Ok, so if you read here regularly (and come on, you should!) you’ll know I have a weakness for lip balms. I can’t stand the feeling of dry lips, so my life is basically littered with chapsticks and balms. I also have the aesthetic sensibilities of a schoolchild, so when I caught sight of these adorable lip balms, I just couldn’t resist!
If you’ve never tried these little gems, you’re seriously missing out. Teaming up with brands like Hershey, they manage to combine a rather hydrating balm formula, a rather yummy chocolate scent/flavour and you even get a hit of sheer colour! The Hershey Milk Chocolate Balm give lips a rather surprisingly flattering berry hue, and I love the cocoa taste.
The Hershey Kiss feels like it was made to be turned into a balm. Again, you get a similar hue and flavour, but this time it’s wrapped up in a rather pretty iridescent tube. Bonus? It’s almost impossible to lose in my handbag.
The last of my chocolate-y flavours comes courtesy of Reese’s (one of my favourite candies in the world). I think I could live entirely on Reese’s Pieces! The balm this time looks orange, but applies clear, and it smells just like the candy! I’m not going to lie, I can’t use this balm when I’m feeling a bit peckish – it’s just so tempting!
The Pepsi lip balm is absolutely amazing too! First off, the packaging is absolutely insane, and I love seeing the little can rolling around my makeup bag. I’ve been on a bit of a ‘weird beauty product’ kick at the moment, with hand creams which look like peaches and bananas, so having a teeny little drinks can just looks hilarious! It smells and tastes just like those cola sweeties you usually grab at the cinema.
As you can probably tell, I’m loving these affordable little makeup bag updates! If you want to get your hands on them, you can get them at Claire’s. I’ve found the Pepsi Can balm online here for £3.50
So it’s pretty rare that I receive a product and it goes directly into my everyday must-have beauty bag. I usually tinker around with them for a while and then move onto the next new thing, but happily, Lancome’s brand new Energie de Vie range has completely blown me away! I reviewed their overnight mask here and I’m still absolutely in love! For daily use though, every morning I’ve been smoothing the new Liquid Moisturiser onto freshly cleansed skin as a sort of soothing, moisturising base.
The product is inspired by Korean beauty (I’m completely obsessed by it) and is designed to smooth and soften skin, making it look and feel beautifully soft and smooth. If you suffer from oily skin, I think you could probably get away with using this as your daily moisturiser, although since I have quite dry skin, I absolute love the extra dose of hydration I get with this. You only need 1-2 pumps of the formula, which feels like a super light gel, and it just disappears into the skin. It’s a perfect product for summer as it feels so soothing and cooling to apply, and I love the light, fresh scent too!
Lancome’s Energie de Vie is priced at £28.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
I’m sure I’ve said before, that I’ve reserved Sunday evenings for a bit of a pamper, for as long as I can remember. It gives me a chance to relax, as well as to prepare for the week ahead.
As I let various face masks and potions get to work, I like to pour a bath, light a candle and play some music. It feels like a little escape from real life for an hour or two, and it’s nice just to turn off my phone and get caught up in a good book. Not to mention my skin seriously benefits from all the extra care and attention I can pay to it.
One of my newest, and most indulgent additions to my routine has been Aromatherapy Associates’ gorgeous Inner Strength Bath & Shower Oil. Packaged in an absolutely gorgeous glass bottle – I love the screw cap and brushed finish, it looks so pretty in my bathroom, so paired back and elegant!
The Inner Strength scent feels like it was made specially for my Sunday evenings! The scent is a perfectly balanced mix of powerful of Clary Sage, Frankincense and Cardamom which are specially designed to balance your emotions and stimulate the circulation. I love how chilled I feel after a good soak, and I feel like my head is in a great place for starting the week.
To use the Inner Strength Bath & Shower Oil, it couldn’t be easier, I simply run a bath and add a capful (or two) of the oil, then swirl. Since Aromatherapy Associates use such pure essential oils in their products, you do really need just a capful for a full bath. I just love how it scents the entire bathroom with the spa-worthy fragrance!
Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength is priced at £45 and is available here (UK) and here (US).
I’m not sure there is anything prettier than a tree full of blossom. The pink blooms always remind me of summer terms at school, where we would sneak off during breaks to buy ice lollies and paddle in the river, trickling back to class damp and slightly sunburned, giddy from the adventure.
Even though I feel like we’re in full on summer-mode now, my garden has only just started to blossom, so, even though everyone else’s garden is in flower, my little trees are laden with pink. So, it felt like the perfect time to break into Burberry’s stunning Full Kisses lipstick in No. 509 Cherry Blossom.
Packaged in a super sleek graphite bullet, No. 509 Cherry Blossom is one of 14 shades currently available. It’s a stunning warm-tone pink which feels absolutely perfect for summertime use.
The bullet of the lipstick is quite heavily chiselled in shape, which means it’s super easy to apply precisely, direct from the bullet. The formula itself is dreamy – it feels rich and balmy on the lips, and it leaves a glossy wash of colour in a single swipe.
It’s also wonderfully easy to build up the colour. For casually days out, I can slick on a little for a glossy baby pink finish, or, if I’m in the mood for something a bit more intense, a couple of coats gives a wonderful rosy pout. The Full Kisses lipsticks are such a great everyday choice since they’re so comfortable to wear, and even once the gloss has worn off, my lips stay stained for a good few hours.
Burberry Full Kisses Lipstick in No. 509 Cherry Blossom is priced at £24.00 and is available here.
As someone who puts rather a lot of strain on their hair, I’m always on the lookout for products which might undo some of the damage. On a regular basis, I slather my ends in all sorts of lotions and potions, but I tend to leave the roots pretty much alone, so, when Wella sent over a bottle of their new Elements Hair Strengthening Serum I got rather excited.
Unlike most serums I use, this one is specifically designed to be used on the scalp and roots of the hair. Designed to strengthen hair fibres, create volume and maintain a balanced scalp, the Hair Strengthening Serum is part of the Elements range which is free of sulphates, parabens and artificial colorants. Although Wella say that you can use the serum prior to styling, it’s a little heavy for me, so I’ve been using the serum every second or third night. I love how easy it is to use – I simply spray a little of the serum on my roots, working my way from the front to the back, sectioning off my hair. I massage it in, throw my hair in a top knot and then head to bed. I’ve been using the serum for around three or four weeks now, and I’m seeings a noticeable difference, most obviously in those baby hairs. They seem to be growing more quickly than usual, and my hair feels smoother and sleeker too!
Wella Elements Hair Strengthening Serum is priced at £16.49 and is available here
