August 2016 Glossybox*

This month is Glossbybox’s fifth birthday, and to celebrate, they’ve released a box filled with subscriber favourites, and if you’re into gorgeous neutrals, this is the box for you! Before even cracking the open, can we discuss the box itself? It’s an adorable monogrammed pink and grey number which is just adorable!

DSC_0188

There’s a good mix of makeup, skincare and accessories in this month’s box, and subscribers are able to choose which palette they receive from a choice of four. Since they’re all a good mix of neutrals, you can’t really go wrong!

DSC_0199

The first of this month’s goodies is the full size Spa to You facial brush. A mix of soft bristles and silicon rods, the brush is designed to exfoliate skin as well as help foaming cleansers work more effectively. I love a good face brush, and I’ve never tried one with silicon bits in it, but this makes foaming face washes get super lathery and I like to use it about twice a week to keep my skin looking clear.

DSC_0235

I was super excited to see the mini bottle of The Cowshed Body Lotion in this month’s box. Every time I’m down in London, I tried to head to the salon’s Notting Hill location, and their products always feel super luxe to use. This one is Wild Cow – an invigorating mix of lemongrass, rosemary and ginger. It’s so lovely and fresh, and leaves skin soft and smooth.

DSC_0213

I’m going to assume that the MUS Makeup Academy’s Hall of Fame Palette will be a serious most-loved element of subscribers boxes. Mine contains 12 of MUA’s favourite eyeshadows.

DSC_0220

They’re a stunning cool-toned mix of mattes and shimmers, and I have to say, the metallic shades are insane. The pigment for them is seriously comparable to premium shadows in my stash, and they add a perfect sheen to neutral toned eye looks.

DSC_0243

I think my favourite part of this month’s box is is the luxury sized tester tube of Mudmasky’s Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask. If you’re looking for a Glamglow-esque mask, this is the one for you. It’s pretty lightweight, and smooths on easily and dries quickly. It feels lovely and cleansing to use, and I’m very much a fan!

DSC_0248

The last part of this month’s box is a Rae Feather monogrammed beauty bag. If you’re initials are GB you’re in luck! Glossy box state that it’s worth over £20, which feels like an awful lot for a canvas bag. Since my initials aren’t anywhere near the monogram, I’m probably not going to reach for it. Instead of including one in the box, I do wish there had just been a voucher for the store to personalise one with my own monogram.

All in all, though, I thought this month was a really great one for Glossybox – I’m going to be using most of the products seriously regularly!

I’m not sure about you, but the increasingly good weather has me rather excited for spring and summer to finally arrive. Thankfully Glossybox seem to agree, as their latest box is all about getting your glow on. A nicely balanced mix of skincare, makeup and tools, if you’re not already subscribed, I’m sure you won’t be able to resist!

DSC_0352

First up is a shampoo and conditioner duo from -417 Catharsis Vitamin Mineral range. It’s a brand I’ve never heard of before, so getting to try out both the shampoo and conditioner is a real treat! I love the glamorous packaging, and the duo promises to draw out impurities from the scalp, as well as be packed full of vitamins thanks to the Dead Sea Mud in the formula. I can’t wait to try these out this weekend!

DSC_0380

The dinkiest member of this month’s box is the little tube of Olay’s Skin Tone Perfecting Cream. Considering I like to wear as little makeup as possible in good weather, this is a little gem of a cream which promises to even out skin, improve skin tone and give some much needed glow.

DSC_0385

The tube of Hey Honey Honey Silk Facial Serum is the perfect size for slipping into my everyday makeup bag, meaning my skin can already feel the benefit of it. The formula contains an absolute tonne of great-for-skin ingredients like honey, silk amino acid, sea buckthorn oil and vitamin e, and it’s a super easy way to inject a little extra moisture into your skincare routine.

DSC_0354

Possibly my favourite part of this month’s box is the Luxie 504 Large Angled face brush. Before I even got to try it out, I fell in love the the pretty pink handle and rose gold accents, but I’m pleased to say that it’s a really great brush.

DSC_0363

Larger than my regular angled face brush, Luxie’s offering is a real multitasker! If you’re after an easy way to sculpt cheekbones with some subtle contouring, this really does the job! Not only that, but I’ve been using it to apply my highlighter every morning (recently it’s been this one). The larger head means that it diffuses powder evenly, leaving a sheer glow behind.

