Essie Spun in Luxe*

Essie Spun in Luxe

I thought I would continue with my Essie reviews, as the collection is just so stunning! Spun in Luxe might just be the star polish from the line-up! A perfectly black matte polish which is shot through with a sprinkling of metallic navy shimmer – this for me, is just the perfect pedicure shade.

On the nail, the formula applies smoothly, and is opaque in a single coat. Since the polish is matte, I tend to favour two coats, just to deepen the colour and make it feel a little richer. For a dark polish, Spun in Luxe dries incredibly quickly, and I just love how the light picks up on the shimmer – it gives the polish a really modern edge!

Essie Spun in Luxe is priced at £7.99 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Essie All Eyes on Nudes*

Essie All Eyes on Nude

When I saw Essie’s new Cashmere Matte Collection, I got rather excited! A collection made up of drool-worthy neutrals which dry to a soft matte – I couldn’t wait to try every single shade! The first one which took my fancy though, was All Eyes on Nudes, a  stunning camel-toned nude which is feels achingly chic to wear.

The formula of All Eyes on Nude is pretty much perfect – it’s thick enough to be opaque in a single coat, although I used two since I wasn’t using a topcoat due to the matte finish. Before applying, I made sure to thoroughly clean and buff my nails so that the finish looked perfect once everything was all painted. Thanks to the matte finish, All Eyes on Nude dries incredibly quickly, so it’s perfect if you need a manicure in a hurry!

Essie Gel Setter Top Coat*

Essie Gel Setter Top Coat

Whenever I go to the nail salon, I always wish I could get gel nails. I just think they look so wonderfully shiny, and the fact that they last past my regular two or three days. Unfortunately though, I don’t have nails which are strong enough to cope with the formulas, and the idea of soaking my nails in acetate just feels so wrong! Thankfully though, Essie have solved all of my problems with their new Gel Setter Top Coat.

Essie Gel Setter Top Coat 1

Packaged in Essie’s signature bottle, the Gel Setter Top Coat promises to give the ‘rock-hard’ shine of a gel manicure without any of the nasty stuff. And I have to say, I’m impressed! I’ve been using it to top off my manicures for the past couple of weeks, and it’s become my go-to. After applying two coats of my colour of choice, I simply top my nails off with a light coat of the Gel Setter. The Top Coat has quite a thick consistency, but it’s dreamy to apply, and goes on super smoothly. Unlike other polishes which claim to have gel qualities, Essie’s new Gel Setter dries incredibly quickly and there isn’t a hint of bubbling once it starts to dry. Instead, I’m left with super-shiny nails which dry in record time! I’m not sure that Gel Setter improves my wear time for polishes – I average at two to three days per application, but the fact that my nails are so pretty and shiny more than makes up for it!

Essie Gel Setter Top Coat is priced at £9.99 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Essie Cashmere Matte Collection*

Essie Cashmere Matte Collection

I’ve had a soft spot for matte nail varnishes for the past couple of years. I picked my first one up (by mistake) a while ago, and became a little obsessed with how cool dark, matte nails looked when applied perfectly.

So, when I saw that Essie had released their new Cashmere Matte collection, I was rather excited! Inspired by the luxurious ‘sophisticated chic’ of the yarn, the polishes are designed to have a semi-satin finish, and come in a selection of six colours.

Essie Cashmere Matte Neutrals

I’ve been trying out the colours, and it’s absolutely impossible to pick a favourite! The three lighter colours are perfect if you’re after a neutral mani update, while the deeper shades are really beautifully unexpected.

I’m going to be posting my individual reviews up soon, but if you’re after a new twist for your manicure, I’d definitely recommend checking them out!

Essie Partner in Crime

As I’m sure you’re aware, I am more than a little obsessed with Essie’s new Fall/Winter Collection. Partner in Crime is my latest acquisition – a stunning creamy chocolate brown which is most definitely a new Fall staple!

Like all of the polishes from the range I’ve tried, the formula is a complete dream! The colour applies smoothly and evenly and I’m sure you could get away with a single coat if you’re in a hurry.

I am completely obsessed with the colour – the rich brown is super flattering for my skin tone, and it feels more unexpected than my go-to black. I also think this is the perfect pedi shade, if you’re wearing a neutral manicure it looks incredibly chic and pulled together.

The nail varnish costs £9.99 and is available from Boots and Superdrug
