La Gent and Apparatus Censer

Over the past few years I’ve gotten seriously into interiors. I’m pretty sure it comes from my mother who can debate the merits of putty vs ecru for hours if you let her, but all kidding aside, the care she takes with interior design is something impressive!

Since my own taste has turned out to be something on the minimalist side (I can’t really deal with too many colours or patterns) I’m always on the look out for object d’art which are both completely functional as well as incredibly beautiful. My latest lusting is taking place over this beautiful Apparatus Censur from new luxury retail La Gent.

La Gent has managed to stock New York’s amazing lighting company Apparatus, who produce the most stunning pieces which feel both incredibly original yet the fact that they’re handmade really give them a sense of heritage. This Censer can be used to burn incense, or you can even pop a tea light under the ceramic dome for a beautiful light.

As you can tell, I’m pretty bowled over by Apparatus’ designs, so I’m seriously saving up for a couple of pieces. It’s not easy though, La Gent has a really incredibly curated selection of home wear, beauty and even fashion. Unfortunately, it is aimed towards men, so I’ve not had much luck in the swimwear department! But, the site is incredibly beautiful to look through, and everything on it looks like it’s been plucked from some stylish Downtown NY apartment!

You can find the Apparatus Censer here and check out www.la-gent.com for some serious lust list making!

Some Closet Inspiration

At the moment I’m in the middle of some serious home renovations. Paint samples are dotting the walls, and I’ve been oohing and ahhing over tile samples for way too long!

Before we even got started though, there was one area of the house which I knew exactly what I wanted – my wardrobe. Thankfully I have quite a large built in wardrobe that blends into the wall. It’s got wooden doors which open out, and it is pretty deep, complete with a few shelves for my numerous bags and shoes.

To make it feel more like one of those walk-ins I regularly drool over I had the idea to install a couple of lights, so it makes it so much easier to decide what I want to wear in the morning.

I can’t tell you how much of a difference a couple of LED bulbs make. I can see exactly where everything is, and it feels almost like a little corner of a boutique. So that everything feels organised and all a bit special, I got our electrician to install lights both in the top portion, and under the shelf.

It means that I don’t have neglected dusty corners anymore, and I know exactly whats hanging up! To finish my luxe makeover I had new carpet installed, and I also had the walls painted a beautiful vanilla shade. You can find similar lights to the ones I used (and basically any lighting idea you can imagine) right here.
