Dermalogica launches their new Phyto Replenish Oil at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh*

When an invite arrived in my inbox inviting me to the launch of a brand new Dermalogica product at Harvey Nichols, you can imagine how quickly I RSVP’d. I love a good skincare evening – the chance to learn about new products, as well as have a bit of a play around with them is always great fun, plus I just love learning insider tips from those in the know!

So, on Thursday I popped into Edinburgh’s Harvey Nichols store for the pre-launch of Dermalogica’s brand new Phyto Replenish Oil. Not only was it a chance to have a bit of a play with the new oil, but it was also something of a launch for the Dermalogica counter which has only been around for six or so weeks.

DSC_0599

It’s an absolute beast of a counter, full of hi-tech corners with iPads mounted on the counter and informational videos. It’s a counter like no other – if you pick up an item, an accompanying screen lights up and tells you all about it, as well as how to best apply and use it. The whole experience is very interactive and educational, and I can’t wait to head back in to play around with it a bit more!

So, after sitting down with a glass of Harvey Nichols Prosecco (which, I should add, is just delicious) we were introduced to Jean-Paul, Dermalogica’s only male skincare expert, who was leading the evening’s presentation. As well as learning about the new oil, we were treated to a demonstration of a FaceFit treatment, and taught all about facial massage.

As someone with dry skin, I’m a big fan of facial oils – I apply one most nights, and I use a drop in my foundation daily, but I can understand why some people might be nervous. It’s easy to assume that using an oil will automatically make skin look wet or greasy, but since Dermalogica’s is non comedogenic, it doesn’t clog pores, instead it just disappears into the skin.

The Phyto Replenish Oil is filled with goodness from Chia Oils among many other super hydrating and lightweight ingredients, and I can’t even tell you how good it feels on the skin. After passing a couple of bottles around the audience, we were instructed in a number of facial massages which have been specially designed to hydrate and moisturise.

I’ve already started to include a little facial massage into my evening routine, so I’ll let you know if I start to see a difference! Then, we were all treated to some facial mapping. It’s a great little service that Dermalogica offer to see what and where your skin needs a little more TLC, and it’s nice to know your doing all the right things! Then, it was time to head home, laden with the most generous of goody bags – I was very kindly gifted a full size bottle of the Phyto Replenish Oil, which I’ve been testing all weekend. I’ll have a full review up soon, but spoiler alert – it’s a gem!

Dermalogica’s Phyto Replenish Oil launches on September 1st

*Thank you to Harvey Nichols Edinburgh and Dermalogica for inviting me to the event.

Sisley Gentle Buffing Facial Cream

Sisley Gentle Buffing Facial Cream

Sisley is one of those brands I can’t help but love. Everything about them, from the packaging, to the products themselves, just feels so wonderfully chic and luxurious. The Gentle Buffing Facial Cream is no different.

Sisley Gentle Buffing Facial Cream 1

I first read about the Gentle Facial Buffing Cream about a year ago in a US magazine. The article warned that after this one, no other exfoliator would do. I scoffed a little, wondering what could be so different about a buffing cream, then moved on to something else.

But something happened when I was at the Sisley counter – I couldn’t get the article out of my head, and I just had to try it, even just prove something to myself. Well, I have to tell you something – this one’s a game changer!

As someone with sensitive skin, I do have to be careful when exfoliating. Too little leaves my skin looking completely dry and blah, too much, it’s sensitised and pink. Neither option is exactly ideal, but thankfully, Sisley’s Gentle Buffing Facial Cream is just perfection. After cleansing my skin, on slightly damp skin, I apply a little of the mask all over myself, much like a regular clay mask.

The scent is pleasingly light and soapy-smelling, and it just takes five minutes for the mask to dry out and slightly harden. Then, standing over the sink, I take my fingers and sweep them over my skin in an upwards motion. The Gentle Buffing Cream just kind of crumbles away, taking the dead skin with it. I cannot even begin to tell you how soft my skin feels after I use it, and it never feels too dried out or tight after using it. Instead my face feels truly refreshed, and my makeup applies like a dream!

Sisley Gentle Buffing Facial Cream is priced at £49.50 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Tempo Tea Edinburgh

DSC_0065

For the amount of time that I spend in Edinburgh, I’m kind of embarrassed at how little time I spend in the Old Town. I’m far more likely to bounce around New Town or Bruntsfield. Basically, if there’s Georgian architecture around I’m there. That’s starting to change though, and since the development of the Waverley Arches, I’ve been starting to venture further up the Royal Mile on a rather regular basis.

DSC_0034

If you’ve not found your way up there yet, I’m telling you, you need to. Edinburgh has taken some abandoned railway arches and transformed them into a street of adorable little  businesses which are all super chic and are just what the city has been needing!

