Kiehl’s on Wheels hits Edinburgh*

DSC_0689Last week, on a rare sunny evening, I meandered over to George Street after work to check out the most colourful display on George Street. Kiehl’s brand new bus rolled into town a week or so ago, and has been providing the city with the best beauty products ever since.

Considering I use and adore at least five separate Kiehl’s every morning, it was a no brainer that I would head down and see what the brand was up to, plus it’s always fun to go to blogger events. Kiehl’s, I’m glad to say, didn’t disappoint – with the most adorable picnic benches laden with goodie bags, it was so lovely to meet some Edinburgh-based bloggers.

After some introductions, as well as a snoop around the Kiehl’s bus (it’s packed with brand favourites for skin, hair and body) it was time for the evening to begin. We packed into the benches, and got to grips with learning all about the best of what Kiehl’s have to offer.

Jennifer (from Tartan Brunette) bravely volunteered to be the model for the evening, letting Kiehl’s expert Holly demonstrate how to best use and apply each product.

Starting right from the basics, we sniffed, rubbed and patted in a whole shelf of products, falling harder in love each time. There were a tonne of old favourites, including many which I use on a daily basis, but getting to try out products like the Ultra Facial Cleanser, means that my wish list has grown rather long since last week!

There was a lucky-dip prize at the end of the evening, which the very lucky (and lovely) Emma from unf4bul0us won, and we all toddled home, clutching our groaning Kiehl’s bags. Very kindly, we were treated to a mix of hero products as well as some treats from a Scottish pop-up across the street, which I’ve been using ever since – I’d forgotten how great Kiehl’s old-school lip balm is! There was also a full size bottle of the new Cactus Flower Hydrating Mist, which is super handy, as I’ve blown through half of my first bottle already!

The bus will be chilling in the middle of George Street for the next week or so, and then is starts up it’s travels again. So, if you hear it’s heading down your way, pop in, say hello, and treat yourself to something lovely!

Thank you to Holly, Kiehl’s and Kiehl’s on Wheels for having me!

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist*

DSC_0040

Last year I was lucky enough to experience one of Omorovicza’s incredible facials, when Harvey Nichols Edinburgh invited me for an afternoon of relaxation. Apart from glowing skin, I walked away with a skincare wish-list as long as my arm, and right up at the top was the Queen of Hungary Mist.

In addition to a name that makes me feel akin to Marie Antoinette (or perhaps Empress Elizabeth of Austria aka Queen of Hungary), the Facial Mist is just a study in luxurious perfection. As if I didn’t love the mist enough, Omorovicza have just released this new limited edition bottle, and it’s more than fair to say that I’m in love!

The glass bottle feels thick and sturdy to hold, and the designs which swirl round it are just beautiful. I don’t think it could look more summer-appropriate, and I’m just aching to throw it into a beach bag! As well as looking the part – my Queen of Hungary Mist is a real skin-saver. Last week we had some record temperatures, and a quick spritz of the mist kept me looking and feeling fresh all day, despite my trampling around three different towns and cities.

The mist is super-fine, and wouldn’t mess the most intricate of makeup looks. Instead, it just delivers the most perfect, cooling spritz that feels absolutely heavenly to apply. Scented with neroli and rose, a quick application is a super quick way to both relax and freshen skin. As well as using it as a way to cool down, the Queen of Hungary Mist can also be used as a gentle toner. It’s wonderful to use if your skin is slightly dry or sensitised, and I love a quick mist prior to applying a sheet mask.

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist Limited Edition Bottle is priced at £25.00 and is available here (UK) and regularly here (US)

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence*

SKII Facial Treatment Essence 2

SK-II is one of those brands I just drool over. Every product sounds pretty much life changing, and the reviews back them up, so when this special edition of their iconic Facial Treatment Essence came through the letterbox, I was more than a little excited!

SKII Facial Treatment Essence 3

Decorated with gorgeous red butterflies, the bottle is a special edition released exclusively to Harrods for the Holidays. You can choose from three colours (red, pink and blue) and they all have the most wonderful meanings. My red butterflies symbolise the ‘passion, courage, and boldness it takes for a woman to take control and change her destiny,’ which is a lovely little addition to a rather wonderful product!

SKII Facial Treatment Essence 1

The Facial Treatment Essence comes packaged in a huge 215ml brushed glass bottle, and it’s really something special. In my household, it’s become known as the ‘magic water’ because it’s so wonderful to use! After cleansing, I simply shake a few drops of the essence into my palms and press it into my face and neck. The formula is a touch thicker than regular water, but it feels so light and fretting to use, it’s perfect for waking my skin up in the morning.

SKII Facial Treatment Essence 4

The formula of the Facial Treatment Essence contains over 90% Pitera, an ingredient discovered by SK-II over 30 years ago which is hailed as something of a miracle worker! Discovered when the brand noticed the incredibly youthful hands of older Sake Brewers, Pitera is filled of vitamins, minerals and amino acids which work together to encourage skin’s natural surface rejuvenation.

SKII Facial Treatment Essence 6

Since the formula is so lightweight and pure, I have been applying it directly to my cleansed skin, and then leaving it to sink in. I then apply my moisturiser and makeup as normal, and I am absolutely in love with the results! In addition to feeling heavenly to apply, I’ve noticed that the Facial Treatment Essence has really calmed my skin down. If you suffer from breakouts or acne, just press a little of the Essence directly onto it, and wait for the results!

SKII Facial Treatment Essence 5

After only a couple of days I really noticed a reduction in redness, and a breakout I had was nearly gone. I think it’s safe to say that SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence has become one of my HG products!

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence is priced at £140 and is available exclusively here

Gazelli Skincare White Flower Hydra-Radiance Face Mist*

Gazelli White Flower Hydra-Radiance Face Mist 1

The weather has been pretty hideous here for the past few days – weirdly grey and rainy with high temperatures and a general sticky feeling. As you can imagine, it’s hard to stay feeling fresh though out the day, so I’ve been relying on my trusty bottle of Gazelli Skincare’s White Flower Hydra-Radiance Facial Mist in an attempt to feel human throughout the day.

Gazelli White Flower Hydra-Radiance Face Mist

Packaged in a beautifully chic opaque glass spray bottle, the White Flower Hydra-Radiance Face Mist is just bliss in a bottle! Unlike most facial mists, Gazelli Skincare’s offering features a dual action formula, which, with a shake of the bottle, combines White Flower Oil with Grape Seed Oil and Black Mulberry Extract as well as powerful antioxidants, Vitamin E and Omegas. This means that well as providing much needed refreshment, the Hydra-Radiance Facial Mist both hydrates and tones the skin. If your skin is sensitised by the sun, it’s also a great option as a gentle toner, and I tend to reach for it post-workout to help cool and soothe my skin which tends to get ruddy rather too easily.

Gazelli Skincare White Flower Hydra-Radiance Face Mist is priced at £42.00 and is available here
