Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue Fair/Light*

perfect-me-perfect-hue-eye-cheek-palette-fairlight-palette-caseDo you know when you see something and just know it’s going to be great? It’s the best feeling, and one that doesn’t happen too regularly. So, when Stila’s Perfect Me Perfect Hue palette appeared a few weeks back, I got rather excited.

I fell in love with the packaging first, and it would be hard not to! The compact is sizeable enough to hold five good sized shadows and two blushes comfortably, and it’s a stunning brushed gold. The lid is also covered in a self-coloured leopard print which is just adorable!

The Perfect Me Perfect You palettes are available in three colour ways – Fair/Light, Medium/Tan and Tan/Deep. I was sent the lightest option, and for my colouring, it’s perfection.

Fair/Light is the most perfect mix of cool, blue toned pink, and slightly warmer peaches. If you’re looking for a palette that’s going to leave you looking natural and groomed – this is the compact for you!

The Perfect Me Perfect Hue palette is a real lifesaver in the mornings! It takes the guesswork out of makeup, and I love the fact that each product serves a purpose (which Stila have helpfully included on the base of the compact).

Working from the top, I cover my entire lid, all the way to my brow bone in the base (top left) using a fluffy brush. Then, I buff the highlighting shade (top centre) into my brow bone and in the inner corner of my eyes. It’s seriously brightening, and it eradicated the damage done by late nights! I then buff in the taupe (top right) into my crease, making sure that there are no harsh lines. Then the fun begins! Using my ring finger, I then pat the centre glitter shade onto my lids. I’m obsessed with the texture of the shadows. They’re all buttery smooth, with wonderful colour payoff, and they are perfectly bendable. To finish my eyes, using an angled brush, I smudge the deep chocolate brown into my lash line, making sure it’s not too harsh a line.

Then, once I’ve applied my bronzer, I swirl a little of the peachy blush from my cheek bones up to my temples, then add a little pop of the blue pink blush to the apples of my cheeks. The formulas of both are just dreamy and add a believable glow (which is very necessary on these dark mornings!) which lasts all day. I’m so glad that I’ve discovered this little gem – I’m currently contemplating which bits and bobs to take with me on a few trips I have lined up, and I know this one is coming with me!

Stila’s Perfect Me Perfect Hue Palette is priced at £28 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Maybelline Baby Lips Glosses*

Maybelline Baby Lips Glosses

I’m not sure about you, but by the time it gets around to being a Friday, I’m always in the mood to treat myself. I usually find myself wandering around SpaceNK or Harvey Nichols, desperate to find something that’s not too expensive but is still a nice little find. Now though, Boots has been my port of call, as I have fallen completely in love with Maybelline’s new Baby Lips lip glosses – the proof? I may have bought myself three new colours since these two popped through the door!

Maybelline Baby Lips Gloss - A Wink of pink gloss

The packaging for glosses is pretty standard – the white cap is emblazoned with the Maybelline Baby Lips logo, and the gloss itself is in a clear tube which means selecting a colour from my makeup bag couldn’t be easier. Wink of Pink is a stunning, warm toned pink gloss which is shot through with golden shimmer. On the lips, the gloss feels surprising rich and balmy (these aren’t in any way sticky) and they give a sheer hint of shimmer with a flattering sheen of gloss. As you might imagine, since the glosses are part of the Baby Lips collection, they promise to moisturize, which, now we’re in the middle of summer, is much needed!

The formula of the gloss really feels surprisingly luxe. Everything from the doe foot applicator to the fruity scent feels well thought out, and I’ve been reaching for them more regularly than my normal Chanel or Dior choices. The wear-time might not be hours long, but the glosses are so cute and affordable, I don’t really mind topping them up!

Maybelline Baby Lips Gloss - Fab & Fuchsia

Possibly my most reached-for shade this week has been Fab and Fuchsia. In the tube it looks like a neon-Barbie dream of a gloss, but it’s far more subtle on the lips. It just gives a super sheer wash of shine with a subtle pink tint. Again, it has the brand’s signature fruity sweet scent, but I kind of love it, and the non-sticky formula is just so comfortable to wear, I’ve actually picked myself up a backup!

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Glosses are priced at £4.99 each and are available here.

