Jo Hansford Platinum Shampoo and Conditioner*

Jo Hansford Platinum Shampoo & Conditioner

As much as I love being a blonde, it can be quite a lot of upkeep! From the 6-weekly highlights, to conditioning treatments and oils and everything in between, blonde has never been an easy option. Thankfully though, dry and brassy hair isn’t something I need to even think about thanks to my new discovery of Jo Hansford’s Platinum Shampoo and Conditioner.

Jo Hansford Platinum shampoo

Just in case you haven’t heard of Jo Hansford, she is one of the world’s greatest colourists. Operating from her beautiful Mayfair salon, she’s highlighted everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to Liberty Ross. Even if you can’t get through to London to have your colour done, you can take care of it with Jo Hansford’s incredible product range.

Jo Hansford Platinum conditioner

The Platinum Shampoo and Conditioner combo has been designed especially for blonde, highlighted and grey hair as the formula clarifies and brightens colour as well as removing any yellow tones which have built up. For some strange reason, my hair, no matter how blonde, always tends to err on the warm side, which is something I’m not a fan of, so the violet duo is something I can use a couple of times per week. It’s super simple to use – you just suds up as you would with your regular choice, but be warned, it’s seriously vibrant! I like to leave the shampoo in for a minute or two, just to let everything get to work. The shampoo foams up beautifully, and it smells absolutely incredible! The grapefruit fragrance is just the thing for waking me up in the morning, and the whole bathroom smells divine once I get out of the shower! The conditioner has a perfectly light texture which is great if you wash your hair daily like I do. Jo Hansford has incuded pomegranate oil to hydrate ends, and it works incredibly well to stop any discolouration. Once my hair has been blow dried, it feels super soft, and it’s lovely and shiny, even without my regular finish of serum. Most importantly though, my colour feels super fresh, and it really cools the tone down. There isn’t a hint of brassiness of warmth, and I feel salon fresh!

Jo Hansford’s Platinum Shampoo is priced at £16.00 and the Platinum Conditioner is priced at £18.00 and both are available here.

Champagne Blow Dry – Electric Hair Edinburgh*

I’m not sure that there’s anything quite as luxurious as having your hair blown dry. Sitting back and letting someone else brush, tease and gloss your hair just feels like such a treat, add in a glass of champers, and I’m practically in heaven. So, as you can imagine, when I was kindly invited to the gorgeous Electric salon nestled in Harvey Nichols, I was rather excited!

The Electric Salon is tucked into the front corner of Harvey Nichols’ Beauty Hall. It’s a little haven from the bustling store, so, as you relax and enjoy a little primping, you can people watch everyone sampling the most divine perfumes and makeup. When I popped in for my appointment, the weather outside was the definition of miserable – rain, wind, and basically everything else that leaves your hair flat and fuzzy, so as you can imagine, I was in desperate need of a bit of hair help! Thankfully, Electric’s wonderful Scott and John came to my rescue!

I was greeted with a much needed glass of icy champagne, and then after catching up a little, I was led over to for a shampoo. The salon uses the Electric haircare range, of which I’m such a fan! Since my ends were feeling a little frazzled, Scott used the Hydrating Shampoo, and followed it with Electric’s restricting treatment. As my ends were soaking up all the goodness, I was treated to the most heavenly head massage, which made all of my stresses completely melt away. John then discussed exactly what I was after with the blow-dry (smooth, glossy with a bit of volume) and got to work. I’ve never seen the technique he used before, but it was genius. Rather than the regular barrel brush from root to tip, he used a shorter brush to achieve volume at the roots, then finished everything off with the barrel brushes. The result was smooth shiny hair that had an amazing amount of bounce. I do wish I wasn’t the world’s most awkward selfie-taker, and it was an absolute work of art!  I felt so good with my new ‘do that I just had to go have a wonder around the store, and ended up leaving, not only with a glossy mane, but a new pair of winter boots, and a pot of the Restructuring Treatment too!

Thank you so much to Harvey Nichols and Electric Hairdressing for having me!

Julien Farel Vitamin Restore*

Julien Farel Vitamin Restore

When I think about how I treat my hair, I always feel a bit guilty. On a daily basis I wash it, blow it dry and straighten it, not to mention my rather regular highlighting sessions. So, as you can imagine, I’m always on the lookout for great products which undo some of the damage which I inflict.

