Atkinsons 1799 Scilly Neroli*

When you first hear about a perfume house that was founded 217 years, it doesn’t really seem like the place to find your summer scent. But I have to say, I’ve only recently been introduced to Atkinsons 1799, and to say I’ve fallen in love is something of an understatement.

Their new Scilly Neroli eau de parfum was the first scent I was introduced to, and I’ve hardly worn anything else since it arrived. Packaged in a rather luxurious cardboard drawer, the whole box feels more like something to hold fine jewellery rather than perfume.

Inside is an absolute jewel of a bottle – the bottles are a hefty 100ml, complete with shining label and etched cap. The whole thing just feels wonderfully glamorous and grown up, and I feel like the packaging really adds a little magic to the scent.

As if the packaging wasn’t jaw-dropping enough, the scent is incredible too! Scilly Neroli is part of the brand’s Contemporary Collection, which includes seven different perfumes which have been designed to be modern takes on ingredients which are emblematic of Atkinsons 1799. I think it’s such a fun idea, as I just love the idea of an updated classic (also, I’m something of a history nerd, so the idea of wearing a perfume similar to something someone had during the Napoleonic Wars kind of gives me a kick).

The perfume itself just feels like summertime in a bottle. It’s described by the brand as ‘sea drenched’ and ‘sunlit’, and I have to say, I absolutely agree! When you first apply Scilly Neroli, there are serious citrus notes, coupled with petitgrain and a touch of salt. It’s such fresh, clean scent which straddles the lines of unisex. Honestly, this would smell as incredible on a guy as it does on me.

Then, as the parfum warms on the skin, it almost deepens into a more cologne-esque scent. The Neroli essence and orange blossom give a slight orange slant, which feels so clean and soapy – it feels so fresh to wear, and I just love the slightly fruity edge of the orange. It smells delicious, and it’s such a gorgeous, wearable scent, that it’s really tempted me into trying out more from the brand.

Atkinsons 1799 Scilly Neroli is priced at £120.00 and is available (I think exclusively) here.

Monu Spa Rejuvenating Candle*

Monu Spa Rejuvenating Spa Candle

I have to admit to being something of a candle-hoarder. I’ve got a box of them tucked away at the back of my closet, and I just work my way through them. Something I’ve never tried though, despite my rather numerous collection is a Massage Candle, so when this little Monu beauty appeared, I was rather intrigued!

Monu Spa Rejuvenating Spa Candle 1

Packaged in a handy little tin, all you have to do is light the candle like normal, then wait 10-15 minutes as the wax melts into a gloriously rich massage oil. Once you have enough, you just blow out the flame, and carefully pour into your hands, or onto the area you want to massage. I love how simple yet effective the premise is, and since the oil has been freshly melted, it’s wonderfully warm, which makes your massage feel perfectly spa like (and your muscles will thank you!).

Monu Spa Rejuvenating Spa Candle 3

I received the Rejuvenating fragrance which is a glorious blend of jasmine and yang-ylang. I love the subtle scent which intensifies with the heat of the flame, and one enough oil has melted, not only do I have a perfect massage oil, but the whole room smells heavenly too!

Monu Spa Rejuvenating Spa Candle 2

As if the scent wasn’t glorious enough, Monu have enriched the formula with Vitamin E, which makes it perfect if you’re giving yourself an at-home mani or pedi. One little trick I like to do, is give myself something of a cheat’s paraffin manicure. Once enough oil has melted, I blow out the flame then dip my fingertips into the oil. Then I work the oil into my cuticles, dip them back in then sit back and let the formula harden slightly. The heat really works the oil deep into my skin, and I can just flake off whatever is excess. My hands always feel so soft after doing it!

Monu Spa Rejuvenating Candles are priced at £5.00 and are available here

DKNY Be Desired Eau de Parfum*

,DKNY Be Desired 1

So this weekend saw me undertake one of my favourite chores – picking apples from our little orchard at the bottom of the garden, so I thought it would be the perfect excuse to try out one of my newest Eau de Parfums – DKNY’s Be Desired. I’ve been a big fan of DKNY’s Be Delicious scents for years – I bought the first one when I was away on a school trip many moons ago, and I think I’ve kept a bottle handy ever since!