DSC_0390

Last but not least is the adorable little Speedy Highlighter from Collection. Looking awfully like a dupe for Clinique’s Chubby Stick Highligher. The light pink colour also kind of reminds me of Benefit’s High Beam. Since it is so light, I don’t think that darker skinned girls will get much use out of it, but it’s such a pretty colour. The formula deposits a gentle gleam quickly and easily, and I’ve been swiping it over my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and my cupids bow for a little extra sheen. In very bight light, it does tend to glitter a little, so I’m keeping mine for evening use.

This month is such a great little box of real work-horse products which I can really see myself reaching for. If you want to subscribe to Glossybox, you can do it here.

Glossybox January 2016*

DSC_0753

Each month, I get rather excited when the postman delivers my Glossybox. From the pretty pink boxes they come in, to the new brands they let me sample, each month is filled with lovely surprises (and who doesn’t like some new cosmetics each month? I also am loving the fact that Glossybox seem to be featuring a tonne of full sized items – there isn’t a single dinky tester this month, so it’s serious value for money!

DSC_0762

I feel like January’s box is pretty skincare-heavy, but since I’m sure that 99% of people have some sort of resolution to take better care of themselves, I can completely understand why. Unani’s a brand that I’ve never come across before. From my online digging, I’ve found out that it’s a Spanish family company which specialize in natural and organic ingredients. The Dermo Defense Face Mask has a light, gel-like texture which feels super calming and nourishing to apply. I’ve been popping it on after cleansing every couple of nights, as it’s designed to nourish sensitive skin whilst removing impurities.

DSC_0774

Another new-to-me brand is Madara, whose Cellular Repair Serum is included in this month’s box. I’ve not tried this one out yet (as I’m currently road testing another serum) but it’s designed to be anti-aging, which is always a good thing!

DSC_0766

This rather eye-catching gem is a Teez lipstick in Oasis Gem. It’s a full sized product, and is a perfect little pick-me-up if you’re looking for something a little brighter in all this wintry weather.

DSC_0769

Oasis Gem is a bright pink-toned coral which should flatter most skintones, and it’s a lovely change from my regular pinky-nude choices. Mine looks a little battered as the lipstick itself fell out of the tube when I twisted it up, but it’s fine to use as long as I’m gentle with it. It has a super smooth texture thanks to the coconut oil in the formula, which is perfect for winter-parched lips.

DSC_0781

Naobay’s Orange Juice Hand Cream is next up, and it’s a lovely full sized tube of juicy goodness! I can’t get enough handcream at the moment – I’m desperately trying to have nice looking hands and nails, but my addiction to hand sanitizer as well as the cold weather has my digits looking less than perfect. The cream has a lovely light orange fragrance which smells perfectly fresh and fruity without feeling overpowering, and the formula is packed with Shea Butter, Chamomile, and Aloe Vera extracts to soothe and heal skin.

DSC_0756

Last up is the very generously sized Glossybox eyeshadow in Mauve. It’s a full sized product, and it feels huge compared to my shadows from brands like MAC. It’s a stunning cool toned mauve which is easy to wear and really flatters my hazel eyes. For day I’ve been using the shadow dry, but you can use the shadow with a damp brush to achieve a more dramatic look.

Glossybox has certainly started the year strong – I absolutely loved the mix of skincare and makeup, and it’s nice nice to have some fresh products to add to my collection for 2016! Will you be subscribing?

Glossybox December 2015*

Glossybox UK December

I think we all have rather high expectations for the last beauty boxes of the year, and thankfully, Glossybox haven’t haven’t disappointed! Teaming up with blogger ReallyRee, this month’s offering is a study in rose gold, and covers everything from skincare to lipgloss!

Glossybox UK December 1Glossybox UK December 2

The box itself is such a joy to open – a metallic rose gold emblazoned with wintery sayings. It feels wonderfully seasonal, and it’s just so pretty!

Glossybox UK December contents

Once you get inside, you can see how well thought out the box is. With everything from a face mask to highlighter, the box really does contain everything you need to get through the festive season!

Glossybox UK December decleor

I’m always rather happy to get Darphin samples – they’re a brand I’m pretty much in love with, so getting to try the new 8 Flower Nectar Oil Cream. It’s a super rich formula, that just sinks into dry skin, so my winter-ravaged skin has really been enjoying the treat! It is quite heavily fragranced, but it’s such a gentle cream that I don’t really mind.

