I’m not sure I could love the Choupette-inspired Shu Uemura Christmas Collection any more! The little sketches of the kitty on the packaging are absolutely adorable, and even better, the products themselves are great staples. The last piece of my collection is the Eye Need You Shu Trio in Pink, a collection of buff, chocolate and pink eyeshadows.
The little white compact is dainty enough to be popped into your makeup bag, and the clear lid means that it’s easy to know I’m reaching for my eyeshadow trio rather thank my lip trio if I’m in a hurry! The shadow colour collection, as well as being incredibly pretty, is really well thought out. In the past I’ve been a little wary of pink eyeshadows, but Shu’s offering is beautifully sheer, and works well to warm up whichever shadow I’ve plumped for. I’ve found it to be most flattering when I wear it on the outside of my eye crease, it feels pretty and sophisticated that way, rather than making my look tired. The warm chocolate brown shadow is absolutely gorgeous – the formula has a subtle glitter running through it, and the colour payoff is great. For a casual day look, I pat it on using my finger, and if I need a more dramatic or defined look, I use an aged eye brush to use the shade as a liner. The final colour is a stunning sheer golden shadow. This is a perfect brow-bone highlighter, and it also looks incredible patted into the inner corners of my eyes. When I’ve been in a pinch, the shadow also works as a pretty highlighter for my cheekbones when I want a natural, dewy look.
The trio is absolutely gorgeous and is available for £30.00 here.
I think the very first time I heard of Shu Uemura as a brand it was because of their game-changer of an eyelash curler. It’s one of those few products that every professional declares as a holy grail product, and it’s not hard to see why!
Unlike other curlers I’ve tried, Shu Uemura’s is incredibly easy to use. It doesn’t trap eyelids in the mechanism, and it doesn’t create a weird kink in lashes. Before applying mascara I simply press the curler down gently on my lashes for 3-5 seconds, and I’m left with eyes which immediately look bigger, wider and more awake. The rubber guard on the curler feels bouncy, and the curl lasts all day.
As part of Shu Uemura’s adorable Christmas line, the curlers have been slightly updated with an adorable rubber stamp charm featuring a Lagerfeld sketch of his adorable ‘Shupette.’ The curlers come complete in a special pink box, and I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t adore these as a stocking stuffer!
The curlers cost £20.00 and are available exclusively at Selfridges.
If you follow me on Twitter (which you should) you’ll have seen the sneak peak of the brand new and limited edition collection by Shu Uemura inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette. Wittily entitled ‘Shupette’ all of the pieces are decorated with the cutest Lagerfeld sketch of the kitty, and they are completely adorable!
My lip trio is one of two colour choices, and is called Tokyo Kawaii. It’s a dinky little thing with 3 great colour choices. For day, I tend to go for the shade on the far right, which is a stunning natural pink. To deepen the shade, I just pat on a little of the middle colour, I tend to use the left hand colour as an easy blush. I absolutely adore the creamy formulas, and the pigmentation is great! The colours aren’t quite as shiny as a true gloss, but they do have a flattering sheen. They also feel balmy when applied, and they don’t dry out my lips despite being so pigmented!
The palette is limited edition and is available exclusively at Selfridges for £30.00
