To say that the weather has been could for the past couple of weeks is something of an understatement. The sun has hardly peeked out, and as a result, I’ve been at something of a quandary about what colour to choose for my pedicures. I feel like black is a bit dull considering we’re in the middle of July, and my usual bright reds and pinks just feel a little tired. Essie’s new Pret-a-Surfer shade, though feels incredibly fresh to wear.
Described as ‘marine blue,’ Pret-a-Surfer is a stunning creamy shade which veers from almost denim to milky depending on the light. The application of the polish was perfect – almost opaque in one coat, and completely in two. The colour applied evenly, and it dried to a glossy finish – everything you could ask for in a summer polish!
Essie Prêt a Surfer is priced at £7.99 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
I’m slowly but surely making my way through Essie’s summer 2015 collection, and I have to say, every single shade is a winner! My latest colour-crush is Saltwater Happy, a stunning blue creme polish which just sparks images of miles of ocean and is begging to be worn on the beach!
Described as a sugar sweet atlantic blue, Saltwater Happy is a stunning cool toned periwinkle which has slight lilac or grey undertones depending upon the light. I was pleasantly surprised with the formula, which applied smoothly and evenly, and was completely opaque in two coats.
I finished off my manicure with a slick of topcoat, and I’ve been good to go for the past 2 days without a chip. I’m in love with the chambray blue colour as it just feels so fresh and clean!
Essie’s Saltwater Happy is priced at £7.99 and is available in-store at Boots now and here for US readers!
When it comes to colours I turn to almost exclusively in the summer, coral definitely tops the list. There’s something so flattering about the shade that just looks on point with a tan, and my new favourite might just be Essie’s newest – Sunset Sneaks.
The shade looks like it leans slightly more to red when in the bottle, but once applied, Sunset Sneaks is a stunning pink toned coral. Application was an absolute breeze – I needed two thin coats for full opacity, and it applied evenly without streaking or bubbling.
I’ve been sporting Sunset Sneaks as my pedicure colour choice for the past few days, and it’s absolutely gorgeous to look at! The wear-time has been great too! I’m 3 days in without a hint of a chip or tip wear, and the colour is as bright and glossy as when I applied it!
Essie’s Sunset Sneaks will be available soon priced at £7.99 and is available here for US
I think Essie’s new Chillato nail polish might have been the shade I was most excited to try out from the new summer ’15 collection. I own exactly zero lemon or limey green polishes, and considering how gorgeous and fresh it looked in the bottle, I couldn’t wait to give it go!
Described as a ‘frozen cream pistachio’ Chillato is the most stunning not-quite-pastel-not-quite-neon lime green I think I’ve come across. For even and opaque coverage, I needed two coats, but the polish was easy to work with, and dry to a smooth finish. I would definitely recommend a top coat so that it’s as shiny as possible. The wear time for Chillato was great – I got three days of chip free wear with it until I changed my colours.
I’m absolutely in love with the shade! It feels so fresh and different to wear, and I can’t tell you how many people have stopped to ask me what colour it is! It’s the perfect summer colour for so many reasons, primarily just because it’s so pretty! I think this will look awesome when worn with a tan, and it even made my paper white skin look a little darker when I wore it!
Essie’s Chillato will be priced at £7.99 and will be released soon and is available here in the US.
In case it’s not too obvious, I’m rather obsessed with Essie’s newest summer 2015 collection. It’s full of colours which are just aching to be worn poolside, and I’ve not even been able to pick out a favourite shade yet because they are all so pretty! Peach Side Babe gives the collection its name, and it’s a stunning saturated peach creme polish which is going to look incredible with a tan!
Application for Peach Side Babe was great, I only needed two coats to get an even opaque coverage. I’m loving the slightly orange tint which really brightens up my usually neutral manicure choice! It’s also a surprising neutral and it looks amazing paired with Sunset Sneaks (review to come).
Essie’s Peach Side Babe will cost £7.99 and will be available soon US readers can find them here!