Glossybox UK December 3

Etre Belle is a brand I don’t think I’ve come across before, but their Caviar Eye Gel sounds rather luxurious! Packaged in a golden roller ball, the gel smoothes, relaxes and refreshes tired eyes, so it’s perfect for using after late evenings. The gel itself is lovely and lightweight, and I keep my rollerball in the fridge for some extra refreshment.

Glossybox UK December 8

The final piece of skincare in the box is a Starskin Red Carpet Ready Face Mask. I absolutely adore these paper masks, as they force me to sit still and actually relax, so I’m looking forward to trying out this one! It promises to smooth, rejuvenate and hydrate skin, so I can’t wait!

Glossybox UK December 4

I don’t think I could love the colour of this Essence Liquid Lipstick any more if I tried. Even though I wear neutral shades daily, this pinky red is just so pretty, and it provides a much needed pop of colour during grey evenings.

Glossybox UK December 5

It’s a full size tube, and it has a beautifully glossy finish on the lips. It’s not the longest-wearing colour I’ve tried, but it’s a great colour and doesn’t feel drying to wear.

Glossybox UK December 9

In grey December days, I like my skin to look as healthy as possible, so this So Susan Skin Highlighting Crayon was very warmly welcomed. I think it’s another full size product, and it’s a great little makeup bag staple.

Glossybox UK December 10

Packaged in a crayon stick, the highlighter itself has a chiselled tip for precise and easy application, and on the skin it gives a luminous golden sheen. If you’re a mid to olive tone, I think this will look absolutely stunning, as it does look a little yellow on my pink-toned skin.

Glossybox UK December 6

The last little gem in the box is a full size nail colour from the Cheeky brand. It’s the diffusion line from the Cowshed Beauty Line, and the shade is Candy Shop – a true bubblegum pink.

Glossybox UK December 7

To get an even, opaque coverage I needed three thin coats, but it’s such a staple shade, I can see myself reaching for it well into the Spring.

Glossybox subscriptions are priced from £10.00 per month +p&p and are available here.

Glossybox UK November 2015*

Glossybox November 2015 uk

I’ve always been a big fan of the Glossybox – I mean, who wouldn’t love a beautifully packaged pink box of goodies arriving at the door every month? But, they have seriously stepped up their game in the past few months. Absolutely everything in this month’s box is a winner, and now that we’re heading straight into party season, I can see myself reaching for my new goodies incredibly regularly!

Glossybox November 2015 uk 1

The theme for this month’s box is Lipstick to Lashes (although unfortunately, I didn’t receive a lipstick) so I thought I would start with the lashes! They’re Eyelure Naturalites, a brand that I’ve never tried before, but I love how subtle the lashes look.

Glossybox November 2015 uk 2Glossybox November 2015 uk 3

I’m a big fan of lashes, so I can’t wait to give these a trial run! They come packaged with a little vial of adhesive, and they are a beautiful, glossy black, so these will be absolutely perfect for adding a subtle oomph to my lashes over the next few weeks.

Glossybox November 2015 uk 10

When I saw the tube of Emite Diamond Heart Primer, I got rather excited! I’ve been really trying to remember to use primer on a daily basis, so this new one came at the perfect time!

Glossybox November 2015 uk 11

The brand promises that it gives skin a beautiful healthy glow, and I don’t think you want anything else at this time of year. The formula is a soft peachy-pink colour, and it completely disappears into skin, leaving it feeling very soft and smooth. It’s a great base for layering even the lightest of formulas on top.

Glossybox November 2015 uk 7

As something of a neutral eyeshadow fiend, I was absolutely ecstatic to receive a full size palette from MUA. I’ve never tried anything from the brand before, so a palette packed full of 12 stunning browns was a great place to start.

Glossybox November 2015 uk 9

The palette feels well considered, and the shades range from buttery neutrals to charcoal black. The mix of satin and shimmer finishes is great, and the palette is a great one to slip into a makeup bag if you need to amp up your look during the day.

Glossybox November 2015 uk 4

I think the product I was most excited about was the Royal Apothic Cream Creme which I received in the scent Venetian Grove.

Glossybox November 2015 uk 5

As if the packaging wasn’t gorgeous enough, the scent is something special – a mix of Currant, Plum, Orange, and Clove which smells so clean and fresh, it’s an absolute joy to apply.

Glossybox November 2015 uk 6

The cream itself feels wonderfully rich, and since I’m so in love with the fragrance, I’ve been using it mainly as a hand cream so I can eek it out for as long as possible! Even though the cream is quite thick, it sinks easily into the skin, and leaves my hands feeling and smelling great!

This may be my favourite box yet!
