Tan-Luxe The Water*

Despite living in Scotland aka the place where the sun never shines, I’ve never really gotten into fake tanners. They always seem a little messy and high maintenance for me. Plus I can’t stand when they make you smell weird and of biscuits, and no I been need to mention the annoying orange hands issue?

Tan-Luxe seem to have the same attitude as me, and, as a result, have produced a real game-changer of a tanner. First off, you’ll notice it looks nothing like any fake tan you’ve come across before. Rather than the usual creams, gels and foams, this is a water which you simply spritz on clean, exfoliated skin. The bottle comes with a handy spray applicator, so you can reach awkward areas like your back without enlisting some help.

Just before getting out of the shower,  I give myself a quick blast with cold water, just to make sure my pores are closed, giving me an even tan. I work from the bottom up so to speak, making sure to cover my skin with an even mist, then using a tanning mist, I use long, upwards strokes to rub it in. The formula does just feel like water, and doesn’t dry out skin, or leave it feeling oily, instead it just kind of disappears. I then head to bed and let the The Water do its magic. In the morning skin looks like I’ve spent a week somewhere rather exotic – there are no streaks or smears, just an even, believable tan!

Tan-Luxe The Water is priced at £33 and is available here.

Vita Liberata Trystal Bronzing Minerals – Sunkissed*

Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals - Sunkissed 3

If there’s one piece of makeup I reach for on a daily basis, it has to be bronzer. Even if I’m just popping out for one of my all too regular coffees, or just the gym, a quick swipe makes me feels more human. So, when I heard about Vita Liberata’s Trystal Bronzing Minerals which act as a subtle fake tan, as well as a bronzer, I knew I had to give them a go!

Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals - Sunkissed

Complete with the world’s softest kabuki brush, and packaged in a large screw top jar, the Trystal Bronzing Minerals are a super finely milled powder which contain micronised crystals for sheer, lightweight bronzing coverage as well as DHA for a lasting tan. If you’re pretty minimalist when it comes to your makeup, this is such a great choice as the tan lasts for up to five days after application!

Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals - Sunkissed 1

For best results, I tend to opt for the Trystal Bronzing Minerals on days that I’m just wearing a bit of moisturiser. After allowing my cream to sink in, I simply swirl the kabuki brush around the lid of the Bronzing Minerals jar, and apply as normal. Since the formula is so lightweight, it applies like an absolute dream, and gives you a super believable glow. The colour of the powder is perfection – it’s not too warm or muddy, instead it just gives a really beautiful, natural looking tan.

Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals - Sunkissed 2

When the Trystal Bronzing Minerals were released earlier this year, they sold out in two weeks, and I’m really not surprised! The finish they have when worn as a bronzer is gorgeous – the perfect amount of colour and coverage, and they are such a no fail way of applying facial fake tan! Even after cleansing, the Trystal Bronzing Minerals give skin a super natural wash of colour. Worn daily, the bronzer can also be used to really personalise your colour – it’s genius!

Vita Liberata Trystal Bronzing Minerals are priced at £35.00 and are available here (UK) and here (US)

Xen-Tan Mist Intense*

Xen Tan Mist Intense

Naturally, my skin sits somewhere between porcelain and paper white. It doesn’t really bother me too much, but when summer hits, I like to get a bit of colour. I never go too dark – my preference is a nice golden glow that looks healthy rather than baked.

Xen Tan Mist Intense 1

Xen-Tan’s Mist Intense is perfect if, like me, your after a wash of colour, but have somewhat klutzy tendencies. Rather than having to play around with foams, creams and gels, the Mist Intense only needs a couple of squirts to dispense the colour. It’s genius, and I especially appreciate it when I’m tanning areas like my back, shoulders and legs. Since the Xen-Tan Mist Intense is the darkest shade offered, I feel like it has some slimming properties too!

Xen Tan Mist Intense 2

After a thorough shower exfoliation, I use the Mist Intense on my legs, and all over the back of my body. The spray nozzle is super easy to use, and it disperses the formula evenly, meaning I don’t have to worry about being a streaky mess in the morning. After I’ve sprayed on the tan, I like to buff it in using the Xen-Tan Tanning Mit (review to come). Unlike a lot of tanning formulas, this has a sweet vanilla scent which isn’t too strong, and I just love the fact that the tan develops in about three hours! Another major plus is that Xen-Tan’s Mist Intense lasts for about a week, so I don’t have to worry about looking pale for days at a time!

Xen-Tan is on offer right now for £19.20 normally £24.00 and is available from M&S Beauty and here for US readers.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster*

 Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

Naturally my skin is pretty pale, although I do my best to disguise it with a quick dusting of bronzer every morning to give me what I hope is a healthy glow. But Clarins have introduced an absolutely genius product in the form of their Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster 1

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster is like a taylor-made self tanning product, as all you need to do in the morning is add up to three drops of the formula into your daily moisturiser, then just make sure you’ve massaged it all in.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster2

The bottle is a rather dinky 15ml, but it’s more than enough for over 3 months of use – so if you invest now, the bottle will last well into summer! I’m also pretty addicted to the results.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster3

I just love the natural glow that the Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster gives – there isn’t a hint of orange, but it’s more like the colour you get after an afternoon outside in the sunshine. I’m also a huge fan of the lack of fragrance – there isn’t a trace of the weird biscuit scent you sometimes get with fake tans. I am also seriously impressed with how easy the booster is to control – I use 1 to 2 drops every second day, just to maintain a glow. If you do want to get a little bit of a deeper colour, you can use up to 3 drops daily, and if you feel your colour needs to tone down a little, you just skip a day! Simple!

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster costs £18.00 and is available here.

Harvey Nichols A Beautiful Mind Event

Whenever I feel like treating myself to something a little luxurious, Harvey Nichols Edinburgh is always my first stop. The beauty hall is something to behold – all white and glossy and filled with the most marvellous cosmetics you can imagine!

So, you can understand how excited I was when I heard about last night’s A Beautiful Mind event. To allow you to  fully get to grips with everything new in the world of Beauty, Harvey Nichols sometime hosts evenings like this. They are such a wonderful idea – the rest of the store is closed, so you feel like you’ve been let loose in the department, which is just filled with experts and people as obsessed with beauty as you are!

Absolutely every brand in-store takes part, which means you get to have a chat with everyone from Chanel to Sisely, and if you are interested in any products, they are more than happy to let you play about with it!

Since most of the brands have new releases at this time of year, it is the perfect way to learn about the newest lotions and potions.

Throughout the evening there were demonstrations on everything from how to contour to fillers thanks to the store’s own MediSpa, and it was just blissful floating from counter to counter learning about what’s new!

Prosecco helped the evening to start with a pop, and those who were after a slightly more healthful option were catered to with Kale shots courtesy of Nails Inc and a whole selection of drinks from Tea Pig. (On another note, how awesome are the Nails Inc girls’ sweatshirts! I was severely jealous!)

I could have spent the entire evening swatching away, chatting about all the new and beautiful things which are new in for Spring! I have now added several items to my (already overly long) wish list, and I may have purchased a few of my new must haves!

*Thank you to Harvey Nichols Edinburgh for inviting me to A Beautiful Mind evening*
