Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eyeshadow Palette*

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Eyeshadow Palette

When it comes to summertime makeup, I’m a big believer in the more natural the better. I love when you have naturally glowing skin, and all you need is a lick of mascara and something a little shiny and you’re good to go. Thankfully, Estee Lauder has answered my summer glamour prayers in the form of the brand new Bronze Goddess Eyeshadow Palette.

Packaged in the sleekest of golden compacts, the Bronze Goddess Eyeshadow Palette is pretty much summer in a nutshell. There are six shadows to choose from – a mix of must-have neutrals complete with a shimmering gold and jolt of marine blue.

The shadows are well balanced mix of mattes and shimmers, and the balance of shades is enough to see you through the longest of vacations. The formulas for the shadows is buttery perfection – wonderfully pigmented with serious colour payoff.

The left hand side of the palette is reserved for the three lightest shade. The bone shade on the far right is beautiful for highlighting the brow bone or as a blending shade. It’s perfectly matte, and I also like to use it in the inner corner of my eyes for a little brightness. Next up is the prettiest shell pink, which is perfect if you’re after subtle definition, or it’s also a stunning way to mix up my go-to brown smoky eye.

The central golden shade might just be my favourite. It’s a warm shimmering yellow-toned gold which looks like molten metal on skin. For evening, I tap a little into my inner eyes for a sleek update, and a little tapped into the centre of the eyelid gives eyes a beautiful gleam. The brightest shade in the palette is the marine blue which sits in the centre of the palette. It’s a really beautiful true sea blue which has a  stunning metallic finish. The shadow is quite sheer to begin with, but it’s easily built up to a rather stunning effect.

Beside the blue is possibly my most used shade – a stunning metallic taupe. Again, it has quite a highly reflective finish, and it’s so pretty worn sheered out over the lid as a wash of colour. It’s a perfect choice for everyday makeup too! It’s quite a warm-toned brown, so it’s great when you have a little colour! Last up is the palette’s deepest shade – a warm-toned chocolate brown which is super matte and super creamy. It’s just the thing for adding a little to drama to your eye makeup, and I just love to use it as a liner, as the colour payoff is so wonderful.

In addition to the six shadows, the Bronze Goddess Eyeshadow Palette also includes a nifty double ended applicator. With one end as a foam-tipped applicator, and the other a soft acrylic brush, it’s never going to be my first choice to use, but if I’m out and about and have forgotten my regular brushes, it does well in a pinch! The palette is pretty much a must-have if your jetting off anywhere this summer. The mix of colours and finishes of the shadows feels so well thought out, I’ve been reaching for it most mornings. It makes creating a multitude of looks so easy, and it doesn’t hurt that the packaging is to die for too!

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eyeshadow Palette is priced at £40.00 and is available here

Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon*

Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon

So, I don’t think that I’m the only one that’s more than a little obsessed with brows. I pluck them, fill them in, and condition them with a multitude of oils to keep them looking their best. Every morning I usually fill them in with one of my brow kits, but since Maybelline sent over their brand new Brow Drama Pomade Crayons, I have to say, keeping my brows looking full every morning has become a whole lot easier!

Available in three shades (I think there are four in the US), the Brow Drama Crayons make rocking a full brow as easy as colouring in! I have to say, I’ve never really dabbled in Maybelline’s brow offerings before, but I have been so impressed. The three colours should suit most people’s colouring, and the blonde option (Dark Blond) is the stuff of dreams. Usually when I try out blonde brow products, the colour veers either way too ashy and grey, or weirdly warm and red. Instead Maybelline sticks with a perfectly cool blonde which provides definition without looking heavy.

To use the Pomade crayons, I just use a spoolie brush to shape my brows, then lightly draw on the crayon using feathery strokes. Since it’s quite a thick tip, it doesn’t give hair-like strokes, instead it just fills in the brow without looking heavy. Then, once I’m happy with the shape and definition, I comb through my regular brow gel to keep everything in place. The colour lasts all day, and I am just in love with the colour!

Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon is priced at £5.99 each and they’re available here (UK) and here (US)

Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani Brow Box*

Ok, before I even start this review, I should probably admit to being complete, utterly and hopelessly obsessed with the new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Collection. It’s just such a perfect mix of awesome products, stunning packaging and Hollywood glamour, that it’s impossible not to be a little obsessed! What I also just adore about the collection is how wearable the products are for everyday use. Even though I’m a big fan of a neutral day look, Gwen’s products are in constant rotation for me, so I thought I would start with the dinkiest piece of the collection – the Brow Box.

To be honest, I had no idea that Urban Decay did Brow Boxes, but I’m so glad they do! They’re little chunky parcels which consist of two levels – the top containing two powders and a wax, whilst the bottom stores two of the teeniest brushes and a dinky pair of tweezers. Basically everything you need to keep your brows ‘on fleck’ even if your out and about or travelling.

Gwen’s Brow Box is absolutely perfect for blondes – the two powders are a lighter and darker cool taupe colour, and neither contain any hints of warmth or redness, so important when creating a naturally defined looking brow!

Using the Brow Box couldn’t be simpler – I brush my eyebrows upwards, and then brush through some of the wax. Then, using an angled brow brush, I apply the lighter shade to the start of my brows, then work the darker shade into the rest, creating a naturally defined look. The powders have the loveliest, almost buttery consistency, with great colour payoff, so you only need a light touch and a couple of seconds and your good to go!

The little tools stored in the lower compartment of the Brow Box are just the cutest! Both of the brushes have nice stiff bristles, meaning they’re easy to control, and the golden tweezers are just amazing! Even though they look pocket-sized, they catch even the smallest of hairs, meaning you now have no excuse for messy brows!

Urban Decay’s Gwen Stefani Brow Box is limited edition, priced at £19.50 and is available here.

Clarins Eyebrow Pencil – 02*

Clarins Eyebrow Pencil 02

I think that Clarins must keep their eyebrow products for their Autumn collections – I’m still in love with their Perfect Eyes & Brows palette from last year (see my review here). This season’s offering is a bit lower maintenance, with a renewal of their Eyebrow Pencil.

Clarins Eyebrow Pencil 02 1

Clarins’ Eyebrow Pencil is perfect if you’re after a natural amount of definition. Packaged in a rather similar manner to their eyeliners, One end of the pencil contains the colour, whilst the other is topped with a stiff spoolie brush. For best effects, I tend to apply the pencil with feather light brush strokes, then brush through with the spoolie.

Clarins Eyebrow Pencil 02 2

The pencil is pigmented enough that a few strokes give brows both colour and definition, and the cool tone of the pencil keeps it looking natural. As part of the Autumn collection, Clarins are releasing two colours – 01 Soft Blonde and 02 Brown (pictured) so no matter what your colouring, your brows can look amazing!

Clarins Eyebrow Pencil will be priced at £17.00 and will be released soon.
