Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick – Magenta Matte*

Recently, like most people, I’ve loving a matte lip, it feels fun to wear, and makes a change from my usual glosses. It feels a little more dressed up to wear, and I’m just in love with Smashbox’s Be Legendary Matte Formula.

Packaged in Smashbox’s signature slick black bullet, Magenta Matte is the most beautiful, perfect pink which feels so right for the upcoming long Easter weekend! It’s a real show-stopping Barbie pink, which I have absolutely fallen in love with!

Before applying, I like to prep my lips with a favourite scrub (this one) and balm (Sisley, review to come) so that the colour applies smoothly and evenly. The Be Legendary lipstick formula is the stuff of dreams! Unlike a lot of matte lipsticks, Smashbox’s offering is silky soft, and doesn’t pull or tug on the lips.

For a soft, diffused look, I apply the lipstick with my fingers, dabbing the colour into the centre of my lips, and blending out. For a more vibrant feel, I apply straight from the bullet, using a lip brush to clean everything up. The colour payoff from the lipstick is incredible, and the longevity you get is really wonderful. After applying, I easily get 4-5 hours of wear before I feel the need to touch up, and even when it’s fading a little, it leaves lips with the prettiest pink stain which looks perfect under a little balm.

Smashbox Be Legendary Magenta Matte is priced at £17.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Now that spring feels like it’s just around the corner, I’ve noticed my makeup routine has started to change. Even though I’m always after a light coverage foundation, I’ve been mixing in more radiant primer to give me a natural-looking glow, and I’ve been loving wearing a subtle peachy-pink lip.

After buffing my lips, and applying a light layer of balm, I simply pat Smashbox’s Be Legendary Lipstick using my ring finger and I’m good to go! Packaged in the brand’s signature slick black bullets, the lipstick is one of six matte shades, and it’s perfect if you’re looking for a long-lasting lip colour which is super saturated, you have to check them out!

Paris Pink is a stunning, surprisingly bright peach-toned pink, which is quickly becoming my go-to shade. On the lips, it feels super creamy, and the colour payoff is fantastic. I love the fact that once it’s on, I don’t need to worry about reapplying for a good four to five hours. It’s also one of the least drying matte shades I’ve worn – it feels nourishing and lightweight to wear, I’m already planning which shades to plump for next!

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Paris Pink Matte is priced at £17 and is available here (UK) and here (US)

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick – Matte Vibrant Magenta

Smashbox Be Legendary Magenta Matte Lipstick

Since it’s Friday, I couldn’t think of anything better than sharing one of my newest and brightest finds – the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Matte Vibrant Magenta, a brand new colour for Summer 2015.

With a special edition decorated tube by Donald Robertson, Magenta is definitely one of the most show-stopping shades I own!

The lipstick itself comes packaged in a chic black case, which feels almost rubberised, so thankfully I don’t have to keep wiping fingerprints off of it!

I am absolutely obsessed with the shade – a stunning blue toned, almost neon pink which is perfect for making a statement! Since I don’t wear attention-grabbing colours too much, I like to pair the lipstick with a subtle, naturally bronzed look. Since the lipstick is matte, it’s also super important to prep your lips before application. I use a sugar scrub followed by a rich lip balm to make sure my lips feel hydrated and there isn’t any dry skin for the colour to cling to.

The formulation of the lipstick is impressive – especially for a shade that’s both so pigmented and matte! I can apply straight from the tube, and the colour goes on perfectly. Since the lipstick has a matte finish, it feels more sophisticated that Barbie, and the wear time is really impressive. I easily got 4 hours of wear before I needed to think about touching up, and even then, my lips still had a pink stain – I just wanted to refresh the brightness. Since the formula is matte, it doesn’t feel balmy to use, but I just made sure to always apply a layer of balm underneath to counteract any dryness.

As you can tell, I’m pretty much obsessed with the shade, and will definitely be reaching for it pretty regularly when I’ve got a tan!
