Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue Fair/Light*

perfect-me-perfect-hue-eye-cheek-palette-fairlight-palette-caseDo you know when you see something and just know it’s going to be great? It’s the best feeling, and one that doesn’t happen too regularly. So, when Stila’s Perfect Me Perfect Hue palette appeared a few weeks back, I got rather excited.

I fell in love with the packaging first, and it would be hard not to! The compact is sizeable enough to hold five good sized shadows and two blushes comfortably, and it’s a stunning brushed gold. The lid is also covered in a self-coloured leopard print which is just adorable!

The Perfect Me Perfect You palettes are available in three colour ways – Fair/Light, Medium/Tan and Tan/Deep. I was sent the lightest option, and for my colouring, it’s perfection.

Fair/Light is the most perfect mix of cool, blue toned pink, and slightly warmer peaches. If you’re looking for a palette that’s going to leave you looking natural and groomed – this is the compact for you!

The Perfect Me Perfect Hue palette is a real lifesaver in the mornings! It takes the guesswork out of makeup, and I love the fact that each product serves a purpose (which Stila have helpfully included on the base of the compact).

Working from the top, I cover my entire lid, all the way to my brow bone in the base (top left) using a fluffy brush. Then, I buff the highlighting shade (top centre) into my brow bone and in the inner corner of my eyes. It’s seriously brightening, and it eradicated the damage done by late nights! I then buff in the taupe (top right) into my crease, making sure that there are no harsh lines. Then the fun begins! Using my ring finger, I then pat the centre glitter shade onto my lids. I’m obsessed with the texture of the shadows. They’re all buttery smooth, with wonderful colour payoff, and they are perfectly bendable. To finish my eyes, using an angled brush, I smudge the deep chocolate brown into my lash line, making sure it’s not too harsh a line.

Then, once I’ve applied my bronzer, I swirl a little of the peachy blush from my cheek bones up to my temples, then add a little pop of the blue pink blush to the apples of my cheeks. The formulas of both are just dreamy and add a believable glow (which is very necessary on these dark mornings!) which lasts all day. I’m so glad that I’ve discovered this little gem – I’m currently contemplating which bits and bobs to take with me on a few trips I have lined up, and I know this one is coming with me!

The Three Best Bronzers*

DSC_0076I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but it kind of feels like summer is coming to a close. We’ve had an absolute tonne of rain recently, and it’s getting a bit cooler. Not only that but it’s getting dark earlier and I’m feeling paler than ever, so in an effort to combat the oncoming winter-blues, I thought I would gather together three of my favourite bronzers which are making me feel a little more human! I’ve not featured these three on the blog before, so I will have in-depth reviews of each very soon, but I thought you’d appreciate a quick overview!

Burberry’s Summer Glow Warm Glow Natural Bronzer in 04 is the perfect choice for a super natural, beach ready tan. Packaged in a seriously luxe compact, etched with the iconic Burberry check, this is a real show-stopper of a bronzer, and I’m happy to say, the formula is as great as it looks! The powder is also pressed into an abstract check pattern, and it’s almost a crime to use it. Well, it would be if it wasn’t such a great little gem of a bronzer. It’s super lightweight and provides a seriously natural glow.

Sisley’s Phyto Touch Illuminating Powder might just be the most glamorous compact in my collection! A seriously shiny silver compact, which opens to reveal golden sun beams, complete with an embossed ‘s.’ Sisley’s Phyto Touch looks like it should be used exclusively on Victoria’s Secret models as it’s just the most gloriously shiny confection. It’s a hybrid gel-powder which gives skin a serious glow and a natural hint of colour. I’ve been saving this one for evenings out as it’s such a gem!

Last up is Rodial’s Instaglam bronzer. As the name would suggest, this one feels like a filter in a (rather glam) compact! Unlike the other two, Rodial’s offering is completely matte, meaning it’s just perfect for everyday wear. I love a dusting of this for days when I want to feel casual, yet still pulled together. It’s almost a multi-use product as, because it’s matte, it’s also perfect for a little subtle contouring.

Burberry’s Summer Glow is priced at £31 and is available here.

Sisley’s Phyto Touch Illuminating Powder is priced at £66.50 and is available here.

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contour Kit*

Maybelline Master Sculpt

For me, summer skin is all about really beautiful natural looking skin that’s got a golden glow. Basically I like to look like I haven’t really tried too hard, but, as usual, it’s looks like this that require a little extra attention to appear really effortless!

