So I think it’s safe to say that we are now squarely in autumn. I can’t tell you how many pumpkin spice lattes I’ve ordered, and I’ve already made two batches of spiced pumpkin loaf. Not only that, but the nights are drawing in, and the air is getting decidedly chillier. Thankfully though, all this means is that I get to crack into new Autumn/Winter beauty ranges, and there Jacava London’s Woodlanders Collection has really caught my eye. A selection of 17 stunning shades which are just perfect for this time of year, I’ve been in absolute heaven! And the good news? You can win the entire set just by clicking here.
I had never tried Jacava London polishes before – but being a 9-free formula, the varnishes are a more natural and gentler alternative to many on the market, and means that for people like me who paint their nails regularly, they are much less harsh and drying. So, in addition to having a stunning selection of shades and a great formulation, I think we all have to agree that the bottles are really something special too!
The first of the polishes which I tried out was Lavender Court, which is described as a smokey-grape or mulberry, I was surprised at how dark and vampy it looked in my swatch. In the bottle it’s definitely quite purple, but on the nail it transforms into a stunning moody cherry shade, which feels super chic on short, slightly rounded nails. I’ve also been loving it as a neutral pedi option! The formula of the polish was gorgeously creamy, and was completely opaque in two coats. Even though Lavender Court is quite a deep shade, the varnish dried quickly and smoothly, and I didn’t need to worry about bubbles or smearing.
Next up is Ormande Gate, which is just the most perfect dusty, almost petrol blue shade. It’s a great choice for someone like me who tends to favour more neutral choices, but is looking for something a little different.
I’ve been opting for Ormande Gate when I know I’m going to be wearing denim and greys, as it really pulls my looks together, and it’s really flattering on my short nails.
Again, the formula of Jacava London’s Ormande Gate was flawless – the creamy texture was completely opaque in two coats, and it dried to a smooth, high shine. The wear time is great – I got three days before I noticed little signs of tip wear, and I’m notoriously hard on my nails!
Last up is Holbein Place, the brightest of my trio, it’s a stunning dusky violet which is just wonderful to wear on damp, grey days for a pop of colour!
In the bottle, Holbein Place looks quite vibrant, but it’s actually a super pretty dusky grape which is just such a fun shade to wear! I don’t have anything quite like it in my stash, so I’ve been reaching for it whenever I feel like I need a little something extra. It’s also the type of polish which gains a serious amount of attention – I had three people in a day ask what brand and colour I was wearing!
Again, the formula of Holbein Place was completely dreamy – a smooth, creamy wash of colour which was complete opaque in two coats, and dried to a smooth, glossy finish.
Jacava London Polishes are priced at £15.50 each, but you can win the entire A/W 2015 collection here
