Whenever I’m in New York, London or Paris, I never miss the chance to pop into the nearest Laduree. The gorgeous little jewel box shops are just so wondrously pretty.

The Dorchester

DSC01713

I’m somewhat a creature of habit, and whenever I’m in London, I stay at the Dorchester. Located on Park Lane, the hotel is a hop, skip and a jump away from my stomping ground of Harrods and the King’s Road and I love the cosy comfort of their chintzy rooms.

I hadn’t been down to London in a couple of years, and in the meantime, the hotel has undergone somewhat of a makeover. Gone are Laura Ashley florals, and in their place is an updated take on a country style. The room was still wonderfully cosy, but the colour palette was updated and the frills toned down a notch. Thankfully, my favorite aspects of the rooms remain the same – namely their pillows (seriously, these need to be squeezed to be believed), and their bathrooms.

Boasting the deepest baths in London, The Dorchester has a bathroom which is really the epitome of luxury. From the grey marble walls to baths deep enough to swim in, I literally spent half my time in the tub.

With toiletries selected from Aromatherapy Associates – bubble baths here cannot be beaten. Also – the little stool which you can use to towel off are such a wonderful little luxury – a new feature of my home bathroom!

It is the attention to details which really sets the hotel apart from its competitors – this incredible little bird was right outside my door, I am beyond obsessed with it!

The Dorchester really is the definition of old-school luxury, and it’s definitely my favourite little hideaway in the city. The spa is such a find too – imagine walls of Essie polishes and pearl chandeliers and you’re halfway there.

I had such a wonderful time at the hotel, and can’t wait to find the time to return (and I won’t be leaving a few years between visits this time).

I stayed in a Deluxe King Room, where rates start at £474 per night plus VAT
