Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Foundation*

dsc_0844For me, Elizabeth Arden has always been squarely a skincare brand. There’s been at least two tubes of their iconic 8 Hour Cream in the cupboard for as long as I can remember, and their overnight treatment has become a nighttime staple for me. So, I absolutely jumped at the chance to give their brand new Presage Anti-Aging Foundation a go.

It might sound a bit odd that I’m trying an anti-acing product when I’m still in my twenties, but when a product promises to protect skin from the elements as well as make it look great, well, who could resist?

Packaged in a slick, rather space-age pump-top bottle, the foundation in eight different shades. Those with very light or deep skin tones may struggle to find a match, but the finish of the foundation is medium-to-light, so you should be able to make it work. I only need a pump or two in the morning, and I’ve been applying it with my favourite foundation brush (this one). It applies smoothly, and leaves skin looking fresh and naturally glowy. It’s designed for normal to dry skin, and leaves it looking super fresh an smoothe – it’s the perfect base for the rest of my makeup. Crucially for me, it’s also incredibly lightweight, and doesn’t feel like I’m wearing a full face of makeup! If you’re in sunnier climes, it also contains an SPF30, which is so important!

Elizabeth Arden’s Prevage Anti-Ageing Foundation is priced at £40.50 and is available here (UK) and $65 here (US)

Rodial Skin Tint +*

Rodial Skin Tint 1

When I was at the Rodial event at Harvey Nichols a couple of weeks ago, I got to see Rodial’s skin tint in action, and I have to say, I was impressed! I’ve had a couple of tubes of the Skin Tint + in my ‘to try’ pile for a couple of months (oops!) but seeing them in action made me want to give them a run myself, and I have to say, I’ve been seriously impressed!

Rodial Skin Tint 2

I was kindly sent two of the five available shades (mine are Capri and The Hamptons) but the shades cater to even the deepest of skin tones. i was actually quite surprised at the amount of coverage the tints give – I was sure that they would be super sheer, but actually they do give skin a flawless base which eradicates redness and disguises any sort of tiredness or breakouts, they’re also pretty matte. One of the tips I picked up at the masterclass, was to add a drop of oil to the Skin Tint + prior to application to add a bit of luminosity and glow to the finish. It’s a hint that’s worked an absolute treat – I’ve been loving the results which perfect my skin.

Rodial Skin Tint + is priced at £45.00 and is available here.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Illuminator*

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Drops

Ok, so it’s not exactly news that I am just loving glowy skin at the moment. It’s just so pretty and fresh, and of course, perfect for summer! Estee Lauder obviously agrees, and they have just released their annual Bronze Goddess Collection, which is designed to keep you looking beautiful all season long!

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Drops 1

Packaged in a dinky little bottle, complete with drop applicator, the Summer Glow Illuminator might just be my favourite product out of the whole collection. When I first saw the Illuminator, I was worried it would leave too warm a cast on my skin (I have quite pink skin which I’m always toning down), but happily, I needn’t have worried. It’s the most glorious little product – after applying a light base and a little concealer, I simply dot a little of the illuminator over my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, my eyelids and my cupid’s bow. Then, just using my fingers, I blend it in and add a dusting of bronzer. Unlike may highlighter that leave a sparkling or frosted sheen, the Illuminating Drops give the skin a beautiful natural looking sheen. The drops make skin look so healthy and fresh, they really are just perfect for sunny weather. I can’t wait for warm evenings to add a little to my collar bones for an extra little sheen.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Drops are priced at £27.00 and are available here (UK) and here (US)

The Original Beauty Blender

Beauty Blender

It’s not often that a product completely sweeps the market and pretty much revolutionises   the beauty world. But I have to say, I think the Beauty Blender has done it! Before the neon pink sponge same onto the scene, most beauty blenders and sponges were big wedges of latex which pretty much smeared formula around. But now, beauty aisles are filled with egg-shaped sponges of varying colours promising flawless applications.

Beauty Blender 1

Despite dabbling in a number of rather expensive copy-cats, when I popped into Boots the other day, I couldn’t resist buying a second one. I did grab one a couple of years ago in East Hampton (review here) but I’m not too sure where that one ended up!

Beauty Blender 2

I’m happy to say, I think I love it even more than I did then! To use, I run the sponge under some lukewarm water to dampen it, and loosen it up a little. When the Beauty Blender soaks up water, it grows by about half its size, meaning it’s one of the largest sponges in my collection. It’s a complete dream to use. I’ve been using it with YSL’s new Touche Eclat Teint foundation (review to come) and I’m in love with the sheer, yet buildable coverage it gives. It gives skin a wonderful, perfected look, that feels incredibly natural and wears well all day. To be honest, I’m not sure why I got separated from my first Beauty Blender, but I do know that I’m a bit of a re-convert, and am going to pick up a spare the next time I see them! I’ve also seen that the Beauty Blender range has grown considerably, and I’m really quite keen to try the baby versions too!

The Original Beauty Blender is priced at £16.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Maybelline Dream Matte Velvet Foundation*

Maybelline Dream Matte Velvet

Ok, so the weather today is beyond gorgeous. Apparently it’s warmer in Edinburgh than it is in Barcelona, which doesn’t happen too regularly, so I’ve been doing the sensible thing and enjoying every second of it! So, as you can imagine, when I’m out and about, I want to look super fresh-faced and natural, not like I’m wearing a tonne of makeup!

Maybelline Dream Matte Velvet 1

A new find for me has been Maybelline’s brand new Dream Matte Velvet Foundation – a whipped gel formula which provides medium-to high coverage with a super natural finish.  It’s a really awesome option if you’re wanting a super natural but polished look, and it comes in seven colour options. I’ve been apply a tiny amount of the formula using my fingers, blending it into freshly moisturised skin. It’s amazing for covering redness or outbreaks without looking heavy, and all I need is a quick dusting of bronzer and a slick of mascara and I’m goo to go!

Maybelline Dream Matte Velvet Foundation is priced at £7.99 and is available here (UK) and here (US).