Julien Farel Vitamin Restore 1

If, like me, your ends are always in need of a little TLC – you need to grab a bottle of Julien Farel’s Vitamin Restore. It’s a 3-in-1 product which cleanses, treats and conditions hair, which strengthens hair after a single use. I tend to reach for the Vitamin Restore weekly, or whenever my ends are feeling a little stressed. To use, I wet all of my hair, then apply a liberal dose of the formula from roots to tips. It has quite a conditioner-like feeling, so it feels natural to leave it on for a few minutes whilst I get on with my shower. It rinses out easily and even when my hair is wet, it feels super smooth. Once I get to blowdrying, I can really feel the difference – my hair feels soft and bouncy, and it has a lovely sheen. I don’t even need to bother with a finishing creme or serum!

Julien Farel Vitamin Restore is priced at £28.00 and is available here

Molton Brown Thickening Shampoo*

Molton Brown Thickening Shampoo

So Father’s Day hits us tomorrow, and if you’re still scrambling for a gift idea – head to Molton Brown stat! I’ve already given you a sneak peek at their amazing eye roller here, an awesome moisturiser here and a luxurious fragrance here and if you package all these treats into a hamper with a bottle of something lovely, you’ve got yourself quite the gift basket! My final idea is Molton Brown’s wondrous Thickening Shampoo.

I’m pretty sure men always want more hair, it’s the same way they collect watches and wine, so to keep everything looking lush, Molton Brown has just released their new Thickening Shampoo. First of all, this stuff smells divine – the shampoo is blended with ginger extract to volumize fine hair, and it has a gorgeous true ginger scent. It’s not sweet or cloying, just very clean with a hint of warmth, basically exactly how you want your hair to smell. The volumising properties are no joke either. After using the shampoo, my hair felt nourished and looked shiny, and despite just giving it a rough blow dry, it had volume which lasted all day.

Molton Brown’s Thickening Shampoo is priced at £18.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US).

Glossybox UK May 2015*

Glossybox May 2015

I can’t believe it’s Glossybox time already! This month seems to be absolutely flying by! For May, Glossybox have presented the theme of ‘Getting Ready for Summer,’ and the little pink box is full of essentials to keep everyone looking and feeling as good as possible as the weather gets better!

May 2015 Glossybox

I think the most interesting product this month has got to be Zerreau’s Towel Off Shampoo. Apparently you don’t need water to wash your hair with this, so I can only imagine how popular this will be with those heading off the music festivals this summer. The little black tube is little enough to pop into an overnight bag, and the foam smells lovely thanks to the apple scent.

Glossybox May 2015 4

I think that Sass’ Perfect Skin Concentrate might just be my personal most reached-for item in this month’s box.

Glossybox May 2015 2

The handy spray bottle promises to prevent ingrown hairs and soothe skin through a formula rich in Salicyclic Acid, Fruit Enzymes and Aloe Vera. Although it’s designed for intimate areas, I just applied it up and down my legs as I always get ingrown hairs after shaving, and it felt lovely and soothing to use. I can’t wait to see if it makes a difference to my skin!

Glossybox May 2015 1

I really liked the inclusion of Etre Belle’s Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel since it was a box designed for heading into summer. Whenever I’m in the sun, I keep a tube of aloe in the fridge to soothe my skin incase of burns. This is a full size tube, so I’m definitely tucking it away for the summer!

Glossybox 2015 May

I loved this month’s pieces of makeup – first up is a fab little lipstick called Tulip from the Collection brand. I’ve never tried anything from the brand before, so this pretty pinky-coral is such a pretty addition to my lipstick collection!

May Glossybox

The lipstick has a lovely silky texture, and gives a good amount of coverage and colour. I’ve been wearing mine with a slick of gloss for some springtime colour!

May Glossybox 2

Last up is Me Me Me’s Enchanted Eyes doubled ended eyeliner in Midnight Storm.

May Glossybox 1

I love this chunky double ended liner which has two different shades of blue liner. One end is a beautiful metallic turquoise whilst the other a sparkly navy.

Glassybox May 3

I love double use products, because I’m always on the lookout to downscale my makeup bag. I’ve seen a couple of articles which recommend blue liners instead of black for a bit of a summer update, so I’m excited to try out a couple of new looks using the pencil!

I loved this month’s Glossybox, and I can’t wait to use the products in the run-up to summer!

Glossyboex are priced at £10 (+P&P) and are available here.
