The Perfume Society: The Scent of a Man Discovery Box*

The Perfume Society Father's Day Box

I absolutely love receiving beauty boxes every month, they always come as something of a surprise, and it’s just so fun to dig through them finding new brands and new favourites.

The Perfume Society Father's Day Box 1

The Perfume Society’s brand new The Scent of a Man Discovery Box is the first one designed especially for the boys, and I have to say, it’s a good one! Packaged in a greyscale version of the brand’s signature boxes is a selection of fine fragrance samples as well as a few rather generous treats.

The Perfume Society Father's Day Box 2

Like all of the Perfume Society’s Discovery Boxes, there’s a perfect mix of well known brands as well as some indie brands. It means that you’re pretty much guaranteed to find a few new favourites in the bunch.

In addition to 13 fragrances to try out, there are also some rather luxe products in there too! I’m not going to lie – I’ve stolen the travel sized Elemis Ice-Cool Foaming Shave Gel as it’s super refreshing to use, and the minty scent feels wonderfully clean without being overpowering. There’s also a Penhaligon Face and Beard Scrub as well as an Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream for Men. I’ve tried out the female version of the moisturiser before and really liked it, so I’m sure that one’s a winner too!

The Scent of a Man Discovery Box is such a great little gift, I’m sure any father would love it! It’s priced at £19.00 and is available here.

Glossybox UK March 2016*

I’m not sure about you, but the increasingly good weather has me rather excited for spring and summer to finally arrive. Thankfully Glossybox seem to agree, as their latest box is all about getting your glow on. A nicely balanced mix of skincare, makeup and tools, if you’re not already subscribed, I’m sure you won’t be able to resist!

DSC_0352

First up is a shampoo and conditioner duo from -417 Catharsis Vitamin Mineral range. It’s a brand I’ve never heard of before, so getting to try out both the shampoo and conditioner is a real treat! I love the glamorous packaging, and the duo promises to draw out impurities from the scalp, as well as be packed full of vitamins thanks to the Dead Sea Mud in the formula. I can’t wait to try these out this weekend!

The dinkiest member of this month’s box is the little tube of Olay’s Skin Tone Perfecting Cream. Considering I like to wear as little makeup as possible in good weather, this is a little gem of a cream which promises to even out skin, improve skin tone and give some much needed glow.

DSC_0385

The tube of Hey Honey Honey Silk Facial Serum is the perfect size for slipping into my everyday makeup bag, meaning my skin can already feel the benefit of it. The formula contains an absolute tonne of great-for-skin ingredients like honey, silk amino acid, sea buckthorn oil and vitamin e, and it’s a super easy way to inject a little extra moisture into your skincare routine.

Possibly my favourite part of this month’s box is the Luxie 504 Large Angled face brush. Before I even got to try it out, I fell in love the the pretty pink handle and rose gold accents, but I’m pleased to say that it’s a really great brush.

DSC_0363

Larger than my regular angled face brush, Luxie’s offering is a real multitasker! If you’re after an easy way to sculpt cheekbones with some subtle contouring, this really does the job! Not only that, but I’ve been using it to apply my highlighter every morning (recently it’s been this one). The larger head means that it diffuses powder evenly, leaving a sheer glow behind.

Last but not least is the adorable little Speedy Highlighter from Collection. Looking awfully like a dupe for Clinique’s Chubby Stick Highligher. The light pink colour also kind of reminds me of Benefit’s High Beam. Since it is so light, I don’t think that darker skinned girls will get much use out of it, but it’s such a pretty colour. The formula deposits a gentle gleam quickly and easily, and I’ve been swiping it over my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and my cupids bow for a little extra sheen. In very bight light, it does tend to glitter a little, so I’m keeping mine for evening use.

This month is such a great little box of real work-horse products which I can really see myself reaching for. If you want to subscribe to Glossybox, you can do it here.

Bobbi Brown Face Mask Collection*

DSC_0226

Bobbi Brown might be a brand that’s best known for creating beautiful makeup which makes you look like yourself on your best day, but what you might not know is, they also have a rather impressive skincare line which creates the perfect canvas for their beauty looks!

DSC_0212

Including everything from cleansers, toners and moisturizers to perfumes, the newest additions to the line up is this trio of face masks which promise to detox, nourish and boost skin’s radiance. The fact that you can pick and choose the masks best suited to your skin type is so handy, and if you want to treat yourself to all three (and you will) you can really focus the masks on your problem areas. Rather handily, to let you see what works best for you, the trio is available in dinky sample sizes for a rather affordable £10!

DSC_0234

The Instant Detox Mask is a complete must-have if you have oily or congested skin. I’ve been adding this to my Sunday at-home spa evenings to really clear out my skin before the week begins, and I’m rather fond of it!

DSC_0236

With a formula rich in minerals, it’s far more than your average clay face mask. Instead, ingredients like  to ensure Hawaiian Sea Water and Amazonian White Clay, fuse together to help extract dirt and oil from pores, whilst the Sea Salt cleanses, nourishes and balances skin, without leaving it feeling stripped or dry.

