So next week is Halloween, so I’m sure you have many a party lined up. And, if you’re not getting dressed up as some sort of zombie, it’s very possible a red lipstick will be part of your arsenal. So, if you’re looking to for a rather gorgeous option, I would seriously check out Tom Ford’s perfect Scarlet Rouge.
Like all of Mr. Ford’s lipsticks, it comes nestled in the most glamorous of black and gold tubes. It’s the epitome of old-school glamour, and it feels so luxurious to use! Even better is the almond shaped lipstick which is embossed with TF – this truly is a work of art!
After prepping my lips with a quick scrub and a coating of balm, I applied the formula straight from the tube. The lipstick glides on like a dream. Without a hint of effort, I had smooth and even coverage, and the colour is truly sublime. A blue-based red which makes my teeth look pearly white, I easily got 5 hours before I felt the need for a touch up. This really is a must-have red which you’ll be picking up well after next weekend!
If you want to grab yourself a tube (and really, you should!) it costs £37.00 and is available here (UK) and here (US)
It’s no secret that when it comes to lipsticks, nudes tend to be my go-to. It’s just so easy to keep one in my makeup bag and not have to think about touch ups. But since we’re heading straight for winter, I sometimes feel I need a lipstick with a little more ‘punch.’
That’s where Tom Ford’s knee-tremblingly gorgeous Indian Rose comes in. Like all of Mr. Ford’s offerings, it is incredibly glamorous. A chic, black tube with the most gorgeous rosy-pink offering inside. Both the lid and the lipstick itself are stamped with a TF, and are almost too beautiful to use.
Although it really is a work of art, the formula inside is just dreamy. The lipstick glides on smoothly, straight from the tube, delivering an even layer of pigment. If you have pigmented lips, this would be the most perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade. There isn’t the chalkiness that some neutrals have, instead this is pure colour. On my, this is a rather perfect middle ground between a ‘natural’ and a ‘statement’ lip. The pinky tone is flattering, and the warmth from the shade is perfect for my fall beauty looks. The amount of pigment in the lipstick is just perfect for looking pulled together, without trying too hard. I love the satin finish it has too – nothing too shiny, just a slight sheen which feels grown up and sophisticated. The wear time of the lipstick is great too! I easily get 4-5 hours before I need to touch up, and even when it does start to fade, it leaves your lips with a flattering pinky stain.
The lipstick costs £37.00 and is available from Harvey Nichols and Selfridges and here (US)
Like most people, I’m rather enamored with Tom Ford. I’ve lusted after his clothes since Gwyneth Paltrow wore that suit in the nineties, and when he released his eponymous beauty line a couple of years ago, I was all over it! I first saw it in Harvey Nicks, where I stocked up on luxurious basics like eyebrow pencils and eyeliner. But when I was in Paris I let myself loose on the lip colors. I left with a significantly lighter purse, clutching at a selection of the most perfect nudes I’d ever seen. But now, I felt it was time to dip my toe into more coloured waters.
As you can see, the color is beyond incredible. The chic black and gold case opens to reveal the most pigmented of lipsticks. I adore the TF imprinted in the bullet – it’s almost too beautiful to use. Almost.
The colour is truly incredible. After applying a light layer of balm, I applied the colour straight from the tube. I adore the bright, blue toned pinky-coral. The blue tone means that teeth look super white too! One swipe is more than enough for a perfect layer, and it feels wonderfully light once it’s on. Unlike other bright and pigmented lipsticks I’ve applied, this doesn’t feel at all drying. Instead it just feels nourishing and it has a wonderful silky sheen. The wear of the lipstick is incredible too – over 4 hours before I needed a touch up, and there wasn’t a hint of smearing or feathering.
The lipstick is priced at £37.00 and is available from Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Selfridges and here (US)
