SK-II Facial Treatment Mask*

SK-II Facial Treatment Mask

Over the past couple of years, Korean skincare has really taken a hold of the beauty world. In the past, face masks have always just consisted of creams and gels which are applied and then washed off, leaving your skin either cleansed, hydrated or toned. I think SK-II was the first sheet mask I ever read about, and I’ve been dying to try them out ever since! facial-treatment-mask

After cleansing, I simply applied the mask and lay back. I have it admit, it’s hilariously terrifying, so it’s best to enjoy the mask in private. It couldn’t be easier to use though – the mask is comprised of cotton which has been soaked in Pitera™. This formula is designed to provide serious levels of moisturisation, resulting in a visibly radiant and crystal clear complexion. Before I used the mask, I popped it in the fridge for a few hours, and it felt lovely and soothing to enjoy. I left the mask on for a good half an hour, and when I took it off, my skin felt super calmed and smooth, and the next morning I could still really see the difference. Since the masks all come individually packaged, it means they are perfect for travelling, especially if like me, your skin freaks out the moment you hit 20,000ft!

SK-II Facial Treatment Masks are priced at £60.00 for a pack of 6 and are available here (UK) and here (US).

Harvey Nichols A Beautiful Mind Event

DSC_0011

Whenever I feel like treating myself to something a little luxurious, Harvey Nichols Edinburgh is always my first stop. The beauty hall is something to behold – all white and glossy and filled with the most marvellous cosmetics you can imagine!

So, you can understand how excited I was when I heard about last night’s A Beautiful Mind event. To allow you to  fully get to grips with everything new in the world of Beauty, Harvey Nichols sometime hosts evenings like this. They are such a wonderful idea – the rest of the store is closed, so you feel like you’ve been let loose in the department, which is just filled with experts and people as obsessed with beauty as you are!

Absolutely every brand in-store takes part, which means you get to have a chat with everyone from Chanel to Sisely, and if you are interested in any products, they are more than happy to let you play about with it!

Since most of the brands have new releases at this time of year, it is the perfect way to learn about the newest lotions and potions.

Throughout the evening there were demonstrations on everything from how to contour to fillers thanks to the store’s own MediSpa, and it was just blissful floating from counter to counter learning about what’s new!

Prosecco helped the evening to start with a pop, and those who were after a slightly more healthful option were catered to with Kale shots courtesy of Nails Inc and a whole selection of drinks from Tea Pig. (On another note, how awesome are the Nails Inc girls’ sweatshirts! I was severely jealous!)

I could have spent the entire evening swatching away, chatting about all the new and beautiful things which are new in for Spring! I have now added several items to my (already overly long) wish list, and I may have purchased a few of my new must haves!

*Thank you to Harvey Nichols Edinburgh for inviting me to A Beautiful Mind evening*

Chanel Beaute Des Ongles Extreme Shine Nail Lacquer*

Chanel Beaute Des Ongles Extreme Shine Nail Lacquer

I have, what might be called ‘fussy nails.’ They don’t really grow too long, they don’t like certain brands of polish, and they chip super easy, so in my attempts to appease my oh-so-fussy nails, I stumbled apron the awesomeness which is Chanel Beaute Des Ongle Extreme Shine Nail Lacquer whilst I was browsing on the Click Fragrance website. It’s an absolutely genius site which has all of my favorite brands (think Chanel, Dior, Clarins and Bulgari among hundreds of others) at reduced prices. They have an amazing selection which includes everything from designer perfume to lipgloss all at cheaper than regular prices – you can check them out here.

It may not have the catchiest name in the bunch, but this is some serious top coat! It comes packaged in an achingly chic black bottle, complete with detachable cap.

For the past year or so I’ve been using the Chanel Protective Base under all of my polishes, so I thought it was high time I tried out the top coat too!

After applying a thin layer of my base coat, and two coats of my beloved Chanel Ballerina, I painted a layer of the Extreme Shine on top. It didn’t snag or pull on the colour, and thankfully there were no bubbles. Instead, I was left with gorgeously shiny tips which have remained chip free and super shiny for the past three days! (an absolute age for my picky nails) I am absolutely in love with this top coat, and I can’t believe I haven’t gotten round to trying it before now! The fact that I now know where to find cheap Chanel nail polish just makes me so happy!

The Chanel Beaute Des Ongles Extreme Shine Nail Lacquer costs £20.95 from Click Fragrance, and it’s available here.

10 Over 10 Salon – Tribeca

DSC01346

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to post my review of 10 Over 10 salon which I visited when I was most recently in New York.

I had been aching to head down to Tribeca and try the salon for ever! It’s a perennial favourite of the who’s who of the fashion industry, and I had heard only good things about the place. Located between Duane and Reade Street, you have to look out for a cute little neon sign, and then head up the stairs. Even though I didn’t have an appointment, I was accommodated for a mani pedi, and I got to work choosing my colours, whilst sipping on green tea.

The sheer choice of colours available was beyond impressive. As well as having every Essie shade I could think of, as well as many, many more, I could choose from Chanel, Nars and 10 Over 10 own brand polishes – I was in heaven. I’m so picky when it comes to polish, and I really appreciated not having to tote my own along with me. I went for Chanel Fracas for hands and toes, and looked forward to the treatment.

When it was time for my pedi, I got shown to a comfy little chair and invited to relax whilst my technician got to work. The view is incredible – as warm light shone in I had the perfect people-watching spot for the entire duration. It was bliss. My feet were silky smooth afterwards, and I was super impressed with techniques used. This might sound a little odd, but the shape which my nails were filed into were perfect.

Following my pedi, I was shown to the manicure bar, where my fingers were suitably pampered – the service was blissful, and the technician didn’t blink an eye when I asked for an extra dose of acetone before polishing since my nails chip ridiculously easy. Unlike regular nail salons, there is no UV light which dries the polish, instead 10 Over 10 has developed their own special oil which dries polish quickly without bubbling or any other negative consequences. The mani lasted for around 4 days on me (a marathon by all accounts) and the pedi a week, and the whole experience was blissful. The salon is such a perfect little hideaway if city life is getting too much!
