using it on my lips as it’s such a flattering colour. It makes me feel super spring-y. It’s also a nice way to change up my regular nude-lip.

Flirty Pink is the shade that I reached for first when the four popped through the door. In a word it’s stunning. I absolutely love how it looks like it should be almost neon, but instead it’s the perfect flirty pink that’s as pretty on cheeks as it is on lips.

On the lips it gives an absolutely stunning wash of pink, and it is a perfect blush colour. Whenever I’ve been looking a little pale, a quick slick of the stuff makes me look and feel far perkier.
