Windle & Moodie Shine and Smoothing Oil*

DSC_0934

I’m not sure that there is anything quite as lovely has having a head full of soft and shiny hair, especially in the summer when you want your beauty routine to be as minimal as possible. But, when you’re blonde, and when you batter your hair about as much as I do, it can be hard to keep it shiny and healthy.

DSC_0947

Just as an example, in the past fortnight, my entire head has been bleached twice, toned three times and I have to blow dry and straighten my hair daily. Not exactly ideal, so, in efforts to appease my hair sins, I’ve been adding as much nourishment into my routine as possible. Just out of the shower, after spraying on a little protective spray, I smooth a couple of pumps of this through the ends, and then get to grips with my Tangle Teezer. It disappears into my hair, and even when it’s wet, it feels far smoother than before.

Then, after blow drying with a round brush, I smooth a pump of the Shine and Smoothing Oil through the ends before I tackle them with the straighteners. The oil just disappears into my stressed ends, softening the look of split ends and adding a wonderful sheen to the lengths which lasts all day long!

Windle & Moodie Shine and Smoothing Oil is priced at £21 and is available here

Rodial Dragon’s Blood XXL Advanced Sculpting Serum*

DSC_0038

I always think that Rodial is one of those brands that just makes you feel special. From their awesome names to products which work insanely well, they always produce the most special of products. The new Dragon’s Blood XXL Advanced Sculpting Serum is no different.

DSC_0044

The name is taken from a  Croton Lechleri tree, known locally as the Dragon Blood tree, which is historically used for medicinal and healing purposes. The formula mixes all this goodness with hyaluronic acid, wheat proteins, hema’tite, tetrapeptide-6 and red snow algae which all work together to taught skin, hydrate it, and leaving it looking beautifully glowy.

Like all Rodial products I’ve tried, the ingredients are potent, so you only need the teeniest squeeze of the serum every morning. I’ve been applying it to freshly cleansed skin prior to my moisturiser, and my skin has really been feeling the benefits. I absolutely love the lightweight feel of the serum, and it just disappears into the skin without leaving it feeling tacky or oil. Instead, my skin feels like it’s been given an extra dose of nutrition and moisture, and my makeup just seems to glide on, on top of it.Using the Dragon’s Blood XXL Advanced Serum just feels like having a super-good skin day. It’s amazing for perking up tired eyes right up, and it makes skin look so fresh and youthful.

Will you be trying Rodial’s Dragon’s Blood XXL Advanced Serum?

It’s priced at £125.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Glossybox January 2016*

DSC_0753

Each month, I get rather excited when the postman delivers my Glossybox. From the pretty pink boxes they come in, to the new brands they let me sample, each month is filled with lovely surprises (and who doesn’t like some new cosmetics each month? I also am loving the fact that Glossybox seem to be featuring a tonne of full sized items – there isn’t a single dinky tester this month, so it’s serious value for money!

DSC_0762

I feel like January’s box is pretty skincare-heavy, but since I’m sure that 99% of people have some sort of resolution to take better care of themselves, I can completely understand why. Unani’s a brand that I’ve never come across before. From my online digging, I’ve found out that it’s a Spanish family company which specialize in natural and organic ingredients. The Dermo Defense Face Mask has a light, gel-like texture which feels super calming and nourishing to apply. I’ve been popping it on after cleansing every couple of nights, as it’s designed to nourish sensitive skin whilst removing impurities.

Another new-to-me brand is Madara, whose Cellular Repair Serum is included in this month’s box. I’ve not tried this one out yet (as I’m currently road testing another serum) but it’s designed to be anti-aging, which is always a good thing!

DSC_0766

This rather eye-catching gem is a Teez lipstick in Oasis Gem. It’s a full sized product, and is a perfect little pick-me-up if you’re looking for something a little brighter in all this wintry weather.

DSC_0769

Oasis Gem is a bright pink-toned coral which should flatter most skintones, and it’s a lovely change from my regular pinky-nude choices. Mine looks a little battered as the lipstick itself fell out of the tube when I twisted it up, but it’s fine to use as long as I’m gentle with it. It has a super smooth texture thanks to the coconut oil in the formula, which is perfect for winter-parched lips.

