Lancome Grandiose Extreme Mascara*

When it comes to mascara, I want three different things. I want it to be super black, very lengthening and give a huge whack of volume. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but I’m pretty hard to please, and rotate between a trio of favourites in a daily basis, so, when the newest offering from Lancome popped through the letterbox, I was seriously excited – their Hypnose (this one) is one of my favourites, so I had high expectations!

First off, I absolutely fell in love with the packaging. The Grandiose Extreme mascara is an updated formula of 2014’s Grandiose mascara, and the packaging is a take on the predecessor too. Matte black plastic looks absolutely beautiful – and I’m in love with the curvaceous shape – it just feels lovely to hold, and makes applying my mascara in the mornings an absolute joy!

Like the original, it also has the rose-encased lid. It’s just so pretty, and looks like it should be in the new Beauty and the Beast film!

The Grandiose Extreme has the same swan-neck brush as the original, and a plastic bristled brush head. Honestly, I was a little concerned about the brush, as typically I prefer big bush ones which sweep through lashes. But honestly, I shouldn’t have worried!

The brush slips through my lashes like a dream, and I can’t tell you how dark the formula it is! Lancome claim that the Grandiose Extreme has ultra black pigments, and I have to agree! This isn’t a formula for days when you want to look fresh-faced and natural. This one, in a single coat, makes lashes super-black, and makes them look miles long – it’s dramatic; it also adds a wonderful amount of volume! I just adore how the effects last all day too – there isn’t a hint of smudging or flaking, just perfect lashes, all day long!

Lancome Grandiose Extreme Mascara is priced at £25.00 and is available here (UK) and $32 here (US)

Esqido Big City Nights Lashes*

Esqido Lashes 1

So I’m not sure that there is anything quite as luxurious sounding as mink eyelashes. And if you’re in the market for a pair, I would highly recommend checking out US brand ESQIDO false eyelashes. They’ve glamorised everyone from Victoria’s Secret Angels to J-Lo, and they give you lashes like you’ve only dreamed of.

Esqido Big City Lights

One of my newest sets from the brand are the Big City Lights style. Like all the brand’s lashes, they’re made entirely from ethically sourced mink. That means nothing fluffy was hurt in the making of them – the fur is just gathered after being naturally shed, then fashioned into lashes. The use of mink (as well as sounding wonderfully decadent) means that the lashes are so lightweight and comfortable to wear.

Esqido Lashes Big City Nights

Big City Nights are beautiful, fluffy lashes which are perfect for evenings where I want to look more done. I apply a little tinted moisturiser, bronzer and highlight like normal, then sweep a shimmery bronze shadow over my lids. I smudge a chocolate-y shade into my lash line, then add my Big City Nights. Using a little of the ESQIDO eyelash glue, I pop them into place and I’m good to go. The Big City Nights lashes give my makeup a real dose of glamour to an easy makeup look, and they can be reused for up to 10 wears.

Esqido Big City Nights Lashes are priced at $35 and are available here.

Sisley So Curl Mascara*

Sisley So Curel Mascara review

Sisley is one of those brands you can’t help but adore. They’re unapologetically luxurious, and they produce both makeup and beauty products which have to be tried to be believed. Their face creams are among my holy grail items, and their Phyto Lip Twist hasn’t left my handbag since I received it! So, you can imagine how keen I was when I heard that they were releasing a brand new mascara – the So Curl.

Sisley So Curl Mascara

Packaged is a super chic, glossy black tube, Sisley’s So Curl promises to provide lashes with curl and instant volume as well as really caring for lashes. Unlike most mascaras, which just promise incredible definition until it comes time to cleanse, with continued wear, Sisley’s offering makes eyelashes appear thicker and fuller, appear stronger and more beautiful thanks to the inclusion of incredible ingredients such as Pro-vitamin B5, Rice Phytoceramides, Castor Oil, and Passionflower extract.

It’s this attention to detail in the formula which really sets Sisley apart from it’s competitors. The mascara isn’t just amazing for making lashes look seriously great, but it’s almost like a beauty treat for them too! I have to say, I haven’t so much as looked at another mascara since this one arrived as it does everything and more than you can imagine!

Sisley So Curl Mascara brush

The So Curl mascara makes lashes look super black, and incredibly long and full. I don’t even need to look at my eyelash curlers, the So Curl gives them the perfect amount of definition and curl too! As you can probably tell, I’m absolutely in love with Sisley’s newest product! It’s a real Holy Grail product, and it comes in three colours (black, brown, and navy) so if you’re looking for a little eye-update, run, don’t walk to your nearest Sisley counter!

Sisley So Curl Mascara is priced at  and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Paul & Joe Smudgeproof Mascara*

Paul & Joe Smudgeproof Mascara

Now that the weather is getting a whole lot better, I’m loving sporting a slightly lighter makeup look. I’ve ditched my heavier formulas, and I’ve even abandoned powder shadows in favour of lighter, creamier products. Another change I’ve made is the introduction of Paul & Joe’s Smudgeproof Mascara.

Paul & Joe Smudgeproof Mascara 1

First of all, the packaging is the definition of darling. Granted, I don’t understand why a black mascara is in a brown tube, but despite that, I’m absolutely loving the vintage-style packaging.

Paul & Joe Smudgeproof Mascara 2

Available in three colours (black, brown and blue), the first thing I loved about the mascara was the curved wand. I’ve been known to bend mascara wands myself, so getting one already one is such a nice treat. Unlike many of my mascaras, Paul & Joe’s doesn’t pump and plump lashes, instead it coats lashes, lengthens them, and leaves them glossy and black. The effect lasts all day, and true to the name, the mascara will.not.smudge! Even though I tried it out during a variety of activities – despite my best efforts at the gym, at work and walking along the beach, the mascara just stays put, leaving lashes looking great!

Paul & Joe Smudgeproof Mascara is priced at £17.00 and is available here.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara*

Ok, confession time, I admit to being something of a mascara snob. On a day to day basis I rotate between Chanel, Dior and Givenchy, and despite giving other brands a go, I’ve never really been wowed enough to mix up my favourite drawer. Until now that is!

When the tube of Maybelline’s new The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara arrived, I took photos of it, then popped it into my to-try box like normal. I hadn’t really heard anything about it, and figured it would be a decent back-up to keep in my car or gym bag for emergencies. Then I tried. In a word, it’s amazing! Super black, a formula that glides on leaving lashes looking long, full and thick, and it lasts all day. At no point does it feel dry or crispy, and it even removes like a dream. I’m a complete convert, and literally all of my friends have heard about the wonders of this stuff! I may have bought a second tube already!

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara is priced at £7.99 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