DKNY Be Desired

DKNY’s Be Desired scent comes packaged in one of the brand’s signature apple shaped bottles, and it is such a pretty fragrance to wear! When first applied, the top notes are a sparkling mix of fruity notes – blackcurrant, iced grapefruit and orange which feel so fresh and flirty. As the scent warms up, the heart notes of rose and jasmine become stronger, giving the scent a wonderful grownup, floral edge. It’s these beautiful, almost soapy notes which cut through the sharpness of the fruit and create a scent which feels really unusual. The base notes include amber and cedar wood which give the fragrance a beautiful warmth, and longevity which most other fruity fragrances lack. It’s a such a beautifully balanced fragrance, you really must check it out!

DKNY Be Desired is priced at £69 for 100ml (pictured) and you can find it here (UK) and here (US)

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Forever*

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream 1

So I don’t think that it’s a stretch to say that Marc Jacobs creates possibly the most lust-worthy bottles of perfume. From his Daisy debut in 2007, the packaging alone has made his perfumes dressing table must-haves. The newest release from the Daisy stable of fragrances is Daisy Dream Forever, a new take on last year’s Daisy Dream which mixes fruits and blonde woods into a fragrance which is pretty much magical.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream 2

As you can probably tell, I’m more than a little enamoured with the packaging for Daisy Dream Forever. It’s a joy to look at and a joy to use, and I just love how iconic Marc Jacobs’ packaging has become in a rather saturated fragrance market. The bottle is adorned with blue rubber daisies, and it’s just so pretty. It really does make me want to reach for the perfume every morning

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream 3

Although the name ‘Daisy Dream Forever’ might sound like it’s prime for Spring and Summer, it’s been released at the most perfect time, as it’s a real transition scent. The mix of fruity and light woody notes creates a fragrance which is just perfect if you’re looking for something a little richer than your summer go-to. Happily, it’s one of those fragrances which everyone wants to know what you’re wearing!

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream 4

At first spray, the juicy top notes of Pear, Blackberry and Grapefruit create a gorgeously juicy first impression. It smells almost edible at first, and then, as the scent matures, the heart notes of Jasmine, Lychee, Blue Wisteria become more noticeable. This mix of florals give the perfume a really great clean, almost aquatic feel, which is super refreshing to wear. At the base, there are notes of White Wood, Musk, and Coconut Water. It’s this base which really deepens Daisy Dream Forever, really setting it apart from it’s predecessors.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream

The perfume skews slightly sweet, but it’s really easy to wear, and the Musks and White Woods really keeps it feeling grown up and sophisticated. The fact that it’s an Eau de Parfum is also great for the longevity of the perfume – I’ve been applying it every morning, and I can still catch whiffs of it well into the afternoon. I love giving myself a little top-up mid-afternoon though, it’s such a pretty, refreshing scent that really perks me up, and keeps me going well into the evening

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Forever Eau de Parfum is priced at £59.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Ghost Girl Eau de Toilette*

Ghost Girl Eau de Toilette

When I caught a glimpse of Ghost’s brand new fragrance Ghost Girl, I couldn’t resist getting my hands on it. From the graffiti clad bottle to the awesome adverts featuring the way too cool Charlotte Free, Ghost Girl is just too pretty to miss!

Ghost Girl Eau de Toilette 2

Ghost describes the perfume as ‘fearless and fun loving’ and it’s a great choice if you’re in the mood to mix up your everyday perfume!

Ghost Girl Eau de Toilette 1

When first applied, Ghost Girl feels super pretty and flirty to wear. The top notes of pomegranate, pear and orange blossom feel  super fresh and clean. It’s a morning wakeup call in a bottle! As the fragrance warms up a little, the heart notes of cedar wood and amber become more apparent, making the scent feels surprisingly grown up! The longevity of Ghost Girl is really great – after a quick mist in the morning, I can still catch notes of orange blossom and amber by the end of the day.

Ghost Girl Eau de Toilette 3

It’s an incredibly pretty and fun scent to wear, and so many people have asked me what I’m wearing when I have it on!

Ghost Girl Eau de Toilette is priced from £25.00 for 30ml and is available here