Naobay’s Orange Juice Hand Cream is next up, and it’s a lovely full sized tube of juicy goodness! I can’t get enough handcream at the moment – I’m desperately trying to have nice looking hands and nails, but my addiction to hand sanitizer as well as the cold weather has my digits looking less than perfect. The cream has a lovely light orange fragrance which smells perfectly fresh and fruity without feeling overpowering, and the formula is packed with Shea Butter, Chamomile, and Aloe Vera extracts to soothe and heal skin.

Last up is the very generously sized Glossybox eyeshadow in Mauve. It’s a full sized product, and it feels huge compared to my shadows from brands like MAC. It’s a stunning cool toned mauve which is easy to wear and really flatters my hazel eyes. For day I’ve been using the shadow dry, but you can use the shadow with a damp brush to achieve a more dramatic look.

Glossybox has certainly started the year strong – I absolutely loved the mix of skincare and makeup, and it’s nice nice to have some fresh products to add to my collection for 2016! Will you be subscribing?

July 2015 Glossybox*

Glossybox UK July 2015

This month’s Glossybox might just be the prettiest yet! From the gloriously illustrated box to the rather chic goodies tucked inside, Glossybox have completely hit it out of the box!

Glossybox UK July 2015 2

With gorgeous cartoons courtesy of fashion illustrator Jamie Lee Rardin, this month’s box focuses mainly on some great French skincare, with a great little lip balm popped in too!

Glossybox UK July 2015 4

I’ve never come across the brand Teoxane, so I was excited to try their Perfect Skin Refiner which contains mix of AHAs (10% glycolic acid) and hyaluronic acid for glowing skin. I’m currently waiting for my skin to fully heal after a rather unwelcome flare up, so once I’m good to go, I’ll definitely be giving this a try!

Glossybox UK July 2015 3

Noxidoxi is another brand I’m not familiar with, so it was lovely to get a good size tube of their Enhancing Serum Base. It promises to provide complete hydration, whilst tightening pores and providing protection from antioxidants and pollution, which is perfect for heading into the city. The Serum had a light formula which was easily absorbed into skin, so I’m looking forward to giving this a good try!

Glossybox UK July 2015 5

I absolutely adore Vichy skincare, so I was so happy to see an adorable mini glass jar of their incredible Thermal Light Cream. I love how nourishing and soothing it is, and I’m already nearly half way through it!

Glossybox UK July 2015 1

I love when beauty boxes include full size products, so Jelly Pong Pong’s tube of Lip Balm Delicieuse was a welcome addition! It’s quite a light formula for a balm, so it’s perfect if you don’t like sticky or goopy lip products, and it has a super sweet scent – delicieuse indeed!

Glossybox UK July 2015 6

As if all of the goodies weren’t enough, they came tucked inside this adorable little pouch which is adorned with a fab Jamie Lee Rardin illustration. It’s perfect for tucking inside your handbag, or if your traveling it’s great for popping your liquids in.

Glossybox is priced at £10 (+P&P) from www.glossybox.co.uk

Complex 27 Bio-Smoothing Lifting Serum*

Complex 27 Bio-Smoothing Lifting Serum

When you’re looking for a present for a man, one of my first stops is always MrPorter.com. It’s a site that’s curated to perfection, and comes from the same stable as Net-a-Porter, so you know you can’t go wrong!

Complex 27 Bio-Smoothing Lifting Serum 1

One of the best skincare options on the site has to be M.E. Skinlab’s Complex 27 Bio-Smoothing Lifting Serum which is designed to revitalise stressed skin through a three prong attack. In the formula, lemon balm and lettuce-distilled waters and calendula soothe, hyaluronic acid and proline gently relax and smooth, and centella asiatica extract stimulates the synthesis of skin tissue fibres to firm the appearance of skin overall. It’s a great choice if you’r dad doesn’t normally treat himself to great skincare, because it’s super effective without feeling too girly or feminine. There isn’t a discernible scent and it sinks in effortless so your not left with skin which looks shiny or greasy. Instead it’s left feeling hydrated and nourished with a lovely matte finish. You only need a pump or two, so with daily applications a tube should last an entire month.

M.E. Skinlab Complex 27 Bio-Smoothing Lifting Serum is priced at £90 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
