Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick -Nude Embrace*

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick

So even though I’ll be a subtle glossy-lip girl for life, more and more frequently I’ve been adding a matte lip into my routine to change things up a little. Paired with glossy, natural skin and a defined brow, I love how modern it looks, and it’s such a fun (not to mention easy) way to update my makeup bag.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick 1

Packaged in a sleek, brushed bullet, The Maybelline Color Sensation lipstick in Nude Embrace has been one of my little favourites to achieve a flattering nude lip look. I’ve mentioned before, that I think Maybelline have really upped their game recently, and most of the products I’ve tried from them wouldn’t feel out of place on a high-end makeup counter. Happily, their Color Sensational Matte Lipstick is no different! The formula is super pigmented, with a creamy colour payoff that’s up there with my premium lipsticks. Nude Sensational is one of six available shades, which run the gamut from deep berries to milky pinks. Mine is somewhere in the middle, as a beautiful warm toned neutral.

After buffing my lips, I apply a little balm (I’m a fan of Sisley or Omorovicza) then apply straight from the tube. The colour applies easily and evenly, and I have completely opaque coverage with a quick swipe. Like most matte formulas, Maybelline’s doesn’t feel super hydrating, but it’s easy to touch up with a little balm as the day goes on. The wear-time for the lipstick is pretty good going too! I got four hours of wear before I felt the colour was fading a bit and needed touching up. The only downside is the rather strong vanilla fragrance. I’m not the biggest vanilla fan in the world, so this feels a little ott, but considering the gorgeous colour and impressive staying power, I don’t really mind too much!

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks are priced at £6.99 each and are available here (UK) and here (US)

I always like to brighten up Mondays with a bit of a pop of colour, and there isn’t much that’s pretty than Maybelline’s Power Peony Lipstick!

Maybelline Power Peony 1

Described by many as a dupe for MAC’s iconic Saint Germaine, Power Peony an absolutely stunning cool, blue toned pink which is perfect if you’re looking for a little pop of spring! Packaged in a super chic silver tube complete with transparent pink lid, Maybelline’s Rebel Bloom lipstick collection is absolutely gorgeous! I love how bright yet wearable all the lipstick shades are!

Maybelline Power Peony

In the tube, Power Peony looks like it could be a little scary to wear, but when applied it’s super flattering! Like all of Maybelline’s ColorSensational Rebel Bloom lippies, it’s has a creamy and full coverage formula, but unlike a lot of colour-rich lipsticks, Maybelline’s offering feels moisturising and almost balmy. UIn the tube, it looks like there is a tiny blue micro glitter, but this is unnoticeable when applied, and the blue undertones of the shade are super for make your teeth look pearly white! The wear time of the lipstick is fabulous too – I easily got 3 hours of wear before I felt the need to re-apply.

Maybelline’s Power Peony is priced at £6.99 and is available here (UK) and here (US).

Maybelline Color Sensation Rebel Bloom Lipstick – Pink Petal*

Maybelline Petal Pink Lipstick

I always feel Mondays need a bit of a nudge to get going. At the very least I need a large coffee to feel somewhat human, but a lipstick as gorgeous as Maybelline’s Petal Pink might just make the morning zip by!

Maybelline Petal Pink Lipstick 1

Packaged in a super chic transparent pink and silver tube, Maybelline’s Color Sensation lipsticks feel like they are seriously premium products. I’m also obsessed with the colour – it’s a stunning blue toned pink, which I’m just dying to wear with a tan!

It’s also a rather fun way to perk up my very neutral everyday makeup – a slick of Pink Petal really adds a much needed pop of springtime colour! Considering this is one of the first Maybelline lipsticks I’ve tried, I was pleasantly surprised with how nourishing the formula feels to wear. Applied straight from the tube, Pink Petal gave a gorgeous even coverage, and it had a lovely glossy sheen, which easily lasted for two hours.