DSC_0244

The Radiance Boost mask is basically all of my exfoliation dreams combined into one chic little white tube. Unlike the much maligned microbeads which have just been outlawed in the US, this mask uses superfine walnut grains to slough away dead skin.

DSC_0251

With the grains held in a super-nourishing Algae-infused formula, the mask really gets rid of any winter dryness, leaving skin feeling soft and radiant. I’ve been using the mask around twice a week, and am loving the results!

DSC_0265

Last up is the Skin Nourish Mask which is packaged in the most beautiful pink tube. I’ve been using this mask at night instead of my regular pm moisturizer, and I’ve been seriously bowled over by the results. Unlike the other two masks, Skin Nourish is all about treating and hydrating skin. The lightweight formula sinks easily into skin, with ingredients such as Coral Grass, Hydro Herb and Salicornia which lock in and regulate moisture levels, as well as plumping, smoothing and nourishing the complexion. It’s the perfect choice if you feel like your constantly getting dry skin from things like central heating and being outside in the cold!

The full sized masks are currently available exclusively here

Gift Guide: Nuxe Cracker*

Nuxe Cracker

Without resorting into carols, it’s beginning to look an awful a lot like Christmas, and I’m rather happy about it. Who wouldn’t be when an absolute gift like Nuxe’s adorable cracker popped through the door?!

Nuxe Cracker contents

So it might not have a bad joke or a crown, but the cracked is stuffed full with four of Nuxe’s best loved products:

  • Eau Démaquillante Micellaire Micellar Cleansing Water Mini 35ml
  • Crème Prodigieuse Anti-Fatigue Moisturizing Cream Mini 15ml
  • Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil Mini 10ml
  • Reve de Miel Creme Mains et Ongles Hand and Nail Cream Mini 15ml

It’s a perfect way to treat a beauty-mad loved one, or, of course, yourself!

Nuxe cracker rose micellaire water

I’ve loved the Eau Démaquillante Micellaire Micellar Cleansing Water for a good few years as it’s an amazing, yet still gentle cleansing Micellar water. After cleansing with either a balm or foaming cleanser, I soak a cotton pad in the formula then gently sweep over my skin. It feels so calming to use, and it doesn’t dry out or irritate my sensitive skin.

Nuxe Cracker reve de miel hand and nail cream

Since my hands are consistently dry and in need of some loving at this time of year, no matter how hard I try, I was so glad to get a tube of the Reve de Miel Creme Mains et Ongles Hand and Nail Cream. It’s a lovely rich, quite heavily scented cream which feels super nourishing to use. This has been popped into my handbag for much needed use throughout the day.

Nuxe Cracker Creme Prodigieuse

Another of Nuxe’s products I’ve relied on for a while is the Crème Prodigieuse Anti-Fatigue Moisturizing Cream. It’s a great choice on days where I feel my skin is a little oiler than normal, as it has a mattifying effect which leaves skin looking soft and glowy without heading into the shiny territory.

Nuxe Cracker huile prodigieuse

Last up is probably Nuxe’s best known and loved products – their Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil. It’s a multi-use product which delivers a blast of moisture to face, body and even hair! I love the dry texture of the oil, as it sinks into skin super quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.

The cracker is such a great way to fall in love with some of Nuxe’s best products, and I can’t imagine anyone who would love waking up to one of these on Christmas morning!

Nuxe Christmas Cracker is priced at £10.00 and is available here

Chloe – My Little Chloe*

My Little Chloe

When I got the chance to sample Chloe’s new range of My Little Chloe perfumes, I think the one I was most excited about was the original Chloe scent. If you’ve been anywhere near the internet, you’ve probably read how popular the perfume is, and how it’s a number of people’s holy grail fragrance. To say I was intrigued was an understatement!

My Little Chloe 1

The premise of My Little Chloe, is that it is a miniature, 20ml version of the original scent, packaged in the most darling of teeny glass bottles, complete with hand tied ribbon. The Chloe scent is finished with a blush bow, and I think I fell for it before I even got a sniff!

My Little Chloe 3

Chloe described their eponymous scent as luxurious and feminine, and I would have to agree! When I first apply the perfume, I get a whoosh of florals – the top notes of freesia and peony make it feel incredibly pretty and special to wear. Then, as the scent matures, it deepens a little thanks to the magnolia and rose heart notes. The very base notes of amber and cedarwood never become overpowering, but instead really warm the fragrance up as the day goes on.

My Little Chloe 2

The lasting power of Chloe is really impressive – I’ve been using a few squirts in the morning, and it has been more than enough to last through the day. It’s one of the rare fragrances I’ve tried, that when I wake up in the morning, I can still smell it in my hair! It’s a great choice if you like a fragrance to carry you from day to night too!

The My Little Chloe bottles are a perfect choice, if, like me, you want to be able to freshen up as the day goes on. Their dinky size means I have been popping them into my makeup bag, and they fit into the sleekest of clutches. They are also something of a conversation starter! I can’t tell you the number of people who have commented on how adorable the bottles are, and they are usually already Chloe fans!

Chloe My Little Chloe is priced at £35.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
