Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains*

Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains 2

It feels like the sun has been shining for weeks, and I have to say, I’m absolutely loving it. Evenings have been spent outside, soaking up the warmth with friends, planning our summer adventures. What I’ve also been doing, is upping my skincare routine. I’m a big fan of exfoliating at the best of times, but the sunshine coupled with finally getting to wear summer clothes (as well as a little faux tan) means that I’ve rather upped my game!

So, when Aromatherapy Associates sent over their Natural Exfoliating Grains, I couldn’t have been happier! Talk about perfect timing! I’ve become more than a little obsessed with the tube, as it’s like no other scrub I have in my arsenal, because it’s completely customisable.

Unlike every other scrub in my collection, Aromatherapy Associates’ Natural Exfoliating Grains consists entirely of olive pit granules. It’s completely natural, and so great for your skin (and the environment). Rather than the plastic balls some scrubs use, these won’t build up in drains and cause distress to marine life, and unlike sugar which can sometimes be a little harsh on skin, these feel gentler as they’re so finely ground.

It couldn’t be simpler to use the Exfoliating Grains, just pick your body wash of choice, squirt a little into your hand, then pour some of the grains, mix then you’re good to go. If your skin is feeling particularly sensitised, or if you use the grains daily, you only need a little, or, you can increase the amount if you’re in need of a bit of a scrub down. I just love how easy they are to use, and the fact that they turn my favourite shower gel into a scrub too! I’ve been using mine with an Aromatherapy Associates one (see here) and it’s such a great way to end the day!

Aromatherapy Associates Natural Exfoliating Grains are priced at £20 and are available here (UK) and here (US)

Molton Brown Alba White Truffle Hand Exfoliate & Hand Treatment*

Molton Brown Alba White Truffle Hand Exfoliator & Hand Treatment

Now we’re squarely into December, and the temperature has taken a rather seasonal downward turn, I’m all about hiding indoors and giving myself a bit of a pamper. So, these brand new goodies from Molton Brown couldn’t have arrived at a better time!

Molton Brown White Truffle Hand Exfoliator & Hand Treatmen 1

Packaged in some seriously slick silver tubes, the Alba White Truffle duo are designed to really treat and soothe winter-ravaged hands, and they could feel more luxurious to use! They really are a must-have if you like a do-it-yourself manicure!

Molton Brown White Truffle Hand Exfoliator

Once or twice per week, and before painting my nails, I’ve been using the Hand Exfoliator. It’s a super thick scrub which smells absolutely incredible! The formula contains a rare Alba truffle extract to soften skin, and since it has such a rich texture, you only need to use the tiniest amount per application.

The duo has to be one of the best smelling products I’ve tried all year! The fragrance contains a blend of myrrh, nutmeg and vanilla, and it’s ridiculously yummy. It’s the perfect gourmand scent, and I really can’t get enough of the stuff! I wash off the exfoliator using warm water and a clean flannel, and my hands are so, so smooth. If, like me, you suffer from cuticles which peel and hands that need a little pampering, you have to try it!

Molton Brown White Truffle Hand Treatment 1

After giving my hands a good slough, I’ve been slathering them in the delicious Alba White Truffle Hand Treatment. It’s one of the thickest and most luxurious hand creams I’ve tried, and it’s absolutely glorious!

Despite the incredibly thick consistency, the Hand Treatment really soaks into skin quite quickly, and it leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated rather than sticky. Again, the scent of the cream is divine – heavily vanilla-based, but in no way too sweet or cloying. It’s a beautifully festive option! Using the duo feels like such a treat, and my hands are really showing the benefit of using them!

Molton Brown Alba White Truffle Hand Exfoliator is priced at £14.00 and is available here. The Alba White Truffle Hand Treatment is priced at £14.00 and is available here

Gazelli Skincare White Oil Illuminating Perfecting Skin Polish*

Gazelli Triple Youth White Oil Illuminating Perfecting SKin Polish

After last week’s run-in with a rather too vigorous exfoliation treatment which left me looking red, raw, and rather sorry for myself, I’ve been really babying my skin. Nourishing cleansing balms and lashings of coconut oil have been precisely what my skin needed, but now that everything is back to normal, I’ve been itching to give myself a good scrub! I just think there is nothing fresher looking than skin that’s had a great exfoliation treatment.

