Ishga Rejuvenating Eye Balm*

dsc_0384

Considering I’ve been pretty much obsessed with skincare since I could walk, it’s probably no surprise that I’ve tried a few eye creams in my time. By the time I was about 14 I slathered the stuff on nightly (much to my mother’s amusement) and I’ve kept up my routine ever since. Recently though, I’ve started to apply eye cream in the mornings, a little massaged in prior to foundation and concealer leaves my skin hydrated all day, and it keeps my makeup in place too!

My current favourite for day use is Ishga’s Rejuvenating Eye Balm. The Scottish skincare brand, which uses Hebridean seaweed as the basis of all of their products, is so gentle on delicate skin, and I have just fallen in love with their products! The Rejuvenating Eye Balm is a new release for Ishga, and it’s perfect if you’re in need of a little hydration! I use a single pump of the formula, and massage it into my under eye area. Then, I’m good to go – I apply my makeup as normal, and I can’t even tell you how smoothly it applies! Even well into the afternoon, when I normally require a bit of a touch up to  feel human, but after using Ishga, my eye make up still looks freshly applied.

Ishga’s Rejuvenating Eye Balm will be released soon!

Kiehl’s on Wheels hits Edinburgh*

DSC_0689Last week, on a rare sunny evening, I meandered over to George Street after work to check out the most colourful display on George Street. Kiehl’s brand new bus rolled into town a week or so ago, and has been providing the city with the best beauty products ever since.

DSC_0745

Considering I use and adore at least five separate Kiehl’s every morning, it was a no brainer that I would head down and see what the brand was up to, plus it’s always fun to go to blogger events. Kiehl’s, I’m glad to say, didn’t disappoint – with the most adorable picnic benches laden with goodie bags, it was so lovely to meet some Edinburgh-based bloggers.

DSC_0707

After some introductions, as well as a snoop around the Kiehl’s bus (it’s packed with brand favourites for skin, hair and body) it was time for the evening to begin. We packed into the benches, and got to grips with learning all about the best of what Kiehl’s have to offer.

DSC_0714

Jennifer (from Tartan Brunette) bravely volunteered to be the model for the evening, letting Kiehl’s expert Holly demonstrate how to best use and apply each product.

DSC_0742

Starting right from the basics, we sniffed, rubbed and patted in a whole shelf of products, falling harder in love each time. There were a tonne of old favourites, including many which I use on a daily basis, but getting to try out products like the Ultra Facial Cleanser, means that my wish list has grown rather long since last week!

DSC_0771

There was a lucky-dip prize at the end of the evening, which the very lucky (and lovely) Emma from unf4bul0us won, and we all toddled home, clutching our groaning Kiehl’s bags. Very kindly, we were treated to a mix of hero products as well as some treats from a Scottish pop-up across the street, which I’ve been using ever since – I’d forgotten how great Kiehl’s old-school lip balm is! There was also a full size bottle of the new Cactus Flower Hydrating Mist, which is super handy, as I’ve blown through half of my first bottle already!

DSC_0705

The bus will be chilling in the middle of George Street for the next week or so, and then is starts up it’s travels again. So, if you hear it’s heading down your way, pop in, say hello, and treat yourself to something lovely!

Thank you to Holly, Kiehl’s and Kiehl’s on Wheels for having me!

Dermalogica launches their new Phyto Replenish Oil at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh*

DSC_0769

When an invite arrived in my inbox inviting me to the launch of a brand new Dermalogica product at Harvey Nichols, you can imagine how quickly I RSVP’d. I love a good skincare evening – the chance to learn about new products, as well as have a bit of a play around with them is always great fun, plus I just love learning insider tips from those in the know!

DSC_0831

So, on Thursday I popped into Edinburgh’s Harvey Nichols store for the pre-launch of Dermalogica’s brand new Phyto Replenish Oil. Not only was it a chance to have a bit of a play with the new oil, but it was also something of a launch for the Dermalogica counter which has only been around for six or so weeks.

DSC_0599

It’s an absolute beast of a counter, full of hi-tech corners with iPads mounted on the counter and informational videos. It’s a counter like no other – if you pick up an item, an accompanying screen lights up and tells you all about it, as well as how to best apply and use it. The whole experience is very interactive and educational, and I can’t wait to head back in to play around with it a bit more!

DSC_0596

So, after sitting down with a glass of Harvey Nichols Prosecco (which, I should add, is just delicious) we were introduced to Jean-Paul, Dermalogica’s only male skincare expert, who was leading the evening’s presentation. As well as learning about the new oil, we were treated to a demonstration of a FaceFit treatment, and taught all about facial massage.

DSC_0757

As someone with dry skin, I’m a big fan of facial oils – I apply one most nights, and I use a drop in my foundation daily, but I can understand why some people might be nervous. It’s easy to assume that using an oil will automatically make skin look wet or greasy, but since Dermalogica’s is non comedogenic, it doesn’t clog pores, instead it just disappears into the skin.