Burberry Full Kisses – Blush Nude*

Burberry Full Kisses

So for me, there’s nothing quite like a nude lip. It’s definitely my comfort zone, but on Monday mornings, the possibility of me picking a more daring colour are definitely about zero. But don’t get me wrong, choosing the perfect shade of nude is a serious task – I want something that will give my face a bit of colour, keep me looking polished but not look too try hard.

Burberry Full Kisses review

I’ve already talked about how much I love the formula of Burberry’s new Full Kisses formula here, but if you’ve never tried them before, you’re really missing out. First off, the packaging is all sorts of chic. The sleek gunmetal grey tube is etched with a subtle Burberry check, and it slots nicely into my makeup bag. The formulas are just as dreamy. They feel rich and moisturising on the lips, but not too heavy or sticky. They just glide on, and stay there for a good four hours or so.

I’m just obsessed with the chi sled shape of the lipstick bullet. It makes applying it on-the-go so easy, and you don’t need to have to faff around with a lip brush. Blush Nude is a beautiful my-lips-but-better shade, that’s just perfect if you’re looking for something that’s both low key but chic. It’s the perfect pairing to a dramatic smoky eye, but I’ve been wearing it to complement my more subtle everyday looks.

Burberry Full Kisses in Nude Blush is priced at £24.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine- 41*

YSL Rouge Volupte 41

So if you’ve read any of my recent posts (and really, you should, I’ve been featuring some really rather awesome products!),  you’ll have noticed that I’ve been banging on about the better weather. For the past few weeks, the UK has been bathed in the most gorgeous of springtime sunlight, and I’ve been loving all the blossom in the air and golden evenings.

So, in something of a celebration, I’ve been brightening up my makeup a little. My routine usually consists of a pinky-nude lip shade that I’m sure would be boring to many, but I felt it was only right to opt for something a bit juicier looking. So, I plumped for one of YSL’s rather iconic Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks in the shade 41. It’s a really stunning warm toned coral shade which can, in the right light verge on pink.

YSL Rouge Volupte 41 3

It’s such a great choice if you’re looking for a summer lip colour, as it’s both incredibly pretty as well as ridiculously easy to wear. I’ve been applying mine straight from the bullet, and I’m just in love with YSL’s Rouge Volupte’s formula. If you’ve never tried it before, you’re really missing out! Rather than many lipsticks which have heavy, creamy formulas, YSL’s feels incredibly light and nourishing. They apply almost like a balm, and leave lips with a light glossy veil of colour.

YSL Rouge Volupte 41 1

I’ve already amassed quite the collection of Rouge Voluptes as the formulas are just so dreamy! Infused with oil, lips stay hydrated throughout the day, meaning that they are just the perfect choice for throughout the summer, and there is such a wonderful choice of colours too! So, if you’re looking for a new way to way a pink lip right now, definitely give number 41 a go, and let me know what you think!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine 41 is priced at £26.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Clinique Pop Lacquer – Wink Pop

Clinique Pop Lacquer - Wink Pop

Happy Friday everyone! I’m not sure about you, but I’ve had a super busy and quick week and I can’t quite believe we’re almost hitting the weekend. A product I’ve been really loving this whole week was something of an impulse purchase when I cut through Boots a few weeks ago – Clinique’s Pop Lacquer in Wink Pop.

Clinique Pop Lacquer - Wink Pop 1

The Pop Lacquer is a new release from the brand, and it promises to be both a primer and a lip colour. Since I don’t tend to use a primer on my lips, the promise of long wearing lip colour was seriously tempting, and I just love the rosy pink shade of Wink Pop.

Clinique Pop Lacquer - Wink Pop 2

Packaged in a dinky little tube, Wink Pop is a really beautiful, warm toned light pink which is just perfect if you’re looking for a low maintenance way to stay feeling polished. I absolutely love the large applicator that the Pop Lacquer comes with, it means application is so quick and tidy! I’ve been swiping a little of the formula on before leaving the house each morning, and it’s still there after an hour commute and trip to Starbies. I’ve not found it to last the full six hours promised by Clinique, but it certainly doesn’t just disappear like most glosses. Even when the gloss part of the Lacquer fades, lips are left beautifully stained and feeling hydrated.

Clinique Pop Lacquer is priced at £16.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US).