Gazelli Triple Youth White Oil Illuminating Perfecting SKin Polish 1

Gazelli Skincare White Oil Illuminating Perfecting Skin Polish might just be one of my favourite exfoliators I’ve tried. The texture is perfect – a rich, almost lotion which is filled with an even grit that feels stimulating rather than too rough. I tend to use the Illuminating Perfecting Skin Polish about twice a week, usually after cleansing and it leaves skin feeling incredibly soft. It makes any dry skin completely vanish, and it’s a great choice if you’re looking to fade acne scarring. Gazelli Skincare also recommend that the Skin Polish can be used on gads for a gentle exfoliation treatment, so the next time I’m doing my nails, I’m definitely going to start with a dose of the polish!

Gazelli Skincare White Oil Illuminating Perfecting Skin Polish is priced at £35.00 and is available here.

Dirty Works Body Scrubs*

Dirty Works Body Scrub

Since the weather is on a serious uptick, I think that summer might really be on it’s way after all! I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s been hiding in sweaters and leggings all winter! So, in an effort to get my skin looking a bit more summer-ready, I’ve been turning to Dirty Works’ duo of Body Scrub and Buttery Body Scrub which are perfect if you’re looking for an affordable way to get super soft skin!

Dirty Works Body Scrub 1

I tend to reach for the Body Scrub for my arms and chest area, since it has quite a light consistency, it’s perfect for daily shower use. The formula feels lovely to use as it really gets rid of dry and scaly skin on problem areas like my elbows, but it doesn’t feel too harsh on delicate areas like my chest. It has a sweet, almost candy like scent which is a nice change from my normally quite fresh and unisex morning shower gels.

Dirty Works Buttery Body Scrub

For areas like my legs, thighs, feet and hands, I turn to Dirty Works’ Buttery Salt Scrub. This has a much thicker, almost paste-like consistency which is perfect for a more intense exfoliation. For larger areas like my legs I need a few finger-fulls which I work into damp skin then shower off. If I’m giving myself a bit of an at-home manicure, I like to take a little of the scrub and really work it into my hands and cuticles. It makes my dry skin disappear, and it feels super luxurious! After using both scrubs I like to slather a good amount of a really nourishing moisturiser on to really hydrate my skin and keep it looking glowy for as long as possible!

Possibly the best thing about Dirty Works is how affordable it is! The Body Scrub is priced at £3.00 and the Buttery Salt Scrub is £4.00 and both are available from Sainsburys.

Gordon Castle Herb Garden Salt Scrub*

Gordon Castle Herb Garden Sea Salt Scrub

I’m not sure if it’s because I majored in Art History at university, or if it’s because I’m a bit of a history geek, but I got awfully excited when I heard Gordon Castle were launching a luxury beauty line.

Gordon Castle Herb Garden Sea Salt Scrub 2

Gordon Castle is located up in the north of Scotland, and dates back to the 1470s. It’s an absolutely gorgeous property, and in the past few years, the walled gardens have been restored and opened to the public. It’s one of the oldest walled gardens in Scotland, and is filled with rare plants and trees.

Gordon Castle Herb Garden Sea Salt Scrub 1

What sets Gordon Castle’s beauty line apart, is that it contains herbal extracts grown in the walled garden. I just love how special that makes the products! The scrub itself is absolutely heavenly – it’s an extremely thick and luxurious balm, and it feels like a high-end spa treatment in a pot!

Gordon Castle Herb Garden Sea Salt Scrub 3

I’ve been using the scrub once or twice a week, and I find it works best if I massage it into slightly dampened skin. The salt in the formula feels lovely and invigorating to use, and when the formula heats up, notes of mint and rosemary appear, and it feels so decadent to massage the little cranberry into my skin. After using, my arms and legs feel super soft, and I can definitely see and feel the difference when I apply moisturiser. I’ve also been using it on my hands when I give myself a bit of an at-home manicure. Prior to snipping my cuticles, I give my hands a good scrub then apply lashings of moisturiser. The end result looks almost professional!

Gordon Castle’s Herb Garden Sea Salt Scrub costs £24.00 and is available here.