DSC_0686

The Phyto Replenish Oil is filled with goodness from Chia Oils among many other super hydrating and lightweight ingredients, and I can’t even tell you how good it feels on the skin. After passing a couple of bottles around the audience, we were instructed in a number of facial massages which have been specially designed to hydrate and moisturise.

Unknown

I’ve already started to include a little facial massage into my evening routine, so I’ll let you know if I start to see a difference! Then, we were all treated to some facial mapping. It’s a great little service that Dermalogica offer to see what and where your skin needs a little more TLC, and it’s nice to know your doing all the right things! Then, it was time to head home, laden with the most generous of goody bags – I was very kindly gifted a full size bottle of the Phyto Replenish Oil, which I’ve been testing all weekend. I’ll have a full review up soon, but spoiler alert – it’s a gem!

Dermalogica’s Phyto Replenish Oil launches on September 1st

*Thank you to Harvey Nichols Edinburgh and Dermalogica for inviting me to the event.

Su-Man Facial Glow Rejuvenating Mask*

su_pr_sachet_angle_image

If you know me, you know that Sunday evenings are face-mask night. It’s been something I’ve done since I was at school, and I look at it as a way to really relax prepare for the week ahead. After hitting the gym, I come home, run myself a bath, grab a book and slap on a clay mask. Then, once that’s hardened, I slough it off and then pop on a sheet mask. I’ve been given a sneak peek at Su-Man’s brand new Facial Glow Rejuvenating Face Masks, and I have to say, it’s a good one!

su_pr_frontface_sachet_image copy

Su-Man are releasing the masks exclusively at Selfridges on July 1st, and if you’re something of a sheet mask fiend, you have to order yourself a box of these! Like all sheet masks I’ve tried, Su-Man’s offering comes packaged in individual packets which you just tear open when you’re in the mood for a little pampering. The mask itself is inside, soaked in a generous 30ml of serum. Unlike most sheet masks I’ve tried, Su-Man’s is a bit of a monster – it’s made up of three layers (one gel layer in between two mesh), but you just use the gel layer on your face; it’s super lightweight, and it adheres better than others I’ve tried. It’s also quite large, meaning that it really will cover every inch of your face, and I think even the chaps can use this one! I tend to keep my sheet masks in the fridge, so it’s wonderfully cooling on the skin, and my face just drinks the formula up! Even the morning after the mask, my skin feels so moisturised, soft and smooth!

Su-Man’s Facial Glow Rejuvenating Face Masks will be available exclusively from Selfridges from July 11th.

Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick Collection*

Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Lipstick Collection

A few years ago, when Urban Decay teamed up with Disney to produce an eyeshadow palette, they created one of those products which go completely viral. A jewel box of colour had everyone (myself included) clamouring for one, and they’re still selling for hundreds on Ebay. So, with the new release of the sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass, Urban Decay got busy, and not only is there a dreamy new palette (review to come) but five somewhat trippy lipsticks too!

Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Lipstick packaging

Packaged in keliedoscope-esque tubes, the shades run the gamut from creamy neutrals to full on blue. So no matter how subtle or crazy your look is, there’s going to be something you love!

Urban Decay Alice

The shade Alice is undoubtedly the most wearable out of the five, and is described as a sheer nude with a pink shift. On the lips it gives a beautiful peachy hue with a subtle sheen. The pink micro glitter in the formula add a little warmth and interest to the formula. I can almost guarantee that you don’t have a nude shade quite like this one!

Urban Decay Iracebeth

Iracebeth is possibly my favourite colour from the collection and has been labelled as a bright matte red. Blue undertones in the formula keep teeth looking pearly white, and I just love the pop of colour against tanned skin during the summer. If you’re after a true-red lip, you should definitely check this one out! I got four hours of wear before I felt the need to touch up, and despite the matte formula, it didn’t feel at all drying.

Urban Decay MiranaMirana is one of those colours that I feel like every girl should own. It’s a stunningly vampy burgundy shade, which I am dying to wear throughout the winter. The formula has the most beautiful berry undertones which keep the shade looking fresh. It feels surprisingly balm-like, and I just love the subtle sheen that it has on the lips.

Urban Decay Mad Hatter Lipstick

Mad Hatter is definitely one of the most eye-catching shades I’ve ever tried, and I have to say, as unlikely as it is that I’m going to be popping into Waitrose rocking a purple sparkly lip, I kind of love it! The formula is so pretty and shiny, and on the lips it turns into an almost magenta-toned purple. I think this would be absolutely incredible on darker and richer skin tones than mine, so if you’re looking for a shade which is something a little different and crazy, this one’s for you!

Urban Decay TimeOf course I had to save the craziest shade for last! Time is described as a gunmetal navy with a silver finish. Honestly, this one is just so pretty, I’m keeping it as something of a collectable. On the lips it’s a true blue, and again, I’m thinking that a deeper skin tone would make this shade really come alive. Honestly, I’ve not worn this one enough to comment on wearability, but it’s just such a fun addition, I’m kind of in love!

Urban Decay’s Alice in Wonderland Lipstick Collection is priced at £16 per lipstick and you can find them here (UK) and here (US)