DSC_0009

The archway I think that I’ve been hitting up the most though, has to be Tempo Tea. It’s an adorable little nook which specialises in every kind of bubble tea you can imagine. If you’ve never tried bubble tea before, and you’re anywhere near Edinburgh, you have to try it out! Basically you choose a flavour, whether you want milk or fruit tea, what tea you want, and then if you want tapioca pearls, popping bobas or a sort of aloe jelly.

DSC_0012

I don’t think I’m selling it well, but trust me, they’re delicious! I first got hooked on Bubble Tea when I lived in Dubai – there was a great one in the Dubai Mall which I visited on an all too regular basis, and I feel like I’m going down the same road with Tempo Tea.

DSC_0019

The shop itself is a dream. It’s teeny tiny, but it’s just so cute! On one wall you can find CDs, T shirts and special candies, whilst the other side has some seating, complete with post-its to scribble on and wall mounted iPads for selfies. It’s such a cute little cafe, and I just love the attention to detail – even the lights are bubbles!

I’ve been working my way through the menu, and I’ve been seriously impressed with Tempo Tea’s offerings. You can order your tea anyway, and if you’re feeling brave, you can even experiment with combinations!

I’m not going to lie, it’s kind of embarrassing about how often I hit up Tempo Tea, but they are seriously addictive! My favourite at the moment has to be a XLarge Taro and Vanilla milk tea, with Assam and Tapioca Pearls. It’s got a hint of sweetness without being overpowering, and the pearls are so yummy! My friend grabbed a Banana milk tea with Assam and Tapioca Pearls, and it was delicious too! It pretty much tasted like those foam banana sweeties from childhood i.e. delicious!

If you’ve got a spare afternoon to spend in Edinburgh – head up to Tempo Tea and the Waverley Arches, I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains*

Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains 2

It feels like the sun has been shining for weeks, and I have to say, I’m absolutely loving it. Evenings have been spent outside, soaking up the warmth with friends, planning our summer adventures. What I’ve also been doing, is upping my skincare routine. I’m a big fan of exfoliating at the best of times, but the sunshine coupled with finally getting to wear summer clothes (as well as a little faux tan) means that I’ve rather upped my game!

So, when Aromatherapy Associates sent over their Natural Exfoliating Grains, I couldn’t have been happier! Talk about perfect timing! I’ve become more than a little obsessed with the tube, as it’s like no other scrub I have in my arsenal, because it’s completely customisable.

Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains 3

Unlike every other scrub in my collection, Aromatherapy Associates’ Natural Exfoliating Grains consists entirely of olive pit granules. It’s completely natural, and so great for your skin (and the environment). Rather than the plastic balls some scrubs use, these won’t build up in drains and cause distress to marine life, and unlike sugar which can sometimes be a little harsh on skin, these feel gentler as they’re so finely ground.

Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains 5

It couldn’t be simpler to use the Exfoliating Grains, just pick your body wash of choice, squirt a little into your hand, then pour some of the grains, mix then you’re good to go. If your skin is feeling particularly sensitised, or if you use the grains daily, you only need a little, or, you can increase the amount if you’re in need of a bit of a scrub down. I just love how easy they are to use, and the fact that they turn my favourite shower gel into a scrub too! I’ve been using mine with an Aromatherapy Associates one (see here) and it’s such a great way to end the day!

Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains are priced at £20 and are available here (UK) and here (US)

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Wash*

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Shower Gel

I’m not sure about you, but I’m far more productive in the mornings, and over the past few weeks, the early hours have been filled with the most glorious sunlight, meaning early mornings feel almost bearable! To be honest, I do enjoy being up before everyone else – I can get to the gym early, grab my machines of choice, and even get my coffee all before eight in the morning, but, getting myself really wide awake is always a bit of an issue.

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Shower Gel 2

So, when Aromatherapy Associates sent over their Revive Body Wash, I knew it was just what I was after to make my mornings even more productive! First off, I adore the super sleek packaging – complete with a pump dispenser. It looks so chic in the shower, and I love the fact that I only need a couple of pumps to really wake myself up!

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Shower Gel 4

The formula is wondrously thick and luxurious to use, and I am just obsessed with the scent! It’s so fresh and so clean thanks to the inclusion of bergamot, grapefruit and peppermint, and within a minute or so of using the Body Wash, the entire bathroom smells glorious!

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Shower Gel 3

Since Aromatherapy Associates only use the highest grade pure essential oils, it really is like a mini spa session every morning in the shower. I love how bright and fresh it leaves me feeling. It’s such a treat to look forward to every morning!

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Wash is priced at £27 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