Maybelline Master Sculpt 1

So, in the hopes of looking naturally bronzed and defined, I’ve added Maybelline’s Master Sculpt contour kit into my everyday kit. Packaged in a dinky little compact, it contains everything you need to sculpt modelesque cheekbones – a pan of colour containing both a defining and highlighting shade, a mirror, and a little half moon brush.

Maybelline Master Sculpt 2

Using the kit itself really couldn’t be simpler. After applying my usual base and concealer, I sweep a light dusting on the contour shade in the hollows of my cheekbones, around my temples and around my chin, then blend. I’m after a super natural finish, so I only use a touch of the colour, but it’s so easily to build up if you’re looking for something a little more dramatic.

Maybelline Master Sculpt 3

I then add my bronzer like normal, then get to grips with the highlighting shade. It’s perfect if you’re after a natural, believable glow that looks like you’ve been on the green juice all weekend. Again, I use a light touch of it, focusing on the tops of my cheekbones, brow bones, the bridge of my nose and cupid’s bow. If I want to build up my highlight, I then go in with a different formula to add some sheen – although I keep this just to my upper cheekbones. Maybelline’s kit makes contouring feel so easy and effortless, and the formula is beautifully silky soft. It’s perfect for most skin tones too, as there are two colour ways to choose from!

Maybelline’s Master Sculpt Contour Kit is priced at £6.99 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Rodial Blusher – South Beach*

DSC_0226

Up until a couple of months ago, I thought Rodial was a skincare-only brand that concentrated on producing seriously effective products which looked as good as their promises, but then I got invited into Harvey Nichols where I promptly fell in love with the entire range.

DSC_0259

Right in time for the gorgeous weather we’ve been enjoying in Scotland, Rodial very kindly sent over their stunning Blusher in South Beach, and to say I’ve been infatuated is something of an understatement! Firstly, the packaging is really something special. Rodial haven’t scrimped with a boring old compact, instead this one is a super slick mix of leather and silver, with a rather large shiny ‘R’ that just screams glamour. It feels lovely to hold, and there isn’t a chance of it getting ignored in my makeup bag. It also shuts with a rather pleasing magnetic snap, so I don’t need to worry about it popping over and crumbling everywhere.

DSC_0267

Rodial’s Blusher comes in two colours – Copacabana, a hot orange toned coral, and mine, South Beach, a beautiful baby pink that feels absolutely perfect for spring! I’m not sure about you, but since the weather has taken a turn for the better, I’ve been reaching for some brighter colours than usual (living in Scotland means 90% of my wardrobe is black, grey and navy) and as a result, I’ve been reaching for South Beach to give my complexion a believable pop of colour.

DSC_0276

As if the packaging and absolutely stunning colour wasn’t enough, I’m glad to say the formula is absolute perfection! It’s a very lightweight powder, and it leaves a really natural looking flush on the skin. It’s designed to leave you looking radiant, so even if you pop a little more than usual, or if you like to build colour, Rodial won’t let you down! It’s staying power is really impressive. I swirl a little on the apples of my cheeks in the mornings, and by end of day I still have a pretty amount of flush. I can guarantee that I’ll be reaching for this all the way through the summer!

Rodial South Beach Blusher is priced at £30.00 and is available here.

Kiko Matte Fusion Pressed Powder*

DSC_0585

I’m all about having super natural glowing skin, especially now that we’re getting closer to the summer. So, you might think I’m crazy for getting excited over a powder, but Kiko have just released their brand new Matte Fusion Powder.

DSC_0597

Packaged in a super sleek silver compact which holds both the powder and a latex sponge, The Matte Fusion is everything you need for perfect, airbrushed looking skin.

DSC_0606

Stamped with a double Kiko K, the Matte Fusion Powder is super finely milled perfection. If I want to set my makeup so it stays in place all day, I sweep a super light dusting of the powder over my forehead cheeks and nose.

DSC_0603

It works so well to combat greasy looking shine without leaving skin looking too heavy or cake-y. Obviously skin does tend to get shinier in the summer, so this is crucial for looking cool and collected throughout the season.

DSC_0620

Even applied over a full face of makeup, Kiko’s Matte Fusion Powder never feels too heavy or powdery. Instead it gives skin a beautiful glow and just erases the excess sheen. It’s also available in six shades, so every skin-tone will be able to find a match.

Kiko Matte Fusion Powder is priced at £12.90 and is available here.
